  1. Since it was the long way around to the Gap I'll toss this up. I left my daughters Monday morning and headed for the Gap. After biting the bullet and dealing with Atlanta traffic in the interest of time it was North Georgia back roads to Andrews North Carolina to look at a house. The further I went up the mountain the narrower the road got till it turned into large gravel and much steeper than I cared to venture. Bummer. The place had million dollar view. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/000-High-Top-Ln-Andrews-NC-28901/2094143493_zpid/?utm_source=email No way the wife would go for that. Then off to the Dragon. Blew past the store and took a break and had a chat at the overlook then blasted back to the store for a quick sandwich and drink. More back roads to Pickens SC. to visit some good friends. He is an F6B rider and she has a Spyder. They live in motorcycle road heaven. He rides that bike on the dark side and got 38k out of the first one. Says that once you get used to a few quirks handling is just fine. Yesterday was a long day. Banged out 650 miles and 6 states to get home from Pickens. Took some fantastic 2 lanes to Charleston West Virginia to slab it out the rest of the way. Dodged storms till eastern Kentucky then shit got real. Heavy rain, big wind and lightning. Experienced a lightning strike about 30 yards away when it hit either the tracks or rail cars that were next to the highway. No thanks. Was a good trip. Hated to come home but it was time. Like Tpoppa says no cops no drops. My thoughts on a Gen 2 FJR 1300. Needs 6th gear, needs cruise control, seat is atrocious, heat at the seat and your legs can get pretty uncomfortable lastly a speeding ticket just may be in your future. It is happy to cruise at 80 plus and handles pretty well in the twisty bits considering it's weight. Not sure if it is a keeper though. Some pics------

  5. i been scourging the internet for some time for a lighter bike, but as always never knew exactly what i want just a general theme. This time was in double mind, a lighter bike with some off road prowess to experience some real adv rides vs a lighter bike which i can take to track to exp track days. After tons of reading was sure there was no one good answer. But after thinking a lot and realizing more and more when i see Dans ride reports etc, i am not made out for such ruthless manly man rides fighting bears off and sleeping on top of tree etc. I mean i struggled a lot of years to get here not to do these any more hehehe But some day i am gonna grow a pair again and jump into those. Thus choice was narrowed to lighter bike that i can push around with my puny little body strength and possibly load into a trailer. Plus reasonably comfortable for single long day rides. So SS bikes were out. I want to get to track days and experience and learn more stuff, at the same time extrapolate that to real world riding in streets where i will still be doing most miles. and this way i hope to bring in some balance to family and my personal vacation time by trailering bike around and if at all possible get one day of riding which definitely makes a big difference. And thus narrowed the results further. After all this wall of txt, final decision making process was as simple as forest gump.. just went to gap..rode a striple... went into my head database of "zillion bikes for sale at night".com .. remembered seeing a clean striple... texted him sunday ...today was my last off day for next 1 month almost... just went to see it....... My first challenge i put on myself was if i dont feel comfortable doing "trailering" stuff i wouldn't buy it. Went to uhaul to check it out, It turns out to be an easy walk in the park, and there by shattering all my hopes of walking away from this maddness. Next obstacle i put on my mind was, if its not clean as he described i am walking away ....went in ...just wanted to see if it was as clean as he said... coz the price was fair not a steal deal. Saw the guy, older gentlemen very professional..heated garage.. And it was cleeeean ... like @Al Z. Heimer care level. Looked better than some show room stuff i seen. Oil /Brake Fluids like clear water Didnt feel like beating up the guys price and effort he put into it. And ended up bringing it home. i guess i might as well just embrace who i am. Just a mad mad motoholic fuxer i guess lol ... Sad part is i was getting to know the feejer real well after around 5 k miles on it. Hopefully i get to keep both. I usually dont do more than one bike at a time. Second sad part is i kept myself away from track days due to the trailering woes and worries. Now i realize its not a big deal, i am going to be in big trouble soon. Especially with Nelson black top ready plus a mid ohio certificate in my pocket already ........ dddddayuuuum need to resist. First time using a trailer in my life/ like driving loading etc/ tie downs etc/ will be another month before i even get to ride it, i mean might not even get time to plate it the way schedule is looking like for next one month.

  9. I used to have the same problem. I used to have a rotating stable of 2-4 street bikes. Some fell out of favor after a couple rides, some I kept for 30-40k. Now 2 is my absolute max, and they have to fill different roles

  13. Well I finally decided to get a action camera to mount either to my helmet or my bike someplace to capture my rides (mainly for my viewing) I ended up getting a cheap one to start to make sure I'll actually use it and how it all works before stepping up to something more expensive. So I am starting out with the Asako ek7000 4K cam. I think I'll just do 1080 at 60fps for the rides. Anyone using action cams feel free to share any tips for mounting or settings. I'll try to add a short review of what you get for $84 and hopefully can upload some rides on here if I get anything decent.

  14. This is awesome! Bike looks great man, real happy for you. I'll get in line when/if you decide to sell your FJR. I wouldn't mind one again. It's that or a scooter. Or a grom. Anyway, yeah bud! Cool bike and I love the color!

  15. i am actually liking it more i use it, 3 is a sweet one fit for all for most back roads and 5 is good enough to cruise in highway. never missed the 6th. It works well with the 1300 plant. It never really needed a 6th and i think was just done to keep up with marketing and competing with others.

  28. Just returned from my Dirty Gap ride around the Smokey's. First day I stripped some splines on my output counter shaft and parked the V-Strom. I rented a Suzuki DR650 from a friend I had met at March Moto Madness years back. He owns and operates GSM MotoRent.com right in Townsend, TN. where O.R. will be Gap Tripping next year so If you should need a bike on short notice, check Dan out. They did have a good selection of bikes to rent but all were reserved. After getting the rental bike and loading it I had to slab it from Tellico Plains, TN. to Helen, Ga. to meet our group at the first night hotel. Ride Report with photo's and Vid's will come later. https://gsmmotorent.com Short Test Video. B.

  31. haha funny weird story, i cant even make this up. I pull up at my home, get the bike of trailer and then went to start the subaru to get the trailer back....battery acting funny... i mean this car never ever gave me problem. and on the day i haul a triumph the battery gives me crap ... jump started and then things fortunately worked out. plus first thing i did is put the thing on a tender just in case hahah if your serious we can chat over PM. Never thought about naming bikes, but this one for sure gives you the feeling of a classy lady. Think i might name her "Sade" why not, right, british, classy, and smooth set of natural pipes and hopefully make me a smooth operator. yea. i was worried about it, i didnt have anything in my hand other than these, the lower triple idea sounds good.

  37. Just over 4 days, a little more than 1300 miles, 4 states, & 2 countries. 4 women, 2 Ducati Monsters, 1 Yamaha R6, & 1 Silverado carrying a Supermoto and all the rest of our gear. Unfortunately our trip contained a crash not long after we crossed into Canada from MI, and after a 5 hour delay at a hospital we continued on without our injured rider. Luckily she only suffered broken bones and road rash... it could have been much worse - the whole thing happened almost right next to me and was very surreal. Once we arrived at the event, there were bikes everywhere at the campground (all kinds from old Royal Enfields to BMW GS1200s to Triumph Scrambers to Harley cruisers and a few supersports). There were 550 women that arrived for a weekend of camping, free drinks, karaoke, live bands and some really beautiful riding thru the Catskills of NY. The weekend was perfect for riding, until Sunday when we left for home. We left early trying to beat a storm, but still hit downpours thru PA that soaked us completely thru our raingear, so we had to stop to dry out and wait for the storm to pass. This was an epic journey for me as I've never taken a motorcycle trip, let alone go camping, all with women I'd never met in person either. I had such a great time meeting women riders from different states and going on my first all women group ride (there were 15 of us)! It was a blast and I hope to go back. And, yes there were lesbians there...

  38. Only did 240 miles in the Ozarks today. I personally didn't take any pics but basically we got rained out. I'm talking biblical proportions. Made it the first leg of the day to Jasper with minimal wetness and one very epic road and yet another gravel butt pucker section. Then the heavens opened up. I mean i lt poured on curvey mountain roads, there were river running across the road and couldn't see shit. We said fuck it and booked it short cut style to the next hotel. It never did clear up so we abandoned the rest of the routes for the day. Other than the one section of what we saw I'm not that impressed with the roads and tarmac down here, medioaker at best with decent views. Got the "Arkansas Dragon" tommorow we will see what it's all about. We were all in good spirits considering the day being a wash till we get to a ruby Tuesday's right next to the hotel and have the waitress tell us it was a dry county and the only drinks you can buy are at restaurants. And they rape you for $5 bottles. Beer run is 40 miles away and we said fuck that in the rain. So the guys helped polish off my bottle of rum I brought by the indoor pool as we waited for out gear to dry off. Still a awesome trip so far. Back is feeling good and having a blast with the guys.
