I've watched people piss on campground grills. No one has pissed on Joel's Grill. I hope.2 points

I would say you don't want to just brake slowly to the slowest part of the corner, one is obviously going to be on the brakes very hard while upright and then trail off the brakes as you turn in, so the closer you get to that slowest point the less brake you want to use down to 1% ideally. This however is very easy to talk about and hard to do as most track day guys will brake while upright so in the instance above we would say that he needs to use more brake deeper into the corner which would move the initial brake marker up. I did, and I still have a difficult time with trail braking as I was told on the streets to never use brakes while turning. So it's a bad habit I started to try and break last year. I have also learned that as you use the brake on turn in you actually load the front and can have more grip as it loads that front tire and creates a larger contact patch. One of the things Ken hill says is that most of the low sides he sees is actually from an underloaded front end rather than using too much trail braking.2 points

Good point Brian, I knew that and completely forgot that nuance. So, would the cop have ignored ear plugs...that certainly is a possibility. So this thread is useless, it should be locked and the OP should be banned.2 points

One point to remember he was wearing ear buds with music not ear plugs. I am all in favor of not being ticketed for protecting my hearing, but there is no argument for ear buds and music...its worse on your hearing than no ear plugs and wind noise.2 points

Go here: https://www.legislature.ohio.gov/legislators/find-my-legislators and find your Rep and Senator. Copy and past the below in. Yea, I know I caved on the earphone issue. But if we go for that at the same time we will lose on both. One thing at a time. Hello, I would like to discuss with you a needed change to Ohio law, specifically ORC 4511.84 http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/4511.84 This law prohibits the use of earphones and earplugs while riding a motorcycle. While prohibiting earphones may make sense, the prohibition on earplugs does not. This law is antiquated and does not account for the medical community’s better understanding of hearing loss and it’s causes. In fact the Ohio BMV handbook for new motorcycle riders says: “Long-term exposure to engine and wind noise can cause permanent hearing damage, even if you have a quiet motorcycle and wear a full-face helmet. Whether you choose disposable foam plugs or reusable custom-molded devices, properly worn hearing protection reduces noise, while allowing you to hear important sounds like car horns and sirens.” I have a quiet motorcycle, and I wear a full face helmet. When I don’t wear ear plugs I can clearly tell my hearing has been impacted after a day of riding. They ring and buzz, just like being at a loud concert. Yes, I ignore the law and wear ear plugs as do a great many other riders I know. One of whom just got a $95 dollar ticket for doing so. I can assure you I can hear sirens and horns. Ear plugs are selective in what noise they block. Simply put the State has a law forcing a motorcycle rider to suffer permanent hearing loss. It has no moral right to do so. 4511.84 needs to be amended with an exception for hearing protection for motorcycle riders as many other states have already done. Please let me know what I can do to help make this happen and thank you in advance for your help in this matter.1 point

I wouldn't own an original 290, but the 290rs is a fine pistol. It's a little heavy for how small it is but it feels nice in the hand.1 point

The P290rs is DAO. I personally like DAO triggers especially in a pocket pistol. I like kahrs too. I have a P380.1 point

What size/model ktm do you have? My biggest concern would be if the motor could handle being as high in the revs as it would be on a track like midohio if it's one of the dirtbike supermotos. My crf 450 supermoto tops out at 90 mph and would be topped out pretty quick on the straight of Mid-Ohio. Might be an issue coming into that turn at the end of the straight with other bikes doing almost double that coming up on you. The top of the bike leg out style seems to work best with a slower later entry and early gas tighter exit type of line to get on the gas earlier on tight low speed tracks. While sportbikes tend to run a fairly 50/50 line to keep speed up. So people on other bikes might not understand the lines your running if they've never been around supermotos and you'll look very unpredictable to them. With that being said if you watch the European supermoto races they run on bigger more open tracks like mid ohio. The European riders don't really do the leg out or knee out style on the fast paved areas. They kind of do a mix of both and ride in a neutral body position with legs in, feet on pegs, butt cheek off seat towards the inside and leaning towards the inside slightly forward and upright over the bars. They run a more sport bike style line as well. I just started riding and racing supermoto a few months ago so take my experience with a grain of salt. I've found when riding on the street or in the more open corners on the track the above style is more smooth/stable and faster for me. Even hanging off the side knee out is a little faster than leg out but with the dirtbike style suspension and high bars make it feel a little unstable which affects speed. I just went to socal supermoto school. The guy running the school Brian said that the track style and what works for you dictates riding style more than anything else. So I'd say go to the track day if your confident your motor will handle it. Try different styles to find what works for you. What works in one corner might not work in another so don't be afraid to try different things. Be prepared for people that are slower than you in the corners blowing by you in the straights only to hold you up in the corners. No matter what style you choose people are going to tell you your doing it wrong. But as long as your being safe, doing what works for you and having fun they can screw off.1 point

Could we not use the empty lot next to the Malta BP gas stop ( 449 N. Main St. Malta, Oh 43758 ) that we frequent on most Epic rides? We've had the majority of us there at one time for well over an hour in years prior, and has never been an issue - and it's only a few blocks from RT781 point

I got written for 13 over in Southern Ohio a couple of years ago. He didn't mind my ear plugs either. He wasn't having a bad day, he was pissed as hell. He got 911 calls on some bikes, multiple LEO's chased them down at 115 mph and 2 of them ran. So in his head it was: 'I will write you for everything I can think of and maybe you won't do this again'. Not giving any of the riders a hard time for what happened at all, just pointing out how it looked from the cops point of view. But none of that matters. This is a stupid law that accomplishes nothing other than giving a pissed off cop a way to f' with you.1 point

Use TuneECU for your Triumph if you still have the Street Triple in your profile. NEVER use it on a 2013+, it'll brick your ECU. Works great on pre-13 though. It's free, and a $10 cable gets you going. Awesome for maintenance, reading/clearing codes, resetting the adaptation like you mentioned, etc. And if you ever plan on getting the bike tuned, head on over to JD at HordPower. He's about an hour and a half from you and one of the best Triumph tuners in the area. I'm actually taking my race bike there Saturday to get it tuned. His prices are super reasonable. Last time I was there it cost me $100 for the tune. Best money I ever spent on the bike for anything performance related. I put a full Arrow exhaust on, and picked up 13hp with the custom tune vs. running the generic Triumph/Arrow tune.1 point

I used Tune ecu when I had my Triumph, you need the OBDII to USB adapter off ebay to make it work with the laptop. It works really well and is what was used to load a custom dyno map on my bike. I would take the free tune ecu over paying for tuneboy any day.1 point

For the Triumph, TuneECU is about the most popular program for tuning/diag. And I'm assuming it works for other mfg's too... Edit - according to their site it's just for Euro brands1 point
