    Just a shotgun

errr, don't think so edit: making something illegal, doesn't make that something illegal... it makes the illegal something primarily lol, did that make any sense at all?
  3. It's a bunch of little casinos that opened all over the place. Can't spit without hitting one of them. Lots of cash, and open all night. Really attractive target for a bad guy. Or at least one of the local police chiefs said something like that.
  4. I like the idea of light mass, but aluminum for a sprocket gives me the creeps. I did get one of those fancy aluminum with steel teeth, and will install it next time I need one. It looked like they might be dropped for my bike, so I grabbed one. But I also bought a plain steel sprocket in case I change my mind. No big deal, I got two bikes they fit on. edit: what I picked up is a Supersprox. And they didn't stop making them to fit mine. Aluminum with steel teeth riveted together. Their kit uses RK chain. Kit is 330.57 and rear sprocket alone is 89.95
  5. You can quote me on this... What a piece of crap sprocket. Why would anyone buy one of those?
  6. edit: oh look ... an accidental double post, now gone....
  7. Just guessing on motorcycle o-ring design, based on years of mechanical and aircraft design. The two most common materials used would be Buna-N (Nitrile) or butyl. One is ok and the other is not. I really doubt the butyl would be used for moving parts exposed to the elements and chemistry of cleaners and lubes. Even on a cheap chain, it wouldn't save much for the manufacturer. The style of o-ring would save some cost, if it were a simple o-ring instead of a fancy X shape. If I dig out the aircraft maintenance manuals or design manuals, they will probably give similar information. Maybe will look it up when I get home. edit: most of the damage to a chain will come from dirt, grit, dried out o-rings and o-rings damaged by aggressive cleaning with a hard bristle brush.
  8. The following o-ring materials listed as safe, are safe with Stoddard solvent (wd-40). http://www.efunda.com/glossary/design/oring/design--oring--chemical--stoddard_solvent.cfm Now the question is, what o-ring material do motorcycle chains use. edit: interesting blurb on motorcycle chain design. hrmm, maybe I start lubing chain again. http://chain-guide.com/applications/1-5-2-motorcycle-chain.html

    headlights

Sylvania Silverstar - brighter replacement for stock. These bulbs may burn out quicker than stock. relatively cheap and quick fix. Keep a spare headlight bulb on the bike. (the old bulb will work) I bought a two pack from amazon There's two or more types of Silverstar bulbs. One is lower cost standard replacement. It has good improvement on light hitting the road. There's an upgrade type that's more expensive. I haven't tried those. Bulbs meant for cars and trucks will fail from vibration. The Silverstar motorcycle series are vibration resistant. The one that I know works for me is the H4ST. edit: don't touch the bulb with bare hands when installing. That will shorten the bulb life.
  10. Let me think. I use AGM and top them off over the Winter about once a month, using a simple low amp maintainer. Stored indoors. The last battery I replaced worked for ten years, and still works. It's just weak and cranks slower. I'm not changing anything.
  11. probably so, but it gets thrown off anyway. Or collects grit and dirt which is worse. so the sprockets wear out with the chain, darn. I suppose there is some extra heat build up in metal to metal contact without lube also. edit: The Bel Ray is pretty highly rated by people and websites. I'll have to get some so it can sit around while I don't use it. Not sure, I may already have some... sitting around while I don't use it.
  12. imho, the reason wd-40 works so well, is the main ingredient is Stoddard fluid, which is chain cleaner. And a modern o-ring chain doesn't need lubed, it only needs to be cleaned. I pretty much just wipe o-ring chains down, and don't bother lubing them anymore. so far, I haven't noticed a difference. If so, then I'll start lubing them again. DuPont multi dry wax stuff if I can find it. I've got a few old cans to use up. edit: and yes, DuPont dropping or changing that item not only pissed off all the motorcycles, but all the bicycles also. A wise move would be to bring it back for the reasonably good market share. They didn't even market it for that, and they had a decent chunk of change. Free Kittens!!

War Su Meow My cats were always half wild outdoor cats. At least they would bring food home sometimes...
  14. Many teams would do that, they want to get away to someplace quiet. I stayed at a small place in Daytona, and found Waltrip and crew had rented the entire place except for where I stayed closest to the beach. The manager was really cautious renting the room to us. Apparently they turned down the kids and took two engineers that probably would be quiet.
  15. lol, I'm serious... get new shoes meant for extreme walking before you go. Something nice and soft and comfy. edit: you can swim at Disney World. With reef, sharks, dolphins (special tour), tropical fish, whatever. Don't count that out. And regular swimming pools also. There are entire travel guides on just the swimming at Disney World.
  16. There are new traffic signs posted on most major highways advising motorists to call in impaired drivers. The sign says "drug abuse impaired driving call xxxxxxx" I suspect some one abused the call.
  17. I hide stuff, and there's nothing to hide... you ain't nuthin' without nothing to hide and hiding stuff.
  18. argh, some header viewers display both the spoofed and the actual. Dunno now. Looked at Yahoo mail and both showed.
  19. Lapping the valves will let you know if you actually have a reasonable seat/seal going on. Might be worth the time spent. The valve stem end wear... is the length of the valve still within spec? (And valve not stretched, lol.)
  20. Examine the header of the emails. It will show both the false and the real source.
  21. They flattened out into the saucer shape quickly.
  22. http://www.josephinesjournal.com/mushrooms.html Best guess:
  23. I had a few of those for a couple of years. Big as soccerballs sometimes. Never looked it up to see what they were.
  24. ?? The bereaved family pays the murderer?
  25. Yes, I have a habit of dropping $500-800 every time I go there... It's a rare day that I can get in and out with just a pair of gloves...
