This sounds bad.

That last part = "“semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General.”

The pistol part "firearm based on a design of a firearm" ( designed for military or law enforcement ) sounds like that would / could include, 1911's, GLock's, Beretta 92Fs. So, then the other Kel-tec's and Hi-points will still be ok since they were not used / issued by police or military.

"Fabrique National FN/FAL, FN/LAR, or FNC, Hi-Point20Carbine, HK-91, HK-93..."

They got that covered. It's such a blanket list and the language the the AG can set the standard is quite interesting. On the bright side the Supreme Court has upheld gun rights as of late it my be a plus againts this AWB proposal. But how many of those Justices are going to be replaced by POTUS the next 4 years? Good thing I'm just a dutifull public servant totally forget what "De Oppresso Liber" means.

Do you mean first this, then Twinkies? This says it is from the 110th Congress, if my Wiki reading is correct that ended Jan, 3rd 2009. The 111th congress remained democratically controlled. Us republicans hold the house in our current 112th Congress. In January 2013 once again the house will be republican controlled. But I've got some more lenses I would to buy so . . RRA AR and and 2k rounds of Lake City xm193 for $3,500?

#1: There is no phucking way.

#2: I'm pretty sure I've seen this list before on one of those annoying FWD:FWD:FWD: emails.

I didn't bother perusing any more of the site, but the fact that this was posted recently makes me certain that it is one of those worthless MOAR FEAR sites.

Here we go again. Honestly, is doing a shred of independent research that hard, or are you so fat and happy being spoonfed info from your fearmongering sources that you've lost any semblance of independent thought?

The assault weapons ban expired on March 2, 2004.

HR 1022 is the attempt to reinstate in 2007.

Attempts were made in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009.

None since 2009, all died in committee, for the most part.

Yes it's possible another attempt will be made.

No, it's not likely to have any success.

This elected Congress is locked up tighter than the previous one.

The voting public managed to vote out most of the moderates,

making an even more divided and dead-locked Congress.

edit: What is dangerous is use of executive order to bypass Congress.

The reason I posted it is it has been getting some attention on several right wing sites, encudeing ones that Special Ops Intel monitor (thanks to some of my close contacts still in the comunity) And the rumor has been raised that good old Sara Brady has got her bandwagon all loaded up for another push after POTUS mentioned it in the debate. And like Recon, I know how adept POTUS is in the use of the executive order. I forget the exact count but he's over 150 of them in 4 years.

Of course it has, people who can't seem to be bothered to do any critical thinking or independent research keep reposting it along with whatever the latest derp is from sites like Infowars.

I must have missed the part where being a member of the Special Ops meant you had special insight into the political process. I understand you were a member, but give me a break. You and the currently serving soldiers are no better informed about this than the rest of us (I'd even venture to say less informed, since you seem to be defending something that's been easily debunked)

And the rumor has been raised that good old Sara Brady has got her bandwagon all loaded up for another push after POTUS mentioned it in the debate.

Citation needed.

And like Recon, I know how adept POTUS is in the use of the executive order. I forget the exact count but he's over 150 of them in 4 years.

And Bush II had 171 in that time span. That means approximately fuck-all.

Once again, please, for the love of FSM, read something that's not from Infowars, WND, or whatever "right wing sites" that keep fomenting this shit, and stop hand-wringing about the big Lib boogeyman that's going to personally steal your gun after he shoots your dog and forces you to get a physical for free with universal health care.

Actually I think it's Dianne Feinstein that all the rumors are about.

And nothing is in main stream media yet.

edit: Found this. One line from a local news article in LA after Feinstein won re-election.

"Feinstein also said she intends to introduce an even tougher assault weapons ban."

Some so called intelligent folks worried about nothing, all is good and peachy in their make believe country. The USA isnt being run by a POTUS that is Socialist in sheeps clothing, and to those that take the time to research and investigate, they have superior knowledge and insight "trust" as to the goings on in this country. Nah.....nothing fishy and suspicious about the POTUS and his past, and nothing suspicious and fishy about the election results. Keep on believing we are on the right track, keep on believing he has the best interest in mind for this country and its "citizens". Obama loves the United Nations.....he has their interests in mind.

Where hath the apostles gone?

Joining hands with wicked ones

Revelation has come to pass

New world order, will hold the mass

A book written by the man

Used to control and command

All rights will be denied

Without the mark you shall die

No confession, all is known (All is known)

New world order, you shall be shown (Shall be shown)

Monitoring all wages

New world order comes in stages

Currency is obsolete

Feel the agony of defeat

Symbol of society today

A must have or you shall pay

As humans flesh leads the mind

Just as a pawn the last martyr dies

No confession, all is known (All is known)

New world order, you shall be shown (Shall be shown)

Where hath the apostles gone?

Joining hands with wicked ones

Revelation has come to pass

New world order, will hold the mass.

I'm waiting for the fear to hit an all time high so I can sell my new, unfired Romanian psl-54, complete with 4 or 5 mags and kit bag and scope.

Coming to your local armslist listing soon for an exorbitantly high asking price.

In all honesty, I'm starting to see the draw of buying guns for investment vehicles. Since the cycles are retardedly easy to predict, and the demand is so easily manipulated into a buying frenzy, I can understand how there is money to be made on this. The risk is still crazy high (to me) since the market is essentially governed by someone signing their name onto a piece of paper vs. normal supply/demand curves, but I understand.

as long as you buy guns you think are cool as shit, there is very little risk cause worst case scenario, you have a bunch of guns that are cool as shit and best case scenario, you have a bunch of guns that are cool as shit that's worth more than what you bought it at. and shooting them while you hold onto them between masshole panic swings doesnt really affect value as long as you're not putting on tens of thousands of rounds on them and don't scratch/dent/generally fuck them up.

My point is, given the recent run on the gun supply chain that, if I'm reading MT's posts correctly will take months to return to normal, it's entirely possible and predictable to buy something in, say, a year and then sell in 4 years to a tidy profit, as long as the gun is kept in good shape obviously with minimal to no effort on my part other than the capital being tied up in a hunk of metal in my closet.
