A township man shot himself in the head and died late Wednesday night when he reportedly became confused over the number of bullets remaining in a handgun during an outdoor gathering with friends, authorities said.

The friends said they told Bowers the weapon was still loaded but Bowers disagreed, put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger, apparently to show he felt it was empty

1? Don't fire a potentially loaded gun at your own head.

1 all guns are always loaded. No exception.

2 never point the gun at anything you are not willing to destroy

3 know what is beyond your target. The bullet could have font through his head and into someone else.

4 keep your finger off the trigger til your sights are on target.

He violated all of them.

Not necessarily. If he actually wanted to commit suicide, but wanted to make it look like an accident he may have only violated 1 of the rules.

Not likely. This is what happens when you mix guns and alcohol. Alcohol should only be mixed with juice or soda pop.

Now, this rule seems difficult, a gun is always pointed at something, sometimes your foot or your thigh, or random people behind you depending on holster...

What holster company sells holsters that point at your feet or thigh or backwards?

If it was intentional and he didn't take anything else out with the round it sounds like I didn't break any rules.
