armith
I'm known for my long winded responses.. Like this one coming The Dragon itself doesn't suck.. It's still a unique road unlike any other.. But it's probably one of the most dangerous stretches of road anywhere and getting worse because of wedge driven between tourists, locals, and enforcement..Throw in the fact that 18 wheel trucks still roll thru there and could give 2 shits about having police escort even though there is adequate signage and police on the road saying they're supposed to or take an alternate route.. And lets not forget, it's not just bikes.. I go down for a group meet the same time the Miata National event.. there's always tuners and drift king wanna bes, and sometimes midlife crisis drivers with stock roadsters who think they have Formula 1 cars (until they understeer right into a tree). It is what it is, you learn it, you respect it, you get over yourself and realize this is a US highway and it wasn't paved for you or the asshole that just blew around at a 110 dragging bar ends before it bites its to make Killboys homepage. or you end up on the tree of shame or god forbid worse. The dragon gets all the attention but people are finding out that there is so much more to see and ride. I like hitting the dragon, but for the reasons you mentioned its not my favorite. Hell, we went like a month ago and just when I was thinking the dragon was better than I gave it credit for since I still consider myself a pretty noob rider, I almost meet a semi head on at 45. We were down there another 2 days and I wouldn't go near it after that
