  2. I am no bike builder nor do I have the proper tools but I have been challenging myself to to build confidence with making changes to the bike. Since my bike was crashed at some point it has no real value for anyone to buy. Since I had little to no experience when purchasing my 2nd bike I bought this... Lessoned learned. I then had some wonderful men help me get it on the road and running safely. Spring is in the air and I decided to make some changes and ride what I have. I do not have the money for a better or nicer bike so this is where I am. A few weeks ago I was able to get the big dent out of the gas tank, not perfect but much better. I love streetfighter/cafe style bikes so many ideas went swirling in my head. I know this may not be too many peoples liking and it may get ragged on but that is fine. I just am proud of the slow start and what I have learned/been taught. I found a bike on google that I really like and that was where I started. I decided to buy a 2nd hand seat of ebay for super cheap. I did this so if I mess up I can always go back to stock and scrap the entire project. First thing has been to make the new seat. Have not finished it yet but I like what I was able to do with a bread knife. This is the bike I found on google and really like. This is the bike before anything started. This is the dent in the tank. This is after the dent was removed. Here are the pictures of the seat progression.

  3. I was on Wally Rd. Monday when i was out riding and i seen some construction signs up that were covered so went i got home and did some searching on what they were going to be doing. I found a news paper report that said it was going to be paved. If any of you know Wally road is only part paved on the Knox county side so i sent a email to the Knox county engineers office and ask if it was all going to get paved or just part of it, and this was the reply I received. Timothy, we were awarded an ohio public works commission grant for wally road improvements, it will consist of a two year program, first in 2016 we will be replacing some culverts (crossing wally rd), doing some bank removal and widening a couple of places. in 2017 we will do some reclamation (roto-tilling and adding gravel base), then surface the entire road within knox county, including the existing gravel portions. jim This is great news because Wally Rd. is a beautiful scenic byway that follows the Mohican River through Ashland, Holmes and Knox counties. It starts and end either in Greer in Knox county off StRt 514 and the other end is in Loudenville off StRt 3. The Knox county side is the only remaining unpaved section of the road but the parts in the other two counties need a little TLC as well.

  5. In 2006-7 I lost nearly 100lbs...then I went back to school almost full time while working full time and my diet and exercise went to shit and I gained it all back. After school, throw in a few knee surgeries, achilles surgery and an extremely demanding work schedule for a good while and I haven't gotten back on track since. However, in Jan I got fed up with being out of shape and since the end of Jan I've lost 25 lbs and still going so hopefully in a year I'll be back where I need to be. Been using myfitnesspal to track everything I eat, my workouts, etc which is really good for me and keeps me on track. At work they put in walking desks (treadmills that top out at 2mph with a desk attached to the front so I walk on there an hour at least 3 days a weeks (they book up fast) which is super helpful.

  8. There is going to be a LOT of work needing done and if a car guy bought it and wants to build this thing, it will most likely have a country club result or have enough steel barriers to line the toll road. I hope otherwise, but with the fact they have conservation things regarding the land and wetlands, I hope it isn't a big deal. Sounds like they bought it right and can start off on a small cost, but the removing of tires alone is going to be a big nut. We will see. The fact that they are closing it until it is deemed safe shows that a lot of us weren't off track in thinking it was just rough and not well suited for aggressive racing. Gravel traps in the carousel on the outside are going to be an issue and probably need to revamp the layout to accommodate the wetlands to the outside edge, etc. Just the grooming of the rough areas in the grass run off spots is a big under taking. Basically, they want to make it "modern" and viable for competition? They have a loooooooong road to haul. Wish the best. Would be great to have two tracks in Ohio that are premier and in great shape. Cool to see Beaver revamped and if they can get Nelson back, maybe the NC region can come alive again! Hearing Putnam looking to repave is also exciting news. But I will believe the Nelson stuff when I see it actually happening. Too many times we've been disappointed...

  15. I finished the new seat during my days off. I did not realize how difficult vinyl would be. I really enjoyed making the seat, frustrating but rewarding. Kind of want to make another at some point. But, onto some other projects and if I go through with it all it wont be much longer.

  17. Let me give you some background. I finished welding classes in November. Out out 10+ apps, no bites EXCEPT for this place. Formerly owned by Amish, partnered with an Englishmen, the. Then the English guy bought the Amish out. I'd say it's a 50/50 split of Amish and English. I'm not particularly find of working with Amish. They don't care about precision, just breaking a sweat. Which is fine, but they're trying to have me eyeball stuff up to 22 foot long. Ridiculous. But anyways, they make dumpsters, big dump bins you'd find outside a bay door, and trailers (intermodal and otherwise). Being the new guy I'm making the big bins. I have no passion for the product, but I do for the work. So being that it's bins they really only care how many they pump out, but they run the same settings on the outside of trailers, but with .050 wire. It's just a ridiculous speed to run anything but a stringer at. Like I said, you're allowed to change your settings as long as the welds are sufficient, but nobody does. I'm getting the experience I wanted and I still take pause when I open the checks. Verticals welds are the only ones I'm especially proud if, but they're all acceptable. Glad to know I'm not out of line being concerned at the settings, but it's production. Also, nobody needs certs for anything, which is dumbfounding considering some of these things have wheels on them and will be passing you in the highway. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

  18. There are some simple things you can check for yourself... Per Recon's post, hit control-shift-esc and bring up the resource monitor. You can see which applications and processes are hogging CPU and RAM (click on the headers to sort). If you aren't sure what they are (names can be cryptic sometimes) google them. Kill the ones that are not needed (google will tell you - right click on it and choose "end process") and see if that helps. Be careful what you end as it could make Windows unstable and crash - hence the google recommendation (there are also sites like this: http://www.howtogeek.com/139028/which-windows-services-can-you-safely-disable/ ). Certain antivirus and anti-malware apps can really hog up resources, especially if you are low on RAM and have a slow drive so... How much RAM do you have? Right-click on My Computer and choose "properties". If you have anything less than 4GB (I'd be surprised if you did), especially if you are running 64-bit Windows (it should say on the same screen as the RAM amount) then there's a good chance that is a big part of the problem. The hard drive is likely a 5400 RPM old school spinning platter drive and slow as hell. An SSD (they are getting super cheap anymore) will help immensely and for a newer system one of the best upgrades you can make. If you are going to re-install Windows, this is the time to swap drives.

  20. Retired tech here... slow and freezing up. Basically it's off doing something else. Something it probably should not be doing. Or it's doing something legitimate wrongly. Backup data, even if the hard drive has to be removed and usb slaved to another computer to do so. Start with a full hardware health check of more than one type if possible. The built in systems diagnostics at boot is a good place to start. Check fans and temps of cpu and hard drive(s). Run separate hard drive diagnostics if there's any suspicions. Occasionally, unplug everything inside the computer except boot drive and see what happens. Swap and/or remove RAM around to see what happens. (Bad RAM if reversed in slots will blue screen instead of running slow. Or vice versa.) Full clean first and then anti-virus scan. In safe mode if necessary. Ccleaner. Malwarebytes. Superantispyware. Again, usb slaved to another computer if necessary. Check Windows Task Manager for Performance, it's probably maxed out. Then check the processes, sort by cpu, to see if it shows itself. Right click on it and end process or end process tree. Not a permanent stop. Not a permanent fix. If the culprit(s) can be found, research and figure out what went wrong. Or remove it. Also check event viewer for any clues that might be there. Alternate is to boot diagnostics mode with processes shut off. If that works ok, add start items back on each boot till it malfunctions. Again, research and figure out what went wrong. Or remove it. Can also be done in reverse, start with normal boot and remove one process with each re-boot. A tech that remotes in can't normally fix stuff like this, unless something shows itself right away. (Dozens of re-boots.) I typically set these up on the side of my desk where I could keep an eye on it, and ran it for two to twenty hours looking for cause. That's the basics, but attention to clues while doing so, might be necessary to actually find the problem. edit: and yes, sometimes the extent of damage or effort required results in re-imaging or installing an operating system to wipe it and start over.

  21. It's fast as shit. I was having a breakdown after blowing holes in pieces for a couple days straight. I'll need to confirm the shielding were running. I think it's 75/25, but it comes hosed in so I never see the source. Just wanted to confirm I should have been struggling for as long as I did lol Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

  22. LG and the higherend Whirlpool stuff is the only way to go for appliances. Did a lot of research before we bought our washer/dryer and last dish washer. As far as washers go I'd steer clear of all front loaders too, not saying there isn't a couple decent ones but you will pay dearly for them, The new HE top loaders are by far best band for buck. Maytag/amma/Kenmore are all made by the same any more and they are garbage too.

  23. I'm doing the same thing as What as far as trying to make more of a lifestyle change than just going head first into it. Been working on my diet portion since around October and about mid January I started to hit the gym a few days a week to break in my muscles and about 3 weeks of 3 day gym visits I have now been going 6 days each week for the past 3 weeks. I was able to do a 10 min mile yesterday for the first time in years and still have energy left over and my weights have been increasing as well. I use an app called Bodyspace by bodybuilding.com to track my lifts and picked out a lifting plan through it as well. My goal is overall health due to my family having a risk of heart disease and my last check up had me high in pretty much everything. Feeling better each day!

  26. You got that right. Late 90s I dropped over 120 pounds over the course of a year, and I spent the last 16 years putting 90 of it back on. My weight can fluctuate as much as 10 pounds in just 3-4 days. Also seems the older you get, the harder it is to cut as well
