  1. That thing looks delicious.
  2. I've noticed some small improvements to flash-loaded sites, and some streaming improvements. YouTube is a slight improvement, but some of the other sites that have embedded video with more crap going on around them (ads & whatnot on wimp.com is an example), I tend to think it handles all of that a bit better than previously. As long as it loads redtube, I'm good though...
  3. I've had an SV, and dropped one before. Let me say this: -Carbon Fiber Frame Sliders -Chrome Handle grips -New flush mounts -Brand New Radiator This means it's been dropped, and you fixed it. The SVs beg to break the radiator when they're dropped, and my turn signals got jacked too. That's exactly when I got flushmounts... And for 8500, I'm hoping he just forgot to add a year's worth of blowjobs from Katy Perry on that list...
  4. i might be in for 9mm, depending on how much we all have to buy.
  5. Wait, they let you fly planes now?
  6. Don't bring your logic and reason here, boy.
  7. Nick, this is why we can't have nice things....
  8. apologies all around, at least I had the direction right.
  9. Alpinestars SP-1 Gloves These seem to me to be the step just below the GP Techs that R1 was talking about prior. I've had these since my first trackday at Gingerman, and I can say that they're held up beautifully. A couple things to note here: First, they keep their shape quite well, almost too well if you're waiting for them to relax. As far as my experience goes, they have almost exactly the same fit they did when I got them 3 years ago. That being said, if you want them to fit right, my experience has taught me to size them correctly from the first use and not to count on them relaxing too much. Second, with my hand, to get the gloves to fit as I prefer them when on the track (nice and tight), the strap that tightens right behind the wrist is very snug, even when fully loosened. I have to pull them on with a bit of a tug by the time I'm sweaty in the afternoon sessions. The pic below shows me just getting them on, and you can see I have to pull them on instead of slide them on. Now, those are the ONLY cons I could manage to come up with for these gloves. They have held up beautifully, and if you're not a rockstar moneybagger like Jinu or R1, then these come in at a price point right under the GP Techs, and I've found them to be terrific gloves. They do their job just as well as the big boys without the savage sodomy of you wallet. I've even wrecked in them, and they have not a scratch to show for it. They still aren't the cheapest thing around, but they perform with the best. All my A-Star stuff holds up great, and these are no exception.
  10. Actually, as long as it's a modern "wave chopper" type (and not a really old simple varistor type), it will actually work. Besides the easy reasoning of saying I have one in my house that varies my ceiling fan motor, I could go over why it would work if someone really needs me to, but I promise it works just fine. The motor doesn't see a perfect AC wave, but with the massive inductive load of the motor and another "choke" inductor in the dimmer itself, the chopped wave smooths out to an only slightly asymmetric sine wave, which an AC motor can deal with just fine. You just don't get 100% of the possible efficiency from the motor, but the losses really aren't that great. Since I'm not trying to make an electric race car with my ceiling fan, I don't mind the few percent drop in efficiency, and neither would you in your application. Just make sure your dimmer could handle the kind of high constant current you'd throwing at it, without blowing up the SCR/triac inside.
  11. Now we're talkin'.... Just build your little frame right, and you can get yourself into trouble in no time. a 5kW inverter will neither be small nor light, and will be hot as a biiiiitch when pumping out a decent load. But again, that would be quite a fun time.
  12. Since when does Nick like BMWs and use words like "pristine"??!?
  13. Is that a short joke? Because it's already a hate crime...
  14. I see an ugly white guy in your avatar.
  15. I had to edit my earlier post for failing at the internets. I feel like it ruined the joke. :sadjew:
  16. Well, that was easy. Thanks for the info, guys.
  17. perhaps this was covered and I didn't read it, but what tool (if any) do you use to get those pretty uniform twists on the wire?
  18. Sweet little gentle jbot jesus, this has been exhausting and awesome... like beating your money back outta the hooker when she leaves your car.
  19. hmmm, a deputy district attorney in jail.... ass, meet rape.
  20. at least daddy raised one of you right. i'll stop the derailment now, since i'm of no use to the original topic anyway. as you were.
  21. Sure. If you only want 500mA. The principle of an inverter is sound, just the cost of making one that handles AC motor kind of power is quite another animal. Ask Tesla.
