  1. I'm Mike, and I live in Pickerington Ohio. I retired from the Air Force after a 26 year career, and am currently employed as an Electronic Technician at the Postal Service. I drive a '12 Cadillac CTS-V, which my wife affectionately refers to as my mistress. I'll post a pic or two later, as the work computer will not allow me access to photobucket or anything like that. My only mod to date is an Airaid CAI. I'm planning for electric cutouts, and a ported throttle body in the near future, but that's it until the warranty runs out. Later mods will be an upper pulley, tune, and probably injectors. I found out about this site at Columbus cars and coffee, where I was told that this was the forum to be on for anything racing or any other car events in the area. While I've never had my car on the track, I'd like to put her on a road course, and I think it would be fun to do a flying 1/2 mile or mile run to see how fast she is.

  2. Yup, did it again 2014 Street Glide Special They did a lot of little refinements to the new model. Bigger forks, redesigned tripple trees, better shocks, hydraulic clutch, redesigned fairing, redesigned bags and latching system, abs with linked brakes, 6.5" touch screen infotainment with navigation, better cam, better air cleaner, and other things I'm forgetting. I'm really enjoying this thing, as is the wife. 700 miles on it since last Sunday. Big thanks to A.D. farrow Northstar for the great buying experience. Btw I hate hash tags

  3. Had a great time on my first Epic Ride. I left the house at 6:10am and returned at 9:05pm with 518 additional miles on the odometer. Fighting the fog on Rt 83 from Lodi to Coshocton was certainly worth the effort. Learned a few things about the limits of myself and about my machine. Many thanks to Derek, Wolfman and all Leads/Sweeps for taking on the organizational PITA side of things so that the rest of us could have a wonderful day. Also, thanks to Al Z Heimer (I think) for some useful advice in the parking lot prior to starting.

  6. New Guy Suggestion: I can recommend a location outside of Ohio that is in Romney, Wva. I have been to this events and it's laid back and relaxed fun with some great Garmin (gpx) routes to ride for all types of riding. The ride there and back is an event in itself. The dealership is not the sponsor but he goes out of his way to make sure B-fast and Dinner, fire pit and coffee and test rides are available and the dealership grounds are great for camping. Also there are hotels and formal campgrounds close by. Check the link and see if this is something you might like for this group. http://www.stromtrooper.com/events/158569-spring-2014-romney-west-virginia-may-2-4-a.html http://www.stromtrooper.com/events/80650-spring-2013-romney-west-virginia-may-3-5-a.html

  7. Sorry for the late post. It's been non-stop since I got back. Father-in-Law is a bit sick and I worked Sunday. I had a great time on the ride. The 2nd half was crazy cool with the transitions - nothing like that up north. I'll be honest though the ride down sucked with the fog and temperature plus I had just got off work. My apologies if I was a bit non-talkative. I was a little tired all day and I was solely concentrated from being the sole one to kiss the pavement. That's the longest ride I've ever taken and the trip back through farm country at night was a strange one but glad for the experience. Everyone in the "slow" pack was great; the ride went off without a hitch. Jack was a great lead and our sweep (sorry! can't remember screen name ) was always right there. I wish I had of taken some pictures but again I was kind of focused. Thanks to the organizers. I know these events don't just go well by themselves. Surprisingly I wasn't sore at all next day. Funny story - when I came in my wife was waiting to hear the bike so she could open the garage. I went to walk in the house and she let out a scream and told me to get my bug encrusted butt outside and made me drop my gear, including pants outside. My girls came downstairs to see what the ruckus was about and busted out laughing seeing me in my skivvies looking like "a rabid ferret" according to one. Funny now - wasn't then. If this goes off in the spring I'll plan to attend but will probably stay the night in the area so that I can go out with the group after the run. If I can help with the organizing, setup, etc. let me know. I like to feel useful. How Al Z. Heimer pilots that Star Cruiser around the curves at that speed is still a mystery to me. Everyone stay safe.

  11. Congrats! I was in the same boat, where I had an offer for the company I work for now, and an offer from Harley for 5K more... I asked this place to match Harley's offer, but my story didn't end like your daughter's... They said "nope!" LOL, I took the job anyway, though, and I'm happy here. I didn't get to meet you over the weekend on the Epic ride, but I wanted to say I DID check out your bike in the parking lot, and it's beautiful... I'm a little jealous

  12. A "scenery" ride would be great, too, if we had enough time. When you ride twisties, you're looking down most of the time... Granted there's often just corn & cows to look at, so you're not missing much, but on the way down I rode alongside a little river for a few miles that was great! Every few hundred yards there'd be a little canoe-rental place and such, and with the trees on one side and the river on the other, it was great scenery... Made me pretty happy to be cruising along, not cooped up in a car, and just out for a ride enjoying the sights.

  13. No worries Most people swear by Douglas Adams, and although THGttG was a great read, it's a little tongue-in-cheek. I'm a lover of hard sci-fi, and Robert Heinlein definitely delivers on that! BEAUTIFUL bike, btw, was nice to meet you and see it up close!

  14. Two awesome events in relatively short order: Totally enjoyed the Epic Ride over the weekend - great riding and awesome people! Then today I hear that my daughter landed her first career job. The company initially lowballed her on salary and she was disappointed because she really wanted to work for this company. She hates confrontation but stuck to her guns and asked for more - she thought she was going to puke the whole time. Her prospective manager and director took it up to HR and VP and got it done. Proud pappa here!

  17. Hello all! I hope everyone had an Epic experience on Saturday. It sounds like everyone made it home safe. What a beautiful day for a ride! It was great to see everyone again and I hope to see you all again on the next one in the spring. Next time I will be on 2 wheels! Thanks again to all leads and sweeps who were willing to take on the added responsibilities. I wish I was out there with ya all. The family and I went to old mans cave and caught multiple crawdads and guppies. Kids had a blast. Let us know if there is anything we can do to make the Epic ride even more Epic. I hope the signs helped with the organization on arrival. We had a suggestion to move the route over to the east. I know there are some awesome roads over that way. Please feel free to comment about changing the route and meet point. I took some pictures and posted the album for all to see. Its not going to be close to the media greatness we see from NinjaDoc & DizzleDan! Thanks again for all your comments and I hope to see you all again soon.

  21. I love the progress I am making on this bike. I got a lot done this weekend. got the throttle cables and the choke cable greased and hooked up. Wiring harness is almost done. Grips are on. Dash is on. All wiring connections have been greased. Rear fender is on, this is big bc it has a lot to do with getting the wiring harness complete. Should have it ready to fire up for the first time here in the next few months!!!!

  28. my daughter started smiling (like, intentionally, not just muscle twitches from her young developing noggin). every time i see it, my heart stops for just a half beat. hopefully my swelling heart will make up for the arrhythmia.
