Now, taxes are going to go UP - state and federal. So, you'll gross more because of your wage increase, but your take home pay will go down.

No, your taxes will still be going up, regardless of how much you make. When the tax cuts that went into effect in 2001 expire in January your taxes will go up. EVERYONE's will.
