  1. First, I'd like to thank the Columbus Racing community for the opportunity to become part of this family of gear heads. The main reasons why I want to be here is too meet people, trade ideas, learn new stuff, and hopefully help out other members when I can. A little about me: My history with cars dates back to the age of 10, when I was a garage helper for my father. He was mainly into Mopar muscle cars, but he did own some Ford and Chevys along the way. Jumping forward about 5 years, my first car was a 84 Plymouth Gran Fury which I bought at an auction from the highway patrol. I drove that car for a year and then got rid of it to my dad. I stayed on the domestic side until about 1998 when I was exposed to the import scene. I wanted to try something new so I sold my 5.0 mustang and my camaro and bought a civic hatchback. I seen them as a challenge, and wanted to try to harvest hp out of a small engine. My current car lineup consists of a 1999 integra, 1997 civic, and a 1995 camry i use as a daily driver. As far as my work history, I have worked for many dealerships included an acura dealership I recently parted ways with. I left to go to work at a custom shop, which is the direction I have wanted to go for sometime. I love working on cars, but I also love welding and fabrication. So working for a custom shop allows me to do both, and I feel that I'm a better fit there than in a monotonous dealership environment. As far as which direction I want to go in the future, I would like try out new stuff like autox, drifting, and older vehicles like roadsters, rat rods, resto-mods, ect. Here is some pics of my integra: http://i526.photobucket.com/albums/cc350/civicjspecturbo/beads079.jpg http://i526.photobucket.com/albums/cc350/civicjspecturbo/99integrapics008edit.jpg http://i526.photobucket.com/albums/cc350/civicjspecturbo/99integrapics003edit.jpg http://i526.photobucket.com/albums/cc350/civicjspecturbo/99integrapics002edit.jpg

  2. I have heard and seen a billion people try to explain the physics behind counter steering, and while I have always understood the basic principle, it was explained to me in a new way this past weekend that makes a ton more sense than it ever has before. Hopefully I do this justice in writing... I take it as common knowledge that a moving motorcycle wants to stay upright (due to the gyroscopic effect of the wheels, and the rotation of the crankshaft). So it should be equally obvious that you have to "upset" the bike's natural tendencies to get it to turn at speed. What I think most people fail to grasp is why you have to turn the bars left (albeit an imperceptible amount) to make the bike fall to the right. Tom (WERA race school Tom) held up a stick (corner worker flag) and set it upright on the table. He said, "if this is a motorcycle, the wheels are on the ground, but the center of gravity is somewhere around here" (in the middle of the stick). "So in order to make the stick (bike) fall to the right, you can push the top to the right, OR, you can push the bottom to the left, from below the center of gravity." At speed on a motorcycle, you have very little leverage to push the top of the bike either direction. You have nothing to push off of. But you have COMPLETE control over the front wheel. You can essentially "push" the wheels out from under the bike, and force it to fall. Maybe other people have easily understood that for a long time, but that was a total "lightbulb" moment for me, all because he was holding a damn stick, and rotating it from the center, instead of the base.

  3. I fucking hate clowns, and not real fond of erections that aren't my own. A clown with an erection would scare the everloving shit out of me.

  11. It basically goes like this -- abortion is a legal, non-cosmetic medical procedure. The supreme court has declared it so. As a legal non-cosmetic medical procedure, it should be paid for by Medicare. There's no logical reason to restrict federal funds for it. But pro-lifers are trying to do an end-run around the supreme court by defunding abortion at the federal level. This in and of itself is a bullshit violation of constitutional rights that's being pursued, if we're honest here, by pro-life people with an agenda to ultimately make abortion illegal. But let's set their real motivation aside for a moment and pretend that they're defunding abortion because it's an "unnecessary" medical procedure. I can kinda see some logic in that angle, but it all crumbles away when you start poking at it. "What about medically necessary abortions performed to save the life of the mother?" Granted, some pro-lifers are even opposed to those, but most normal people would agree that those are OK, and should be funded. "What about cases of rape and incest?" Again, some pro-lifers feel that even rape and incest abortions aren't medically necessary, and the women should therefore be required to carry those babies to term. However, most Americans wretch at the though, so we'll go ahead and pay for rape and incest abortions as well. "Well, what if a woman claims she was raped but she's just lying to get a free abortion?" Well, fuck, I guess we have to grill these women to make sure that they were really raped. And not just raped, but forcibly raped. Mind you, we're not just grilling the liars. No, we have to grill everyone, even if 98% of them are legitimate rape victims. Yup, we've got to put them through the ringer and make sure they were really good and raped. I have so many other objections to the concept of defunding abortions like this, but none of them really matter. When you get to a point in your lawmaking where you think it's OK to make rape victims prove they were really, really raped in order to pay for their abortions, you're just an asshole. There's really no way around it. The only decent thing to do is realize that your whole idea is garbage and just pay for abortions. It's not that big a deal, financially, and the cost savings are totally, in no way, worth putting women through this awful nonsense. And that's the end of it. I'm just glad that this bill has no hope of passing. Still, I think it's bullshit that anyone can possible think it's a good idea. On preview: I don't care if you don't want to support "the killing of innocents." As long as it's a constitutionally protected right, you need to fucking get over it.

  12. by breaking 6 safety rules I worked on a loading dock as a supervisor and the boss's office windows were about 10ft high and overlooked the dock. I had one of the guys lift me up with the forklift to window level, opened his window and leaned in saying "oh yea this is my last day unless you really want me to put in my 2 weeks". He closed the window on me and was none to pleased

  16. That statement makes you sound incredibly ignorant. I'd be curious to see the pictures just like anyone else. A decision was made not to show the pictures for a reason, and I agree with it. If they did show them, I wouldn't be apposed either. We are supposed to be civilized westerners, and not act like a bunch of barbaric tribesman with a bloodlust, dragging dead bodies through the streets and sticking heads of our enemies on sticks. That would make us no better than what we our trying to put an end to in this world.

  17. Hey everyone! I moved to Dayton back in November when I came on active duty with the USAF. Since then I've been in and out of the state for training but now I'm back for a stable period of time...thank god! Anyway, I'm looking to make friends around this area and columbus/ciny areas for people into cars. I'm wanting to get into autox but more so big track days. Any and all help with either of these, more so track days, would be awesome! Also looking for social events to just meet people. I heard cars and coffee is pretty good saturday mornings so I might hit that up this saturday. -Carl

Building cars is what I do for a living, and I enjoy it for myself as well. We do work on all rear wheel drive cars, so if you guys need work done, let me know. We also have Dyna-packs to take car of dyno work. There have been many Rx-7's in the past, but here is the latest car I built over two years ago, and this year I did alot of updates. 25. I thought I'd tell yal about the school district in which my parents live. Warren school district near Marietta, OH wants money and keeps spamming special elections trying to get one passed so far in the last 12 months they've held 4 elections and been voted NO each time. They will be having a 5th soon because the people voted no last Tuesday. To me this has to be wrong in some way. I mean what good is a vote if the schools can simply ignore it and hold another election. I also bet that if they get a YES the "NO" voters can't just hold elections every 3-4 months until they get the "NO" they are waiting for.
