Doc
6-5-2010My day started out on Ohio SR 125 in Amelia. This happens to be where I start all my trips from because I live here. Leaving my road and making aleft turn onto SR 125 I head out on my two hour tour. The first thing that happens is a chubby dude pulls up next to me ona orange Suzuki. This kid picks a spot on SR 125 about two miles before Bethel to want to race. As always knowing that a twist of the wrist andmy horses on my R1 I could change this kids life but! being an older rice rocket rider, I have learned when and where to pick my speeding tickets. This was just not one of those kodak moments where I wanted to pay the fuzz a few hundred dollars just to make a point out of porkins next to me. Besides I need a tank of rocket fuel and after Bethel was not to manyplaces between here and Georgetown for 93 octane so I stopped and fuledup and watch the orange sunset as it went down the road looking for another sucker. With Bethel behind me and Georgetown coming into site, The only place that gets you going is the cut in the hill down to the river and back up theother side. You can sneak a quick twist of the wrist here due to the factyou can see just about everything in front of you. Just as I enter Georgetown and to my Right is SR 221. This road has 32 curves to it. Six of these curves are close 90 degree turns, three right and3 left handers. The road was repaved last year and if you like the thrill ofa possible car pull out of a side drive this is a great road. It always getsmy blood going which is why I love this road. This road dumps out on Ohio SR 52 in Higginsport. I always watch forcoppers here. Local fuzz tends to not like our sport bikes and are alwayson your butt so made sure you cover it well here. Between here andthe next big town which is Ripley, I keep my self control and go with theflow till I am passed Ripley. I have about 7 miles where I can turn it up anotch and air out my suit. A few years ago they built a new bridge about 9 miles this side of Maysville. I love this bridge. I can tell you that my best from the bridgeplate north to bridge plate south I can clear this bridge in 6 seconds flat. And yes, to do that you have to bend the speed limit but I am not goingto tell you just how much as you can found out for yourself This is KY 62/68 better known to the locals as Clyde T Barbour Highway. This is going to dump you onto KY 10. I turn right at the stop sign andget ready to rock. A few miles down this road it splits, SR9 to the right andSR10 to the left. Your going right on the AA highway. About two milesyou will cross KY 425. A quick right and you have a few twisties todo before you dump onto SR8. At the stop sign, I make a left and head down SR8. Right before I get toAugusta "Not to be confused with the name Agusta. You are not a truerocketeer unless you know the beauty of an MV Agusta. What does thishave to do with this ride? Nothing, I am just tripping a bit. Anyway Imake a left here onto SR19 and do a little carving of this road till I get tothe top and I am making a right back onto SR9. There are many many roads that you can carve up and down between SR9 and SR8. I kept doingthis all the way till I got to SR1019 and headed back down one more time. This road has a few house on it so you have to stay sharp but it doeshave some very nice twisties on it. This road ends in Foster and once againSR8. I turned left on to SR8 and road this bad boy all the way back to theI-275 bridge. KY8 is a bad little road. You can keep a good speed andthe road is anything but flat. You are tossed around like a rag doll attimes. It takes a little body English to keep up the speed and that is athrill sometimes. Right before the I-275 bridge is a soft serve shack. I stopped off for acone and a bit of a cool off as it was raining in my suit. If you want toskip the ice cream, the bridge is a nice stop and ogle place. This is apretty good size piece of steal here. It's even more impressive that they are twins. If you ever traveled the I-275 loop the bridge going from Kentucky into Indiana is a single bridge. It's built like the famous SidneyAustralia bridge. There I go again, Get back to the ride Doc. From here you will go under the bridge and make a left onto River Road. This road will take you into Fort Thomas. I hung a Left onto Fort Thomaspike and then a right onto Alexandria Pike. This road leads you back toI-275 and the way back to Ohio. As a note, If you go straight, this is the start of I-471 heading into Cincinnati. I stay on I-275 till I get to exit 65 which is SR125. Hang a right and8 miles later, I am back home. I like to do this route once a monthand never get tired of doing it. Sometimes I skip the highway anddrop back down onto SR52 in Ohio and take that to New Richmond andback Up SR132 to Amelia. Most of the time I do this trip on a tank ofgas and two hours of my time. Two hours of no phones no work anda little me time, well sometimes me and the boyz time
