  1. I feel sorry for you all that live in the city. I can be on the REAL roads within 5 minutes, I see the best of the fall foliage, and still have the convenience of shopping and entertainment within minutes. I like the changes in the seasons, and not being buried by feet of snow, but its nice every now and then. Ohio is a good place to live.

  2. I dont run in the cold unless its a race... 5k event or something. I hate wearing sleeves and pants when I run, so I usually just stick to a hat & gloves.... I hate how restricted I feel with the excessive winter clothing. t-shirt and shorts are the way to go for me.

You just wear a hat and gloves? thats about as unrestricted as it gets.

  3. If it is anything like the CV carbs on my bike, the popping and backfiring at idle is a result of a lean mixture. Make sure you have sealed up any air leaks you may have. Your tube you just replaced, your air box, and your exhaust gasket. If the crush ring on your exhaust is bad, it will cause the backfire. If everything is sealed up ok, you may have to adjust the pilot screw. I believe in is richer out is leaner. Adjust in 1/4 turns to desired result. Hope it helps, theres not many peeps that can deal with carbs. I am a novice, so dont tal

  4. So, is there any particular time that is better than another to run? I get up at 545 in the morning for work, so I don't think I am going to get up earlier than that to go for a run. Is afterwork okay?

Run when you like to run...dont let anyone or anything dictate when you go. I hit the Y as soon as I drop my daughter off at school on my days off. I cannot get motivated to go in the evening. I have a co-worker that runs 5k every day at 2pm. its all you.

  5. I manage to get in 9-12 miles per week. Either on the mill or outside. My best advise, other than what everyone else has already said is this. Dont try to determine what kind of runner you are an buy shoes off the shelf.I made that mistake, bought a very expensive pair of Mizuno Nirvana wave runners. Great shoe, but not for my running style. They were for an overpronator, and I caused myself a serious case of shin splints. took me several months to heal up. Go to Fleet Feet. They will have you stand on a mat and get an impression of your arches, they will run you in your socks, and in your shoes, then fit you up in the right pair. The shoes cost no more than what they do at Dicks, and they are all RUNNING shoes. I wear Asics GT2450's and can run 5K pain free. Change your shoes every 6 months. I am 5'7" 205 built like a fireplug....best 5k 30:27

  6. I just bought a Toshiba from Tiger Direct and when it came out of the box, it had the thin cling on plastic film on the bezel to protect it during shipping. What I am saying is that most mfgs. will protect their product to the fullest extent to avoid this stuff. HH Gregg is notorious for in store repackaging. It may have been returned, and once that film is pulled off, you cant put it back on. Take it back, you just made an investment in something that should last you 10 years, and every time you look at it, you wont like it.

  7. I've got 2 18v batteries for a cordless drill. I'm considering throwing the drill away, how much does he rebuild batteries for?

Sorry it took me so long to reply.... He did 2 18 volt for my Dad about a month ago, I think they were $38 each. It depends a lot on the brand. I know that the DeWalts cost more. If you consider what a new one costs, you cant beat it. He rebuilt my rechargeable batteries for my streamlight survivor I carry on my fire gear, 2 years ago, and it still lasts hours on a charge.

  8. Bought a battery from e-bay for my Thinkpad about a year ago. Gave me about 3 hours on full bore. Now I get about 1 1/2 hours out of it. I have a friend here in Cambridge that owns a battery business. He rebuilds batteries for about anything, and makes better cleaner power for laptops, etc. The only problem is if you fly, there are restrictions on how much lithium you can have in your battery. He sells any kind of battery, and rebuilds DeWalt, Makita, Ryobi, you name it, they can make it.

  9. I have line-x in my 05 Silverado. dumped about a gallon of gas in it, and it did not soften it. I have hauled a bunch of scrap metal, lumber, firewood, dirt that was shoveled out, mulch shoveled out etc. No rips, tears, or getting brittle. It is very thick and stuff doesn't slide. worth the extra money.
