Had a really good 2016...Had my first child born that is a boy so got some great years of teaching him camping, riding etc. coming my way, Bought a new house and had an in-ground swimming pool put in, had a great year with the company and family and friends. Looking forward too 2017 slowing down a little and being able to get back to camp and on the motorcycle. (too embarrassed to tell you what i put on the clock this year). Goal for 2017 is get back in shape!
2016 was an eventful year for me.
4 surgeries (2 minor)...recovered from some serious injuries...Went through a major break up...Went through a custody battle...Lost some close friends...Added quite a few great people to my life...Lost weight...Got healthy...Etc
2016 definitely tested my mettle. I've adapted to things I never saw coming and overcame them. All things considered, I am better off at the end of this year than I was at the beginning.
I am in a very good place other than the fact that I've grown to hate the people I work for. I'm in the process of solving that, too.
2016 was awesome for us. I got ample time on the bike. The Mrs. got a new car, and I paid off my Tahoe. We have turned our health around and lost a total of 170 lbs between us. So far no one close to me has died this year. I'd say the only negatives for us are: We have a little more on the credit card than I'm comfortable with, and my son got himself into some legal trouble but that's going to be sealed up here super soon.
It's honestly pretty easy especially if you start with an electric one. Get a piece of meat, throw some rub on it, throw it in the smoker and pretty much forget about it a few hours. When I first got my smoker, I would throw the meat in then have a smoke then a nap and when I woke boom meat is ready to consume
Why? So you can still wish you had a motorcycle? The fact you still hang around here tells me you still have "it" in you. Trust me, the last 2 years I played the fun car game and neither of those cars I owned for more than 365 days. I owned the m3 for like 4 months and owned the m5 for a little less than a year.
I always went back to the bike.
Let me save you some time, and money and let me make the decision for you. Buy another cheap motorcycle so you can get out when you want to.
Edit: And so we/ I can see you when you arent selling me something.
I think I'm one of the few people that had more highs than lows in 2016.
also one of the few that could give a shit about celebrity deaths where that has zero bearing on my year
New CEO this year, so work got kinda crazy and only managed to ride 22k miles. Terrible election year cost me at least one friend and I almost never talk politics, but I don't tolerate douchebaggery either. Otherwise, it was a pretty average year.
Other than attending too may funerals, 2016 wasn't a bad year. It was eventful with one major thing after another. I'm hoping to catch my breath in 2017.
Wow, I suddenly feel like I had a real uneventful year compared to some of you guys. Good for you for coming out the other end stronger.
For me, probably 16,000 or so miles of riding (but way too much of that is riding to Philadelphia and back for work), two track days, and the only real milestone was my old Speed Triple rolling over 100,000 miles.
Good luck for a great 2017 everyone.
It's good to see you guys rise above your challenges. 2016 has been great for me. Rode more than I ever have. Went through alot of BS at work that turned out to be nothing. Started to not get worked up about the little things and just to enjoy what I have. Knocked off almost 12k miles this year, and realized I am a happier person when I have motorcycle trips planned and that's what I am gonna do in 2017.
