  1. So then are you promoting people who are in the proccess of getting their ccw to illegally conceal? I open carried until i had my ccw permit and still do on occasion. I see plenty of ccw people flash their gun to friends for "attention whore" purposes. This guy did nothing wrong, open carry is legal regardless if you like it or not. He broke no laws, and open carry does not mean your looking "to initiate interactions by law enforcement", its his way of carry/defense and its his choice not yours. POLICE DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT SO ASK FOR ID OR SEIZE PERSONAL PROPERTY IF NO LAWS WERE BROKEN ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITUTION. In this case they did not even have probable cause. If you disagree with that because he had a gun, then they should assume everyone who has alcohol is going to drink and drive right? seize that shit and detain them. Everyone who has pain killers is a drug dealer right? seize that shit and detain them. Everyone who has pressure cookers is a terrorist right? seize that shit and detain them. Should I continue?

  2. Unfortunately it is common practice for police to violate peoples rights. The only way to raise awareness and correct that situation is to hit them in their wallet. See above. Tonik pretty much covered everything concerning the law. Police have a tough job, but they chose that job they were not forced into it. I personally believe they should be held to a very high standard in order to keep that job. Sadly this is far from the case. Also those of you who are willing to give up your rights so easily, well... they are yours to give up. Don't ask anyone else to give up theirs though.

  6. Here is the video Edit: *video not available on mobile device To start off sorry for not being on here right after the ride and answering and responding to many questions and comments on other thread. Took off to a gap trip and came back only midnight last night. anyways... Taken at the end of the ride This is only about half the people that showed up for the ride in the beginning To start off, thank you each and every person who showed up for the ride. I hope i was able to meet if not all most of you guys and girls. The parking lot was so full with bikes it was overwhelming. I never been on a group ride this big yet some what organized First off, Hope the riders who had unfortunate incidents are doing okay . There were two crashes among the groups which actually rode with the epic ride. And the the third was on his way to join the ride i believe. Wish I could have been of some help, but by the time the news spread and came out it was already hours later. always wished we could keep the slate clean when it comes to this annual big ride. But from the looks it was just bad luck it happened. Mad props to Inyaz and earache for sacrificing their ride for fellow riders. They both came a long way to joint he ride and had to stay back to help. Big thanks to all the volunteers for the group leads and sweep and brian and cdub who at least managed to get thing moving. we missed UP/pauly kind of figure who would take the lead and start organizing. Like i always keep mentioning, when it comes to real life i just go hide as i am kind of an introvert. Anyways, in the end thing worked out okay even though it took some time. On a rough count we took there were about 75 bikers on the lot. Few of them didnt join the big ride, some came out on cars to meet others etc. Also to mention would be brown57 and Jack flash who even tho didnt have a bike came out to meet the rest which shows how much of an attachment you have with this online community to find some time to come out and meet them in person. And special mention goes to the Michigan band who came all the way down to join the ride, grey cat, and scorpion ninjas. And thx to jch82 for the awesome T shirts. As some one was mentioning too much organization also kills the fun, and thats exactly how it happened. Things sort of just evolved after the groups began to get split of. Each group managed among themselves, taking breaks, detouring, speeding slowing as fit for the group. As always the aim of the big group ride was not to have a lot of people to follow a rigid framework made by rules . The aim is not to show strength in numbers. The ultimate goal was to MEET and share the passion of motorcycling together. I will be 100% confident in saying a number of riders would have met other riders from the area for the first time here. They made friends with them and will be riding with them in future. Just because of shear number we were unable to get things stream lined and organized. I was hoping dizzledan would be flamboyant like last time and herd every one for a group picture, But thing got too hectic and delayed and ride got started before the group pic. The route was fairly technical one. If a new rider, must be doing the slow group. I hope it was fun for the fast guys as well. good road conditions and didnt run into much obstacles. Some how managed to snap some random pictures at the end of the ride. Just walked around and started snapping randomly. I was riding alone and trying to cut off the groups to take pictures. But came across only the slowest group all the time. But at the end only i realized the other groups had taken breaks, detoured etc and was behind the slowest group. Wish i stayed there to grab some pics of the rest. Anyways, will update more details later. I am sure missing lot of details, still sleep deprived and whole body aching from 12 hours of riding yesterday Some random Pictures, was playing paparazzi clicking away with no setting or focus and stuff, photochopped to pop up colors to make it look different, shud have lept it b&w, but what the heck anything goes. 7. Ok so I know there are a few on here who like to backpack/camp. And I don't mean the camping in a 30 foot trailer type of camping. For those of you who tent camp/backpack and need to carry a light weight fast camp stove. I found this little idea on a blog somewhere and have been making them since. It is a teracycle stove. It is made of reused metal cans and cardboard that is soaked in paraffin wax It works very well and boils water very quick. It is also almost free to make them. Once you have some used cans(i use tuna cans for the fuel cells, and a bigger bean can for the stove) Get some corrugated cardboard, some paraffin wax, a old school can opener with the point to punch triangle holes in the cans. Make a double boiler, I use a old can so it is easy to keep unused wax for later use. Melt the wax, while you are waiting for the wax to melt cut strips of cardboard the height of the can roll them tightly and fill the tuna can with it. Char the top of the rolled up cardboard a little, it makes it easier to light later. When the wax melts pour it over the cardboard, soak it evenly until it is just under the lip of the can. Next punch air hole around the side of the bigger can, I did eight one on each side. Next punch holes on the top of the can to let heat come up. You light the fuel can then set the bigger can over the fuel can for a instant stove. For around a dollar in wax and some reused household items it makes a great cheapo stove for backpacking. Some pics of the process and stove lit. Wax I used: Can with rolled cardboard charred a little then filled with wax: Bigger can with holes in top to release heat: Fuel can lit: Bigger can set over the fuel can ready to use for heating: You can store two fuel cans in the stove and that should last for a weekend hike or more. I have burned one can for over 1 1/2 hours and it still was burning but almost out. I keep one of these in a zip lock bag with some water proof matches.

  8. If you are a young black man driving a pimped out car in a nice neighborhood and get pulled over and react the same way this guy did then you deserve to get hassled.. If you comply and show I.D. with a non aggressive demeanor you would be on your way soon I bet. Act like a dick get treated like one...

  9. Just because you CHOOSE not to open carry and CHOOSE to provide information even though you've done nothing wrong is your CHOICE, not the law. If I ask you for ID and you ask me what you did I have to tell you. If I say just doing a routine investigation you are allowed, by law, to decline to give me ID. If I say, I saw you INSERT CRIME HERE and you refused ID, I now have the ability by law to detain you. I could initiate a traffic stop for speeding and ask to search your car. You have done nothing wrong and if I have no PC would you let me search your car? Even though it is against what an officer wants, you can say no. In all reality it raises more suspicion but if you've done no wrong then your fine. Just be sure you've done no wrong.

  11. Really??? Kind of like if he's black he might be getting ready to commit a crime.
    1 point
  12. That is flatly 100% wrong. The cops can absolutely stop you and ask for you to provide identification, because there is nothing incriminating about providing identification. If you're carrying a firearm, the police have every right to make sure you're doing so legally. If you're not a felon, and you cooperate, they ought to send you on your way. If they don't, THEN you have a reason to be irritated. that's not to say they won't read you the riot act for being a fucking moron and inviting scrutiny by carrying a gun in a situation where you're damn well aware it's going to cause people to freak out. Case-in-point, I can walk around telling people "the devil is coming," and acting all kinds of crazy. That doesn't mean people won't call the cops out of concern. Or even more parallel, if I was walking around carrying a knife in my hand, or hanging prominently on my belt. You're telling me you wouldn't be concerned if some stranger was visibly armed?

  25. Boy, this story would be all different if this "troublemaker" would've walked into that gas station while an armed robbery was taking place. I'm for OC. I see it occasionally in my area. I don't freak out, I don't run looking for police to protect me, and I don't think the person carrying is an attention whore or about to commit mass murder. I don't have a concealed license. If I am scared enough to carry one of my firearms with me, its going to be on my hip in plain sight. Problem with that? Write your representatives.
    1 point
  26. But..................how did he get to the gas station, if he was driving and carrying, his ass had better have a CHL. I find that the police did nothing wrong at all "this time", and I feel this is bad and unwanted publicity for the gun community.

  27. He very well could have been looking for and interaction, but we don't know that all we know is that the police initiated the interaction. The VSM instructor I train with alot has a saying. People, especially men learn by two things. Physical pain or financial pain. Since I can't inflict physical pain on you. If you shoot my 50 cent furring strip or 10 cent clip it will cost you 10 bucks each. I bet depts. will learn to educate their officers a lot better if they get hit with a suit for violating ones rights then a letter sent to them in the mail asking them to train their officers on the subject at hand. I'm glad you are pro gun/carry but you need to educate your self on your rights.

  28. Whether he was looking for attention or not is irrelevant... He might be the biggest fucking douche in the world... I don't know him or give a shit being an attention whoring douchebag doesn't give the police the right to infringe on his constitutional rights.... He broke no laws, and there was no reason for the police to even interact with him If I was the officer who was called to the scene, I would observe the situation for a moment to determine if any laws were being broken, and if they weren't, I would speak to the cashier who made the call and explain that oc is legal, to prevent further calls in the future wasting LEO time and resources Gangbangers, murderers, people up to no good, etc generally don't go around open carrying their firearms.

  29. So the general conception is: a holstered gun = criminal. Yeah, because thugs always go around with their gats holstered.

  30. Open carry in the summer is a lot easier to do than going concealed. Shirts and shorts don't always allow for good concealment. I think there is a time and place for open carry. Did this guy purposely go looking for trouble? Who knows and who cares. The problem is when people blow things out of proportion...period.

  34. I firmly believe there is no reason to open carry, other than to gain attention or get a reaction. Did he do anything illegal, probably not. Stupid, yes. Further the anti-gun agenda, yes. Make us look bad in the news, yes. No reason for it.

  35. This thread, so far, makes me feel embarrassed to be an American who believes in the constitution. "just cooperate and it will be okay" is an awful mind set to be in.... Fuck having rights, just cooperate. Those of you so willing to give up your rights that our founding fathers and military all fought and still fight for, should be absolutely ashamed.
    1 point
  36. i understand people like to make things easy, but legally the cop has no right to ask for ID if he has done nothing wrong. being a dick or not its still his right to legally refuse to identify himself. if the police violate the constitutional right then they deserved to be sued, then maybe they will understand that its not ok to violate peoples rights.
