Why does my bike whistle?

I'm driving an 81 Suzuki GS850GX 8 valve DOHC 4 stk 4 cyl. When I'm riding I hear this whistle coming from the motor.

The pitch increases/decreases as speed increases/decreases and goes away completely when I pull in the clutch.

Is that just how these old gals sound or is this an issue with the clutch?

Thanks

Jim

head gasket leak?

edit: aye, could be air intake, or exhaust.

something that has pressure or vacuum pulling or pushing through something small and hard to find

does it whistle when in neutral and holding the revs up?

i know it doesnt help but my buddies 08 ninja 250 does it after he shuts the bike off and it's something to do with venting the tank.

That is the fuel vapors causing his issue. My 04 does it, too.

Actually, my Ninja 250 also makes the noise that the OP is talking about once in a while. If I raise the RPM's a bit, it will go away, as well as being related to the clutch. I think it could be a leak between the cylinder head and the carb, but I haven't noticed it the past week, so I'm not worrying much about it.

The whistle tips go Woooo WOOOooo!

Where....do you find this shit? You amaze me. A guy that finds so much different shit on the interwebz should be able to find a motorcycle in a color besides a Duracell home jersey.

You think those work on bikes? Actually' date=' do those even work at all, often wondered.[/quote']

We had a truck come into the shop after hitting a deer. While doing repairs my boss found two deer whistles...mounted on the inside of the bumper...pretty much out of the airflow. Yeah those didn't work.
