Airport security, or "security" anywhere for that matter, is mostly an illusion. Even someone like me, with average intelligence and a little inside information, can find a way around it pretty easily, provided you're willing to make sacrifices. I've seen enough to know that I'm the only one I can count on to keep myself and my family safe.2 points

Seems to be a yet another mentally troubled young man that the government had already sent through they system and let him slip through the gaps. Was legally traveling with his fire arm and someone or some thing made him snap or some how clicked a bad thing in his mind and he went off the deep end. Even though it's a very tragic and scary thing it's really no different than the idiot at OSU or the shooting in orlando as far as what it means to national security. But since it was at a airport and the airport is "supposed to be" this safe place where no one can hurt you thanks to big brother. They (the press) is going to blow this WAY out of proportion and make people fear everything everywhere again and start their "something needs to be done" propaganda bullshit. And their bullshit is already being engraved into the public's fears and thoughts. My mother in law has been glued to TV all day listening to them and there over reactions and misinformed lies and then called us and begged us not to get on our plane tomorrow for Tampa in tears. Because she thinks we are going to die because we are traveling through a florida airport. Now my MIL dosnt have the highest intellect but it has me thinking, she is probably your typical american television audiance type and if she is on this state of mind so are a lot of others. And this is the part of this whole ordeal that bothers me the most. Not that it happened, not that a troubled young man was failed by a system, not having our abilities to defend ourselves from these types of thing being repressed. But what bothers me the most is how the Media, the government and other outlets and groups will use this to drive fear and helplessness into the american people to get thier policies and their agendas pushed so far up our asses we wont be able to breath again for a while and once again turning everyone against each other.1 point

Let me know if either of you bubbys wants to share a ride down. I have a trailer and got my suburban back. If it's just 2 of us, we can pull a smaller trailer with the Lezbaru. Or if there's anyone else who doesn't have time to do a two day trip down and a two day trip back and doesn't want to wear their ass out on the freeway, speak up now. I can haul 4 Sport bikes comfortably and five if necessary.1 point

Absolutely false. Genetics play a very small part in a dogs propensity towards human aggression. Bull breeds weren't even bred as attack dogs. American bulldogs were bred to be catch dogs on cattle farms and to aid in boar hunting in early America. The terrier branch of bully dogs were bred for hunting and companionship. The surge in negative press on pitbull attacks is part media hype, part idiots who don't know how to train a dog and yes, part is the fact that they are a powerful breed of dog and can do a lot of damage if they bite. In the 70's it was the German Shepherd, in the 80's it was the Doberman, in the 90's the Rottweiler. I volunteer with an animal rescue that rehabilitates abused and neglected animals, many of them are pitbull type breeds. I've seen dangerous and vicious dogs rehabilitated and trained and adopted to homes with small children over and over again with no issue. Currently snoring at my feet is my American bulldog Dixie. She was an aggressive, dominant, dangerous dog when we started fostering her. Now she cleans our cats ears like they were her pup's and attacks visitors to our home with kisses. Any dog can be dangerous. All dog breeds bite. The cause is almost always the training, or lack thereof, that the dog received.1 point

Bad has it right, sort of. From Dayton Louisville isn't a bad run. It's awesome. Stay at the Hyatt Louisville downtown. Right on 4th street in the center of all the action, it's awesome down there. Tons of stuff to do. Eat at Doc Crow's, easily walkable from the Hyatt. Get a pound of the Cajun/BBQ shrimp. If you have a good line of BS, call the Hyatt direct. Tell them you are one of the people that work for 'Derbycon' and you are coming down with your wife for a vaca. You should get a killer deal. FYI for your story, Derbycon is a hacker convention my kid runs down there. He sells the hotel out for a week...spends a BOATLOAD of money there. They should hook you up.1 point

Well I hit a milestone this week. I'm down a few more pounds and technology not obese any more, I'm just overweight.(by these charts that "experts" made up). Going by those "experts" I need to be at 205 lbs to be at optimal weight so I'll never see that. Not because I don't think I can, just because I don't really want to. 220 is my goal, so anything under that I'll be happy as a clam. Btw, my starting weight was 298 back in February.1 point
