Tim: I've led a group of between 5 and 10 folks from LocalRiders from Cinti to Abingdon on our first day's ride to the BRMC for the last three years. Always stayed at the Super 8 there (Exit 17 off I-81) and had zero problems. If you're looking for hot tubs, swimming pools, workout rooms, and a 4-course breakfast, fuggedaboudit. But it's always been cheap, clean, no bed bugs, staff was efficient and personal at check-in/-out, and there's a free continental breakfast available. Easy access to gas/fast food/highway, no parking lot issues with security, and a big box store (Food City) within walking distance to pick up beer/wine/snacks. Unless things have changed dramatically since last September, I see no issue with booking there.2 points

I am in Prestonburg, Kentucky. Not the first time that I have stayed in Prestonburg. The last time Issac's Papa and I stayed here on our way to a gap rally. Did around 420 miles. There are some nice roads down here. I picked up 7 right after I crossed the border and rode it down to 460 and took that to 550. Very little traffic, even on the highways. Nice day of riding!2 points

Weight loss so far is 25 pounds since beginning of July. Wife and I are biking 5-6 days totalling near 60 miles a week. My quads haven't been the same since.....when does the pain go away?!?!2 points

UPDATE....Hotels have changed and updated in this post as well as the maps. Trip is planned and details are below, I'll keep the list and ifo updates in this first post......First the usual disclaimer... Ride your own ride. Enjoy the weekend. Be safe. This is not a competition or a race. This is just a good weekend away with friends. You are responsible for yourself. This is, of course, an "at your own risk" event. Motorcycling is dangerous. These roads are dangerous. Be careful. Ohio Riders (and/or it's owners, blah blah blah) cannot be held liable for anything (like, but not limited to, traffic tickets, accidents, stupidity, death, etc). Asshats need not apply. So with that said we are looking at the weekend of and dates for October 18th-22nd. This will be a nomad trip meaning a different hotel every night and we will try to keep the hotels cheap. The routes will be up for discussion we can do similar to last year or maybe do a BRP day or what ever I good with anything. If you roll with the usual group will be a medium fast pace 10 to 20 over most of the time but no man will be left behind. A deal too good to pass up has come my way and sadly I don't have room for more than 2 bikes so... My beloved project/track bike is being put up for sale. I picked it up from this forum 2 years ago and it's seen 4 track days at Mid-O with me as the pilot. I'm not in a super-duper hurry to sell... looking for $2,000. Bike runs well, but it may need its valves adjusted. Has a 996 front end, sprung stock with 7.5wt oil. Stock rear shock Bike is stripped down of all non-essential electronics Fuel injected Have title, clean Rear tire is new (Pilot Power 3) Front tire has maybe 2 or 3 more track days worth of life (take-off from my street bike) Fairings repaired and repainted over the winter, sharkskinz fiberglass Woodcraft rearsets OR sticker on swingarm (essential) Somewhere between 70 and 80 horsepower, she had some engine work done (higher compression) back in her WERA days, no bore kit or anything to my knowledge Fair warning, if you're looking for a pristine bike with no blemishes or beauty marks, this is not the one for you. There are a few other members on here that can attest to the fact that the bike runs and is pretty quick for an older girl. Anyhow, pictures:1 point

It's great place! If you are into motorcycles, there is no better collection on earth. The track is like a country club.1 point

I actually set my pressures before my ride. 3 laps on the red loop. Got passed by a couple of guys on nicer bikes. They did not drop me quickly enough for me to be jealous of their fitness. I wouldn't mind their bikes.1 point

NP. I have heard some of the hard-core internet denizens complain about slow network. I'm an old guy who doesn't have a smartphone or tablet. I want a clean comfy bed to lie down in after a 12 hour riding day. If you're traveling with folks that "need" that kind of connectivity, maybe look elsewhere....1 point

No! I just figure that if I drive for a couple of years, I can then afford to really retire.1 point

Actually, I am thinking about driving truck for a couple of years, once it is to cold to ride.1 point

If you wouldn't have shown up it would have been a catastrophe I know. Those folks that were with you are definitely troublemakers that would have fucked up the ride. Thanks for taking one on the chin for the common good & all. In the future, If there's a huge group & you see us heading out early & you are a decent rider, feel free to tag along. We could have been better communicators on this ride about such things.1 point

Finishing up the stand for my buddies FZ09. The pins were a little more tricky. Same guy machined them for me, but the right side pin was a small diameter. So for extra support I sacrificed a socket lol, I tig welded the cut piece of socket on to the pin. The pin sits inside the axel, and the sock hugs the axel nut. got the pins drilled for the safety pins, and welded up the side plates used for mounting. i still need to drill the hole and weld the nuts on the mount plates, then make the base. Then it will get some powdercoat. We will get to test these out very soon, as we are heading to deals gap Thursday morning.1 point

I haven't seen much change on the scales lately, just stuck around 221 range, trying to break through that 60 lbs lost barrier. My cardio workouts have been getting better though. Finally getting 3 miles under 30 minutes on the treadmill.1 point

When we say Gap Trip we mean general area. We hit most of the roads you mention every time we go down with a few extras too like Wolf Pen gap, C.Skyway and many others. Last years fall gap trip we stayed in Johnson City, Claton(GA) and Rocky Top. Honestly we will probably run through the Dragon once and be done with it.1 point

My Vacation is approved so it looks like these dates of 10/19-10/22 it will be. I'm actually off the whole week so if anyone might wants to leave earlier I may be game for that too. Justin will be on the before mentioned dates so I'm not saying everyone needs to go early if I decided that. We were thinking about finding a hotel in northern WV or Kentucky the evening of 10/18(Wed) for a meet up or we can set up a spot further south for Thursday meet up like we did last year. For the guys that want to trailer down we will probably only stay in the gap area one night maybe two. Thinking about two nights at one hotel just to accommodate the trailer guys and be able to hang with them too. I'll start working on Hotels and routes this week and weekend.1 point

I miss food already With all the issues with my thyroid, the roller coaster has finally stopped. Now it's time to work on fixing what it did to my metabolism. Little background... Started in 2013 with hyper by 2014 caused me to gain (always hungry). Then I went really high, 120bpm resting heart rate. I lost over 15lbs in 2 months. Then started treatment. By the end of 2014 I was steady...then went low and high back and forth until beginning of 16 (gained back what I lost) then real low...now normal with meds. But gained 20lbs in 1 year Low fat, low carb, lots of biking and walking...want to lose 30lbs. Let the fun begin....1 point
