Old Ford Escape. High mileage car with some rust and no working a/c but a good runner. I have a step-nephew that has long commutes to both school and work and no car so I just signed it over to him.2 points

2016 was an eventful year for me. 4 surgeries (2 minor)...recovered from some serious injuries...Went through a major break up...Went through a custody battle...Lost some close friends...Added quite a few great people to my life...Lost weight...Got healthy...Etc 2016 definitely tested my mettle. I've adapted to things I never saw coming and overcame them. All things considered, I am better off at the end of this year than I was at the beginning. I am in a very good place other than the fact that I've grown to hate the people I work for. I'm in the process of solving that, too.1 point

I recently purchased a fake memory card off of eBay supposed to be 64 gig was Houston an 8 gigabyte housing that was useless. Seller refunded full amount didn't want it back in even. And Santa Claus brought the triplets the new controllers for the PS3. Check out the way they spell entertainment on the back of a label, LOL1 point

Cycle Vin is the only reliable way to go as it gives title history etc. I checked NCIB as well as a few other free sites bike came up as not stolen etc. Lets just say it is not worth the hassle of dealing with the state police for purchasing/trying to sell stolen property. The frame was stolen 5 years prior to me purchasing it . I sold it, two years after the person that bought it from me was trying to sell it and the state police showed up at his door and seized the bike. I provided a notarized bill of sale with all my contact info so.....It came right back to me. It was very stressful trying to demonstrate that I had no knowledge that the frame was stolen which they didn't care as they took the whole bike. I had to provide phone records and text messages between the seller and myself and try and identify people from mug shots. It is amazing how shady some people can be. The guy you are purchasing it from my be a stand up person but that doesn't mean the person he bought it from was.1 point

I believe the VIN check Tonik posted is only Ohio. Here is another site to check I have used it a couple times. It goes through insurance records. https://www.nicb.org/theft_and_fraud_awareness/vincheck Good luck. Hope it all works out.1 point

Yeah, if you want it to have pink on the inside, you'll have to pull it much sooner than that. The point of letting brisket go so long though, is that it is a pretty tough cut of meat, and "overcooking" it helps, as long as it's kept moist. IMHO, it's brisket, not steak. That's the cool thing about BBQ, you can do it however YOU want it to be!1 point

Thanks for the link. After posting this I plan to vincheck it anyway to be safe. Hopefully it's a clean check1 point

But we have the law now. if they fix it we have to wait for it to change instead of going on red when it's clear. I'm reporting ones that do change.1 point

Now I'm wondering if some of the carbon crap might have flaked off and lodged between the piston and cylinder wall. Or possibly worked it's way between the inside ring groove and inner face of the piston ring. Just guessing here. Diagnosing mechanical problems over the internet is like sticking your hand into a burlap bag and guessing what kind of snake is in it.1 point

So wrapping up 2016 I thought a short political review was in order. 2016 was the year the libs celebrated the nomination of Trump. They then proceeded to rig their nomination process so the only person that could lose to him was nominated as their candidate. Then, after having been warned that the Russians were the US's greatest Geo Political foe in the world they feigned indignation when the Russians exposed their anti-democracy plan to get Trump elected. But in the end, they prevailed and were successful, they got Trump elected. They then proceeded to dismantle all of the illegal NSA spying on emails and such that they were fine with when their guy was doing it because they finally started to realized WTF they have done. Congrats libs, mission accomplished. Pretty f'd up plan, but at least you made it happen.1 point

If it was my money I would by the AIM solo GPS. They make a DL (data logging) version as well. No need for beacons or anything else additional. With that being said one of our best selling non-gps versions is the XT Racing Ultra Lap timer. It does a great job but does require a beacon. XT also makes the GPX versions which will provide much more data. Everyone has there own opinion on this but for me the AIM is what I would go if you can swing the cost.1 point

Reading is for chumps. I thought this law was a thing already? I've been running reds that don't change for years.1 point

Wow, I suddenly feel like I had a real uneventful year compared to some of you guys. Good for you for coming out the other end stronger. For me, probably 16,000 or so miles of riding (but way too much of that is riding to Philadelphia and back for work), two track days, and the only real milestone was my old Speed Triple rolling over 100,000 miles. Good luck for a great 2017 everyone.1 point

It's good to see you guys rise above your challenges. 2016 has been great for me. Rode more than I ever have. Went through alot of BS at work that turned out to be nothing. Started to not get worked up about the little things and just to enjoy what I have. Knocked off almost 12k miles this year, and realized I am a happier person when I have motorcycle trips planned and that's what I am gonna do in 2017.1 point

Glad to hear you're better off Tpoppa. That's a brutal lot to go through. Weird one for me too. A good recovery from 4-level cervical disc replacement surgery, but rewarded later with residual peripheral neuropathy (numb/cold/tight arms and hands) that's likely due to lower level compression and systemic inflammation. A full year of "cleansing the palate" by not dating one bit after a shit marriage with bad custody issues, a LTR with different issues, another promising STR until I undid it facing more critical health issues, made a big job change to an intense management role, switched up a few motorcycles and did several excellent long-distance ADV and camping rides, rounding the year out with 6500 on the odos. It's why I don't post here as much as I used to - just too busy most of the time. Still, all said, happy to be alive and getting around, not stuck in an unhealthy relationship, challenged to rise against, and a little more self-aware than 365 days ago.1 point
