  2. This is yearly odds ratio, IP(and yourself earlier) is/are using stats which cite lifetime odds. You need some fancier math to be able to directly compare them. An extremely oversimplified analysis would be to say that if the average person in the county lives to be 80, and the yearly homicide rate is 1/100,000, then the lifetime odds are 80 * (1/100000) which is 1 in 1250. This is not an actual lifetime odds analysis, but shows that yearly odds are vastly different than lifetime odds, and you cannot compare them directly in a meaningful way.

  3. This is the largest intro thread tapestry of BS I've seen yet from a non-boob-n-vag owner. Typically the female intros get sticky floors from all the scrotum dragging, but this place smells like a freakin' manure wagon Wow....sort of epic in a sad, crying over nothing kind of way

  4. Hi everyone, I just moved here about 6 months ago from just outside Boston and have been trying to meet the local car people. I've met a few people the couple of times I've been over to Cars and Coffee (I was the guy on the Red Ducati 748S,) and everyone told me I need to join here as well, so here I am. Quick Details: Name: Brian Location: Dublin Occupation: Mechanical Engineer Rides: 2005 GTO, 2005 Grand Cherokee (3" Lift, on 33s), 99 Ducati 748S, "Formula SAE"/A-mod Auto-X car If you just want the pictures, skip the next few paragraphs. There are plenty of them! I have a M.S. in mechanical engineering from WPI (Worcester Polytechnic Institute, in Worcester Mass.) My senior and grad thesis projects were basically designing and build a single seat formula race car from scratch, it consumed a lot (read: all) of my time, and probably took a few years off my life, but it was probably the best overall automotive experience I've had. I also started a retail automotive business with my father back on CT in 2006 dealing in Tuning and DAQ equipment and tend to do a fair a mount of EFI tuning. Automotive related interests/hobbies: Motocross/Supercross (started racing when I was 5) HPDE track days and bike track days, Tuning. Hoping to get into some time attack and eventually NASA competition level racing in the semi-near future as well. Now for the pictures: My Ducati 748 with my buddies Monster 620 (my bike has some carbon fiber bits, full termignoni exhaust system, and custom tune with a full DAQ system). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v376/briansb/Ducs_Wach.jpg And my 05 GTO. Phantom Metallic Black w/ black/red interior, Pedders Springs (35mm drop), Hotchkis Sway bars, Catless/Magnaflow Cat-back, Monster Clutch/Hurst short throw, a bunch of tuning time, SAP grills, Monaro 427 tail lights and other Aussie bit, and ton of other things I am forgetting... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v376/briansb/GTO2.jpg And my formula car: Was originally a Formula SAE car then converted to run as a standard A-Mod autocross car. Runs a CBR 600 f4i engine, custom monoshock suspension setup with hand built chassis and a bunch of 1-off parts. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v376/briansb/HIN_Nopi_NJ-2010/Side_rear.jpg And a bunch of other pictures: Some of me racing or building a few of the other formula cars I've been involved in, etc: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v376/briansb/rides.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v376/briansb/12_Frame_Weld.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v376/briansb/12_Dyno.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v376/briansb/fktmp1_0013.jpg Hope to meet some more of you guys around at some events this spring/summer

  13. Yes you can but it's rare for you to continue agreeing on the custody stuff or one parent does completely dumbshit. 11 years ago for me and thousands of dollars spent to take rights away. After all the majority on here say people change, they will change even more afterwards sometimes for the worse. She might hate you when she sees how you posted trash on here about her online. Pretty disrespectful and I wouldn't blame her.

  19. I don't know if you still can but this is how I ended my first. We agreed to everything on paper (house, bank accounts, bills, etc. (no kids though, only my dog)), had a lawyer look it over, went in front of the judge and walked out after 5 minutes a single man.

  20. In 2010, there was a homicide. It was ruled self-defense, but I believe you yourself have said even in self-defense it is murder. So no, it wasn't 0 for 2010. I'm sure I'll be able to shoot more holes in your points when I have more free time.

  24. I think Farkas means more about living in fear than trusting everyone you pass that day. The reasoning of some people on here, it seems, is that they need to have a firearm within reach every moment of everyday; there is no other option for them. Their reasoning is that you never know when something may go down. I can understand that. However, what are the chances that you'll find yourself in that exact situation? I bet it's less that the possibility of getting in an accident and seriously injuring or killing yourself or being seriously injured or killed by another in an accident. Before anyone answers, I mean that perfect storm of an incident that directly involves you and the use of a firearm where you'll find yourself able to protect yourself with well placed shots; no panic, not injuring a bystander, making things worse or injuring yourself. Of all the incidents in the world in one day, how often does that really happen? I know, even if it's one in a billion, you want to be ready, right? Well... With this reasoning, why aren't you doing other things to stave off possible death? Do those who think as I've said above sit down and bathe as opposed to standing in a shower? Wouldn't want to risk slipping. How about boarding your windows up for obvious reasons? Another thing I question is why is it many of you are into extreme motorsports? I thought you were super concerned with you and your family's well-being? I mean, you want to carry a gun that makes others uncomfortable in public; into private establishments; others' opinions be damned. And when you cannot, you attack those without your beliefs? Why stop there? Perhaps, you should start wearing latex gloves and a mask everytime you're in public, too. Better have your family wear them, as well. Just to be safe. Lotta of diseases out there and they only seem to be increasing. No more walking thru the woods. Don't wanna get bit by a tick and spider. Hell, what if one of you is allergic? Do you see what I'm saying. I could give examples like this for days. Bear with me, there's a reason why I point these things out. Do you see the extremes of living in fear? Those are just different branches of the same tree. This is why some pro firearm people catch so much flak and not just from those who think guns are bad. (Suprise, many of us do not and many of us own firearms, as well.) It just doesn't make reasonable sense. It's the illogical and extreme thinking and actions by some gun carriers that causes this rift. I know, I know, TLDR. I'm almost done. I'm not saying what's right and what's wrong. Some find certain things are worth more risk than others. I apparently believe it's worth the risk to go out without a firearm. Who am I to put a limit on your personal beliefs? However, when that reason is blinded by fear and your beliefs are so strong as to blind you to the fact, then you've gone too far. It's about more than guns, it's about extremist and uncompromising beliefs. Something that affects far too many facets of our culture. Just my .02.

  38. Just for fun. I might go to a test and tune night at a drag strip now and then but the car is just for me to have fun with. I guess "drag" is what I would build it for but I use the term loosely. I use to take my CRX to autocross and that was fun. I just want more power at the moment.
