  1. I'm in! Just booked a room, two double beds. If anyone needs a place to sleep, let me know. Probably trailering down so I can bring the MTB and the drone. See you guys down there!

  2. The manager of the Columbus store is Taylor, she was at the Cleveland/North Olmsted Cycle Gear previously. She's awesome and not just because we're friends. :)

  4. Cycle Gear opened up a shop in Columbus this weekend and I stopped by today. Pretty small, by Pony standards, but they had a nice selection of helmets, jackets, leathers, some parts and tools, etc. (only saw K&N filters ) I tried on a set of AlpineStars Missile leathers that fit well and bought some base layer pants and shirt. I talked with the manager there and they offer discounts for recent "graduates" of the state safety program of 10 or 15% and a better set of pricing for coaches. Pretty cool. She seems real interested and able to beat Pony pricing or take back returns from stuff ordered online. Still probably continue to work with RidersDiscount for a lot of stuff but its good know there is another player in town, I'll be back. They do host bike nights semi regularly, based on their location, I wonder what that'll be like! I sense a new meet spot for acceleration testing. When I was getting set to leave, a contingent from Columbus Riders showed up, first Pani V4 I'd seen in the wild, an S1000RR, and a couple ZX-10s.

  6. I came in here expecting a bunch of people hating on matte helmets because I swear that's happened in here before when this has been brought up. I have lots of miles on my rf1200 and I feel the same way, no harder to clean than any of my gloss helmets. I still have to use my finger nails sometimes and I still get bug guts stuck in the cracks of the vents and shit. I don't think its any hotter than my others either. The outer shell might absorb more but my matte helmet is also black.

  8. You could have either finish. icon has rubatone, or there's flat top coat. I would say both (mid end helmet finished) are harder to clean (if not regularly) plus you could wax/pam gloss. Also depending depending on what you hit it on like boxers and vasoline, gloss is less likely to scuff. Less to grab the road if you hit is better too. Wouldn't stop me from buying one I wanted or pay extra though. I wear them out and don't covet resale value. pic when new. now at two hard years not so nice.

  9. This is my old one that I just sold. 2 years old and just cleaned it with ammonia free glass cleaner and occasional soap water. My new one only has about 50 miles on haven't had to clean it yet.

  10. I had a matte black rf1000 and it wasn't any hotter than any other helmet and the bugs wiped off just as easy as gloss

  13. WV has roads that are every bit as good as the roads around the gap...and with less traffic and LEOs.
