  1. Depends, I ride for fun and transportation, but if I don't go anywhere fun I put a lot less miles on it just going to work... Been averaging around 1k per month. Put around 3K on my Zuki in a few months last year, including about 1K this winter. Bought the Yamaha in March, already put 3K on it and I have NOT been riding to work due to unemployment this year... LOL I'm gonna go with 10+K per year, hopefully that will go up to 20+ by next year. A nice ride out to the West coast should help that along....
  2. Saawheeeet!! Squiddly cops in Obetz huh!?! I will keep an eye out for him! I am off of Groveport, between Alum and Williams. I ride Groveport/Williams all the time heading either to 23 to shop or up to 104 to head out to 315/71N and up to the North end. Very soon you might catch me at the little stop and rob dairy mart next to Obetz hardware buying some afternoon "bike workin'" beers. Several bikes went zooming past yesterday as I was working on the frame. Some of them wave at me, presumably because I had 2 motorcycles next to me and I was busy grinding away on the stripped down frame of another. Kinda figured at least one of them would be one of ours, but so far I seem to be finding a totally different group of south-enders. There is a sport biker and a cruiser dude that seem to ride everywhere and go by several times a day, I keep hoping they will drop by for a min or I will catch them when I am close enough to the road to flag them down. Feed them a few beers and point them toward OR.com right quick....
  3. Yammer ran fine, stripping an entire frame with wire brushes sucks balls.... Should have it painted today unless I get distracted or drunk or drunkenly distracted.
  4. Damnit, if it isn't the cagers, it's the pigs trying to harsh my ride... Finally get some agreeable weather and it turns into a mix of hillbilly derby car and Mad Max out there!! LOL I DID see a lot of accidents yesterday, and many this week including two fatalities, one on a motorcycle in Dublin. Cops running traffic have been pretty thick as well particularly on the freeway system. Didn't notice any on the back roads up home last week though.
  5. Got the cruiser up and moving... I only feel a little stupid.... So the backfire blew the carb right out of the intake on the cylinder head. I had noticed it look like it was pushed back, but got no response when I gave it the old hillbilly poke and a shake while it was running. I had no starter fluid when it broke down, so that was the best I could do at the time. (being parked on the side of a tar and chip road near Deliverance country) I just got a wild hair up my ass and decided to give another shot at it before performing major surgery and took the starter fluid to the suspect carb while idling... instant results from a short spray and I then I spend the next 20 minutes wrestling the carb back into the rubber intake... (two flat head screw drivers and a few smart thumps with the palm of your hand at the right moment is the key here....) I am somewhat impressed that it blew out like that, it fits pretty snug and there isn't much wiggle room for the carb to even pull loose... Anyway,I am riding the bike to buy a plug-in drill (cordless one lacks stamina) to finish stripping paint/rust from the Suzuki frame in celebration. Ciao!!
  6. No, you have to FEEL threatened... as long as you can articulate in court how you, as a rational human being, felt as though you were in imminent mortal danger, what the other person could have done or did do is fairly irrelevant... In the police academy we had to sound off with "stop resisting!!" during all of our hand to hand and non-lethal weapons training... Instructor told us that it goes much better in court when you can be heard on the video shot by neighbors instructing the subject to "stop resisting..." Edit: Personally I prefer, "drop the gun" or "he's got a gun" or at least yelling "get back, get the fuck back" a few times before the first round... Makes sure the neighbors know you gave plenty of warning first. The fact that you actually knocked them out with a bat 5 minutes ago and are about to execute them as they are tied to a chair is just between you and the chair.... (make sure you untie them from the chair BEFORE the cops arrive, stupid...) I always considered the knee to BE the warning... Warning shots are anything not directed at center mass. I use the motion light, followed by full blood German shepherd, followed by scary man coming from the shadows with a loaded pistol progression of force myself. If I have to actually get out of my nice warm bed, someone is gonna get fucking hurt at my house tonight. Remember kids, light comes on and dog barks, then you run like hell... or else...
  7. Nice, bookmarked that one for future reference!! By motorcycle make AND carb make... Very nice. Thanks for the heads-up, mang! Now, if only the website could motivate me to move in the morning, or just do my work for me.... grrrrr...

    Obetz Bikers

Anyone else on here in Obetz?? I see lots of bikes, but I just moved here from Dublin and wondering if any of them are our boys/girls. If you live near me, I'm that new asshole off of Groveport riding the cruiser in black, sometimes with a passenger. I see several cruisers and a few sportbikes that all live right around me and ride past the house regularly, one or more has to be on the forum I figure, and if not I just need to convert them all and bring them to the light!! Anyone near by should ride over and help me drink a few beers while I get high on paint fumes and solvent in my driveway today... LOL Today I am working on bikes rather than riding them. About to take the laptop out and use it like a giant ipod while I strip and paint a motorcycle frame. Just sucking back a bit more caffiene and shaking off the brain fog before I get motivated. 740-358-2511 My cell for locals or bored people. Stalkers beware, I'm scarier than you... Perverts beware, I'm more sick than you.... LOL
  9. I believe one carb on my cruiser is damaged now from a backfire. While riding this weekend it popped on me and now I can hear a terrible vacuum/pressure leak coming from one carb. Hard to isolate sound exactly, but it does not appear to be external and all the vacuum lines are accounted for and attached. Bike runs like shit, consistent with one carb being half in the bag. (usually when it backfires it will just blow off the vacuum line to the petcock, annoying but easily managed) It is an 82 Yamaha 920 V-twin with Mikuni carbs if that makes a difference to anyone. My current plan is to tear off both today and if I don't find something fishy on my way to the carbs (like hose damage I missed) then I crack both open and start looking for the big nasty difference that will tell me which part needs replaced... One other question this brings up... it backfired for a reason. That reason is that it has no baffles in the pipes (not my doing) and stock jets in the carbs. SO, do I re-jet or just rig some baffles??? (can't afford the pipes I want to put on it and stock ones are expensive even from boneyard in addition to looking and sounding like crap.) I can engineer myself a glasspack out of the existing exhaust easily enough, I think. More backpressure than I get now, anyway, and it might even sound less like, um, whatever the fuck kind of sick animal it sounds like now without any baffles...
  10. The evolutionary process is painfully slow for my taste.... Especially when we keep spending time, money and energy to help keep the dumbest people alive and save.
  11. Update: This is what a 1978 Suzuki GS550 looks like naked and stripped to the frame. She has even had a nice detergent scrubbing and a bath with the hose so there is no more nasty road dirt and grease on her. Next she gets the high speed wire brush to remove rust and paint, and then the fresh paint of course!! (I'm painting the frame/swing arm/fork mounts with black truck liner.... should be nice and durable... LOL) Also ordered the engine gasket kit for it, hopefully I will get that UPS this week, and hopefully I will be ready for reassembly on the engine by then... Almost there... Clean and dry!! Good old Rustoleum for the frame parts. (No, I'm not painting that old chain... I just tossed it there last night to keep it from rusting to the driveway.) Motor cracked open on bench... Not necessarily the one going back on the frame, but I want to look inside both in case one has noticeably more wear than another or any other concerns which may make me change my mind.... And because no thread is worth anything without boobs, a pic of my very patient girlfriend. She looks deceptively sweet because she is busy laying out a new deck and some landscaping I will get stuck doing on that clipboard and making more work for me really cheers her up....
  12. bottom half is off of frame for Zuki... Motor laid out on bench in pieces... If I can find an easy fix for the Yamaha's carb, I will ride with ya one day, Rusty! I need to fix or replace a Mikuni carb on the quick though. I will tear it off first thing, well both of them I should say, and see if I can un-fuck them without much drama!
  13. Been lazy all morning... post whoring and chasing the animals around. Going to Dublin to meet cuter-half for lunch and pick up the top half of the engine, exhaust and gas tank from the stripped down 'zuki. When I get back I will actually start wrenching... Lazy, lazy bastard... Need some beer before I start too... Hmmmmmm
  14. Job market sucks dude, I have been sucking the government teat for almost 3 months now... Need a real job soon, getting sick of being poor. As for unemployment, if you go back to work they will pay you the amount you are entitled to MINUS whatever you make. Once you make more than the payment, no payment... If you know some people and work under the table doing, say, construction for the summer, well then the government will no know and you get paid TWICE... just saying...
  15. Damn, I somehow missed this until now! Speedy recovery and much sympathy!!
  16. It's warm and sunny, we are all too drunk or too busy. Hazing is for rainy days... Welcome, sucker!
  17. Congrats! Get out and enjoy that sunshine this week!!
  18. Got the week pretty much free and the sun will be a shining every day!! Which is good, because this shit is fucked up and now I don't have any roadworthy bikes to play with!!!! The bad luck which resulted in no bikes to ride this week: This weekend I was out riding up in Knox, stopped to see parents and took girlfriend to the Ye' Old Mill in Utica for some ice cream.... Get back to my parents house and my bike backfires and blows something out of one of my carbs. (there are no baffles in the exhaust, I didn't remove them and I just haven't spent the cash for new pipes or taken the time to re-jet) Now, it is a 1.5 cylinder, lacking power and making a terrible vacuum/pressure leak noise from inside one carb... Loaded it onto dad's truck and caged the poor girl home. My Suzuki(s) are out of commission since one is a legal frame (speaking with reference to the VIN number and the title for which being in my name....) and the other runs but has no title and bleeds oil as fast as you pour it in now... (I may, or may not, have two GS550s and only one title between them... I also may or may not have been riding the one that is NOT registered to me. I can DEFINITELY say that when I finish rebuilding the motor this week that the frame it goes back on WILL be the one I have titled, registered and insured... LOL ) So, here are some pics of the bikes parked at their new home in Obetz. (I have been moving here from Dublin, almost finished.) The stripped down GS is the one I will be riding after much swapping of parts, the red GS is the donor/parts bike that I (may or may not) have been riding all last year and this winter with fictitious tags... Oh, and when the 'Zuki wakes up from surgery, it will be murdered out in all it's cafe' rat-bike glory. (all 550ccs of it....) Rattle cans of flat black for the win and no more plastic bits. Anywhere. I already made patterns for the new sheet metal side covers and anything not necessary is going to the trash bin. Might not even bother with side covers at all.... bare, baby, bare... (Welder and a Saws-all, anyone?? hehehe) Basically I intend to continue riding that bitch like I stole it and I need to get all the breakable shit off and rattle can it up in anticipation of several more wrecks this summer. (wreck the cheap ones you have spare parts for... much easier that way...) My girlfriend wants me to sell it after I rebuild it and use the funds to partially finance a newer sport bike. I agree on the sport bike concept, but she is smoking bad drugs if she thinks Suzi is going anywhere... Jealous bitch, just because I had her FIRST... LOL (Oh and if anyone is selling a Ninja 636, let me know... she wants one of those, which means I have to buy one... or risk hearing about how much I suck at life.... Preferably fucked up, I like fixing them almost as much as riding and they are WAY cheaper that way...) Bikes in new home. And this is the new "Lab." It is already partitioned for dual-use. One side is an electronics workshop (as is part of the basement) and the other side is set up for small engine repair and mechanical maintenance. This is where the engine and electrical components will be getting their love prior to being reinstalled onto a freshly painted frame. We also have a garage, but there is a Honda SI project car in there too, so it is getting crowded with tools and vehicles as it is. More pics to come as I fuck up, I mean WORK ON the bikes....
  19. Congrats on surviving another, good luck on the next one!!
  20. Oh, hell yes.. another fucking crazy one. Nothing like riding a vintage 550 in teh fucking snow, did that all this winter.... Nice to see someone else with a pair of balls and more talent than money!! Don't let the hater snobs talk shit, they bought their shit new and ride them all nice and shiny around a nice safe track in favorable weather only.... and probably trailered the bike to the track too... The old KZ/GS bikes won't win any races or beauty contests, but I love the hell out of my old POS and it hasn't killed me yet!
  21. Welcome!! I see you have a KZ550.... I have a few of the Suzuki 550s, rebuilding them this week too!! See you around Dublin!
  22. I have seen this too, but a poor solution for the same reasons listed above, too hard to enforce, unreliable, and expensive. (amusing though, really makes the rats squirm to mention the possibility of a drug test... hehehhe) Better yet, get rid of welfare, stop taking the money I earn and giving it to lazy useless trash and set up snipers at the old welfare offices to pick off the ones that don't starve to death on their own. Fucking communists and socialists should all die terribly whilst the rest of us watch, either for amusement or as a cautionary tale.... This, by the way, is my "gentle, not enough coffee to be awake and really honest" point of view on socialism. Wait till about noon and ask me again....

    Squid

I'm still waiting for blunt-smoking dread-wearing squidly t-shirts... Those sounded pretty cool... Mmmmmm.... calamari....
  24. Are you high, or are you one of those that only rides 200mi a year?? LOL These idiots are everywhere, all year long... I DO feel your need to vent, but I keep running out of ammo since I can only carry so much in a backpack... And road rage is fine on the bike... just so long as you remember that you will LOSE EVERY TIME to the cages if you piss one off enough. I will buzz an asshole and fly them the bird, but keep in mind that if they swerve, or decide to run you down at the next light you had better be on your toes... It is far from recommended, but it is mostly your own life you risk, provided you aren't carrying passengers. Personally, I won't make an ass of myself and fly birdies around unless I know I can get away from the cager in question with ease. Too easy for them to take out a bike either by choice or accident. And I have found that I can draw and aim a pistol on a bike, or make emergency maneuvers, but not both... Choices, choices....
