  1. There are a lot of people who don't want to work hard...regardless of the payoff. There are a lot of (not all, mind you) young people nowadays that feel entitled to be sitting in the boss's chair about 6 months into their career. I've interviewed them. My wife has interviewed them. they know everything and feel like they'll have your job in no time. Honestly, i grew up with nothing. Neither of my parents graduated high school and eked a living but we did OK. My dad grew up in a house with a literal dirt floor. I got married really young (19) and had a kid (bad decision). At the time, I had to drop out of college and work 2 jobs. We were on govt' assistance for 6 months. I had no family with money to help out so we were on our own. It was incredibly embarrassing for me and I busted ass and sacrificed to get out of that situation. I was (and still am) ashamed to admit it. Eventually got back in school, got my degree, worked my way up (there's a divorce in there somewhere). My current wife and I live very comfortably because we worked hard and sacrificed early on. We were lucky not to have major health issues or other catastrophes to derail us. Not everyone who sacrifices and tries hard succeeds and not everyone who needs help isn't a lazy bum. Shit happens. Help is there for hose who need it and I am proof of that. Unfortunately, many seem to abuse it these days. There's little or no shame in sponging off the government/others anymore...it's a way of life for many and they make no effort to better themselves and don't give a damn. Those are the people I resent. Everyone who works hard and follows the rules should resent them. Reform should happen to mitigate this...but it won't happen. I guess I'm rambling.

  2. and I have highlighted EXACTLY what the problem with this country is. Nobody wants to work hard for anything anymore and wants it handed to them. I also find your second sentence another major issue with this society. A significant part is on them and only some of the blame can be placed on "things out of their control". Nobody wants to take responsibility for their own shit, it's always the man keeping them down. Screw that, get a job hippies

  3. No, you just make it sound as though it is impossible to better one's self due to "society, policies and history". I'm not going to waste my time on a bleeding heart because there are many, many examples of individuals who have come from a disadvantaged position in this country. I'd also argue that among those policies were ones created to help those disadvantaged folk by politicians of your ilk. Somehow though they have only enabled them to continue to be disadvantaged and not pursue the routes that made America so great back in the day. So tell me, why can't they see that some policies they put in place are broken and doing exactly the opposite of what the intentions were supposed to be? (psssst the answer is: Votes) So continue to believe that one side or the other is right and the other is wrong in a broken system. They all lie, deceive and prove hypocritical no matter what side of the aisle they are on. No politician gives a shit about you, me, or any other person for that matter. They just give a shit about their power and money and if you can't see that then I truly feel sorry for you

  4. Neither would I. But Obamacare is worse. So much worse, in fact, that the largest provider in Obamacare has warned it has plans to drop out. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2015/11/19/unitedhealth-group-earnings-downgrade-obamacare-affordable-care-act/76040322/

  5. I don't disagree at all. But until we remove the special interests/lobbies then giving them more money to f' things up more is counter productive. And just to be clear I mean all of them, which includes the unions and environmentalists...NRA....all of them. And that is why we will never get rid of them. Everyone wants to get rid of them, except the ones they agree with.

  8. I would not at all call our private insurance industry efficient. In fact ours is one of the least efficient in the world, certainly the developed world.

  9. What you say is absolutely true, except the part about taxes and bigger government being the answer. Name me one thing DC has ever done well? Everything they do is an unmitigated disaster. Full of waste, fraud and corruption and usually does more harm than good. I don't know what the answer is, but DC isn't going to be part of it.

  11. I think it is funny that we are speaking of the one thing that Kasich has said and it blew up over night, yet Trump says some way off the mark things and nobody blinks an eye?!? Obviously just my opinion but if we have Trump as our next president things are going to go down hill fast. Is he smart ABSOLUTELY, would I rather have him doing my budget ABSOLUTELY, but to have him as our commander and chief is a scary situation for us young Americans.

  15. After all my deductions (not many) and so on, I ended up paying about 30% of my income in taxes last year. Not sure what you have to make in order to be paying this mythical 15-20% but I'd like some.

  16. Yes, I'm the naive one. For every 1 of those people that want to work hard there are probably at least 10 more that just live off the system with seemingly no desire to do anything more. Furthermore I can think of at least 2 industries in Ohio where jobs are plentiful that pull minimum $18-$22/hr and you don't even need a high school education. All you need to do is pass a drug test, show up on time and put in the work you're asked of. In fact in one of those industries if you can do that and then want to move up the ladder then companies will pay for your training which will vault you in to a 6 figure position. I personally know 3 people who have done exactly this because I hired them

  23. Agree. Anyone who has the attitude that "my party will make things better...but the other worse party will be the death of US" is a monumental idiot. There are too many of these morons to count, and they are propping up this broken, two-party system. As I've said many times, I have far too much pride to call myself a democrat or republican.

  24. Obamacare is the epitome of good intentions being the paved road to hell. I think everyone agrees the government is whack...all driven by special and self interests. People are fed up...as evidenced by the success of Trump thus far though the jury is largely out that he'll be any better and/or able to effect positive change. I'm not sold.

  29. Increasing government bureaucracy and intervention into the economy slows economic growth. The democratic-socialist & socialist economies of the world tend to have higher unemployment rates because of this. If you want increased economic growth, you must minimize the inefficiencies that are borne out of the bureaucracy.

  35. According to the O.P. and his little cartoon you and your wife didn't work hard enough or you made shitty decisions,or both.Again, according to the cartoon companies don't fuck people, people never get sick, people never have a family crisis.Hell, according to his cartoon companies pay carpenters $25 an hour instead of hiring illegal workers and they have the choice of working anywhere from 20-60 hours a week.Is this a Disney film or what? Anyone who truly believes that cartoon explains the the America system of economic rewards is very naive and has lived a very pampered life.

  36. and conversely if the poor did something like take primary education seriously to make it to secondary education and get a better job to make a pay raise they could enjoy the bounty that is airports, roads and the TSA. I hear it is totally worth it.

  37. Yeah, we all knew it would snowball. It's a shame, I've been moving away from paper and physical wallet/cards and towards e-everything on my phone. Now, I'm re-thinking that because eventually they are going to build a back door and there's gonna be hacking of epic proportions. I worry less about my privacy on the phone than I do all of my financial data.
