  1. Let’s be clear. When you blew by me at M.R.T. I got caught in your wake turbulence that pulled me along at a higher speed than I normally go. It’s best to just ride out the tail wind vortices and wait for a stop sign or something to calm things down. It’s all about the Coriolis Effect, Your Honor……. P.S. I turn 60 this month so as a certified Old Fart I will be slowing down and smelling the roses.

  4. I get what you're saying about feeling at home in a particular place by something indescribable. I hang out a Kennedy's Sport Cycles on Saturdays when I don't have anything going on and I get the same sensation there you are describing.

  5. Thank you too UP! It was great meeting you in person, and thanks for indulging my interest in the shop and how stuff is designed and made there. It's weird but all the smells of old and new equipment, oils and steel make me feel oddly at home, which I think has something to do with my grandpa Smith's and his brother's shops when I was a kid. Funny how stuff like that works on the brain. I hope we get a chance to ride in the near future - I want to see that new bike you just bought :-). @CBBaron yep, she's in my garage drying off as we speak, with plans to go through the mechanical basics this weekend!

  7. I assume this means @smccrory has a new bike. I was also looking at trials to improve my off road skills but I was not ready to buy that quick

  10. My plan is to be semi retired around 50ish. So i dumpping in what I can till then, plus I also have a pention. My 401k is set to automatically increase 1% every year. My wife will continue her career(that she loves by the way) to supply most of the income and benefits. I'll still do somthing part time or even full time if i can find something I truley enjoy but one thing for certain I'm going to slave away for the man anymore. Also our plans for that time are to move south, westernCarolina's or Northern Georgia area. We have friends that live around there and jobs in her field are plentiful.

  11. What is this "retirement?" I won't be able to retire until lunchtime the day of my funeral

  12. Some people are stuck in the 80s and 90s Ive had nothing but Gm for the last 15 years and Ive gotten more bang for my buck and milage than most people get from their over priced yuppie rides. Last few and current rides 1999 grand am had 190k on it when i sold it only issue was inake maifold leak that was a cheap easy fix. other then that the car was a tank over 12 years and i paid $7500 on the use lot with 40k on it. 07 Chevy impala got used 8 years ago with 24k mile for $13k now has 216k miles Ive never touched under hood other than a battery and power steering pump. 05 Tahoe with 160k on it, had a engine issue at fist but dealer took care of it, and had to do a fuel pump because of corosion issue but thats it. Oh yea only paid $14k for it on the used lot 7 years ago with 80k on it. And our newer car 14 Impala 40k miles and hasent been in the shop yet. So i dont get when people say "GM quality shit" now days. I'll admit in the 80s and early 90s it did suck.

  15. Homeowners have certain rights that renters don't have. Buy something that's structurally sound but needs remodeled. I did one room at a time. Been here ten years and it's now worth 3 times what I owe. Good Luck!

  18. So, my local dealer was going to be dealer transferring the bike in from another dealer, but the other dealer wanted to play games and charge "transfer fees" which is a load of BS. I have seen dealers do this in the short amount of time I've worked at a dealership. So now I am getting the bike shipped straight from Yamaha, going to be here next week.

  19. go to pony, try on a few, see what fits then estimate what you need. The manufacturers usually have a pretty good sizing chart for every part of 1 piece suits. That said, you could do it the old fashioned way and just get out a sewing tape measure and know your exact sizes.
