600ZZ4eb
Saturday was a great day to ride! It started out warm and sunny and as we progressed toward SE Ohio the temp and humidity rose significantly. However, I would still say it was perfect. Anyway me and some buddies started out a little after 9am heading to meet another buddy and his and his son east on 13 via 70. The route was supposed to be a total of 314 miles from east Columbus and back, but it turned out to be a little longer based on my little mix up in Marietta looking for the food joint and OH-255 being closed about 7.5 mile through it. All in all it was a great trip, no major incidents to report and most of the roads were in decent to good shape. However, on a couple of the roads we got stuck behind some slow moving traffic that was unwilling to move out of the way and we had to endure some really sweet turns at far below the posted speed limit. L I have to say the 676, 26, 255 and the country road detour to get around the closure (Thanks to the guy and is 4 yr old on the Shadow for showing us the way around…..although he almost bit it in some gravel when he pulled off – side note he was flying on that shadow and his boy on the back was super relaxed going around those curve both of them in their flip flops, shorts and tanks….go figure, but they did have helmets on….), 536, 78 and 669 where all good with me. There was some broken pavement and some other sketchy areas, but all in all I was very satisfied and it was well worth the all day ride to get out there and back. Blacksmith BBQ in Marietta – This place as good, but small *****NO restroom in the one on 7th St***** It was right across from Marietta College. I’m assuming it was so small because most college students would take the food and run, but that’s just my thought. Anyway, I think most of us had the brisket. Meat was awesome and a good portion of it was placed on a hoagie style bun. Their house and fire BBQ sauce was very tasty and added to, but did not overpower the taste of the meat. Mine also come with what seemed to be fresh made potato chips…..anyway it would be worth a stop if you are in the area – www.blacksmithbarbecue.com Some photos:http://s539.photobucket.com/albums/f..._26_10%20Ride/
