RC K9
Air rifles certainly are NOT what they were when I was a kid 20yrs ago. The technology is nuts these days. I've been watching guys on youtube that regularly take 100yrd+ shots with ease. Some of these guys are hitting pigeons at 200yrds+ off silos with air rifles. A few months ago I got a lower end PCP .22 (Hatsan Vectis) and have just been slaying starlings, squirrels, etc. I'd love to get something from the FX lineup in .25cal some day when the wallet allows. But man, it's nice to get an air rifle dialed in and be able to consistently hit starlings at 50yrds+. Falconry is still my #1 method of hunting, but in the off season or when falconry isn't practical, man, i'm in love with a good PCP Air Rifle and a good scope. Anyone else into them? Not Brian
about a hundred years ago I shot my friend in the arm after one single pump and he cried like a bitch.
nurkvinny
Yep. Love mine. It was just a stock 22 from 10 years ago, but is a cheap, fun gun.
RC K9
Well, looks like not a whole lot of you are into them. Ha ha Another thing I like about them, is on a lot of them, you can put some pretty awesome moderators on them, so they can get pretty quiet. Even with a moderator, mine is decently loud, like a loud nail gun, but one morning a few weeks back I popped 4 squirrels in my front yard withing 10min. I missed the 5th :/
TTQ B4U
I'm not "heavy" into them but I have a couple really nice ones (for my level of use) knowing there are some awesome ones out there costing much more. As many I started as a kid with the basic single shot BB gun, then upgraded to a .177 caliber pump, then up to a .177 Nitro Piston. The first .22 I had is this one: https://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Benjamin_Trail_NP_XL_Air_Rifle/2052 Loved it and still have it. It's a great gun as I think all Benjamine's are and thus I upgraded this summer to an 8 shot repeater that is https://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Benjamin_Marauder_Mrod_Air_Rifle_Combo/3541#6830 .25 caliber is great for what I use it for which is plinking the PIA squirrels and local varmints in our yard. I've upgraded the optics on both and have both pretty well dialed-in for accuracy. The challenge with any becomes finding the right ammo that shoots accurately. Even then, there's inconsistency depending on pressure in the gun.
gillbot
I bought a grizzly x2 so I could rip off 177 and 22 but thus far I’ve only shot 22 out of it.
TTQ B4U
Bagged another skunk tonight with the Mrod. One shot through the chest, sounded like a baseball hitting a glove. Dropped him hard. Unfortunately he sprayed and thus he's bug food until I can bury him in the am.

It's relatively quiet for the power it puts out. .25 is unregulated so you get a lower shot count, but lots of muzzle energy. Definitely geared towards hunters. I know the .22 has a lothar walther barrel option, and a regulator option which gives you a LOT more consistent shots, but obviously not the same knockdown power as .25. I spent months researching and going over reviews for options within my price range and it came down to the Marauder and The Vectis (with the Vectis being a little less expensive) and I wound up going with the Vectis as I got an excellent deal on it. (Some lady won it and a Hatsan hand pump in a raffle, shot it once or twice, and decided she had no use for it). While nowhere near on the level of anything from the FX lineup, I can hit a bullseye pretty consistently at 50yrds, and I have it sighted in at 70yrds, though you will notice the the shots drop quite a bit as the air pressure is depleted due to it being unregulated. This is mine: https://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Hatsan_Vectis_Lever_Action_PCP_Air_Rifle/4787#9540 I have a UTG bipod on it and a Athlon Argos scope. The only pellet I can find my individual gun to group well with is the JSB 18.13g, and i've tried a LOT of different pellets. The JSB is the only one it really likes. What I'd LOVE to get... https://utahairguns.com/fx-wildcat-mkii/ or https://utahairguns.com/airguns/fx-dreamline/ But that's a bit out of my price range for the time being. RyM3rC
my dad got some ruger branded one and it looked way fancier than the shitty old $25 crossman 177, but only lasted 3 shots and broke. got another one through warranty and it never worked at all. old shitty $25 crossman still works though
