  3. I have an '09 FJR that I addressed this issue a long time ago. I ran my own grounds for the fans because they are high load items. Then I installed a "Brodie harness" that connects all the ground spiders together and adds two very good ground paths directly to the engine case. That was over 100,000 miles ago and all-season riding. No spider problems. For you, stop fooling around with the dielectric grease, it doesn't fix the problem. Cut the bad terminal off and solder all 6 wires together along with another 18 ga wire that you can attach to the engine case somewhere. You should also consider grounding the fans separately, like mine. Better yet, just ride up to Toledo next week and I'll fix you up. No charge.

  5. I finally understand When someone disagrees with you about anything ever, immediately call them a racist. This is especially encouraged when race is not the issue. Don't forget that you are far too tolerant to be bothered with trying to understand an opposing point of view. Developing an informed opinion is not required. They're probably just a racist anyway. Congratulate yourself for outing the racist on social media (for example, see the entire state of California). If your bravery is not immediately recognized refer to yourself as a social justice warrior. This will produce the desired effect. Blame Republicans while patting yourself on the back for occupying moral high ground. Remember, you know what is best for everyone.

  6. I head back to teaching Monday. Today was essentially my last free day to ride before I have to go back to the joys of teaching teenagers. I ran my usual route of 164-9 into Cadiz. Then I decided to run down 250 to WV250 to WV7 and then hit 536-556-145-148-9. The new pavement on WV250 is already getting beat up. By no means is it terrible, but they have already had to do some patch work. On a positive note there was very little gravel, probably the cleanest I've ever seen 250. I had a blast. I need to ride that road more often. I basically used WV7 to get me to 536. To start my ride on 536 I ran into mowing. Not exactly how I wanted to start things off, but eventually things cleared up in time for me to run up on Bambi staring at me. Thankfully I spotted him early, and with a few honks of the horn he headed up the hill into the woods. After those distractions I focused on getting comfortable on 536. Definitely felt better today compared to when I ran it a couple weeks ago with Doc. I was not squeezing the bars and puckering around every corner. I still need to spend more time on that road. My plan was to run it north then south and back up again. When I stopped, however, I could smell plastic melting. My lower fairings were getting cooked from running at 10-12k rpms. I decided it was best to make my way to 556, plus I got some looks from home owners as I went by. I figured they would not be pleased to see and hear me 3 times. The rest of ride home was great. The only issue was I saw a car smashed into the guardrail on 164. Nothing like 450 miles for 9 hours to prepare me for the real world again. Took 1 pic (stole the idea from Doc) Note: sign said 536 would be closed 8/22/2017 for 3 days

  7. As some of you know, my dad and I change motorcycle tires. We have changed roughly 50 or so this year and have seen some real sketchy tires, but this one takes the cake. The owner ran the tire until it wore through chords and blew out at about 50 mph. It took both lanes for him to get the bike slowed down. Luckily no traffic. The owner is currently going through a divorce and was strapped for cash so he couldn't afford a tire, but instead of just parking the bike, he kept riding. Luckily his coworker gave him a decent used tire and we installed it. Regardless, risking your life to get a little more miles out of a tire isn't worth it. I will gladly change a tire free of charge, and most likely even have a used tire to get you some more miles, if you need it. It's not worth getting hurt over or destroying your bike. I know many of us have rode tires down to chords, it's not a fun time.

  14. Ok, ordered clutch mc rebuild kit and a new old clutch slave cyl. Should solve all my clutch related issues. Need to order blinkers and maybe these mufflers this weekend: Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/253083576244 As far as looks, pretty sure I'm gonna black it out. I'll have the fork lowers, wheels, fenders and backrest powder coated satin black and have the tank and side covers done in high gloss black for a little contrast. Debating on keeping the rectangle headlight and putting a sealed LED light in it or switching to a 6" round headlight.... would also like to put a later year fender on but not sure if it will work with the seat... pics once I make some more visible progress. Bonus: the 1984 was the only year with 3.40:1 gear in the rear end, all others had 3.14:1. The 3.40 was put in to compensate for the 700cc motor but the following year they added a tooth to the countershaft instead and went back to 3.14:1. Because I have a 750 motor swapped in it will have shorter gearing than a stock 750 or 700, so should be quicker off the line.

  19. I've been here for 7 years and haven't even had the slightest notion to go back to Ohio. Everything is better. Everything. The housing market is crazy right now so getting a home for less than asking value won't happen. The weather is generally warmer and more humid in the summer. I started out in downtown Nashville and have slowly moved North and West to get away from all the hustle and bustle of city living. Smyrna is South and East. I24 from Smyrna to Nashville is by far the heaviest and worst traffic in the city. Anything specific, ask away. I can check things out if you need eyes on something. Overall with a company paid transfer it wouldn't even be something I would consider, I would be an instant yes. If you don't mind a short commute, live about 20-30 miles east of Smyrna and the cost of living goes way down, you're in the country, and the plateau is only 40 minutes away. The dragon would be about 3 hours. A day trip basically.
