Bike idles funny

2005 cbr600rr

Occasionally idles roughly, bouncing up and down between 1300 and roughly 1600 rpms when in neutral. I used fuel injector cleaner and have gone through almost 2 tanks of gas. It seems to be going away slightly and sometimes runs perfectly. Just curious about what else it could possibly be other than dirty fuel injectors.

Turn up idle adjustment? I believe mine idled at around 1600rpm.

Just seems weird. The stock idle is 1300 +or- 100 rpms.. so it sits where it should,

something just isn't firing correctly at that low of rpms.

any time you have an idle problem, its always best to check plugs first, then make sure the wires are good, then move on to check for a vacuum leak, then replace fuel filter....and from there, if its not fixed, you start checking into heavier stuff such as fuel pump, injectors, compression testing, etc

It's stalling while it idles too. The guy at the Honda dealer recommended checking the plugs too. It makes sense that 5 years later the bike would have some build up on them. Checking them this Saturday.

not sure how many miles you have, but 5 year old plugs (assuming the original ones) definitely should be replaced. At least pulled, regapped, cleaned. Most of the time they are a PITA to get to so it's just easier to replace while you're in there.

other than the nawws, have you worked on the bike recently? if you worked on it and had to lift the fuel tank, you might've kinked a line here or there.

what kind of fuel do you use?

sounds like a tune up

make sure you have time to tear into it to change the plugs. getting to them on a 600rr is a pain, lots of shit in the way.
