  1. Shoot, at Ft Knox, the M60A1s would be on the road in front of the barracks, drag racing at the stop light. No escorts, they wandered around all over Ft Knox. That was 1970, of course... (Ever see two 43.6 ton tanks try to pull side by side wheelies?)
  2. Stopped down in southern Ohio somewhere, gas station dude asked if my 919 was a Norton. That was special. The standard question for my bike is "What the Hell is that?"
  3. Exactly, reality is what it is. Besides, you live to save countless others.
  4. Crap... any monkey I've seen eat a banana.... didn't peel it. Just ate the whole thing.
  5. 1. Same as a car, quick rev it in a higher gear at low speed. If it slips, it is bad. (Or badly adjusted.) 2. Yes, slowly, a little bit at a time. But modern tires are not nearly that bad. Just be careful for some miles. 3. Complicated. I think they make you put a VIN number on it. 4. Two years. 5. Try replacing or lubing the clutch cable first. 6. Enough to adjust a chain, or tighten misc bolts/screws.
  6. That's actually a better way in my opinion. It stays tied longer for me. Some one taught me that, they called it a "baby knot", for tying baby shoes. Because baby shoes get untied all the time. I used the strong side knot before. I did not know it could be done a weak side way, so that the stupid loops went up and down instead of side to side. I still learn something new everyday. edit: wait, just tried it... the two loops together can be done two ways also. Strong and weak... So there are four ways to tie your shoes...
  7. You're a smart feller to be able to see that. Also true: Most people can't swim well enough to do a rescue. Almost no one is trained to actually rescue swim. It's difficult to actually water rescue someone who wants saved. Nearly impossible to water rescue someone who doesn't want to be saved. To do so is to risk your own life. The simple fact that he didn't go in the water till people were there, well, it seems to me everyone should have just walked away. He might have just changed his mind. But it doesn't work that way, does it?
  8. I knew a few that did barely 6 to 12 months in the Army. They died in combat. I think I 'll count them. edit: Besides, in time of need, the Army is built up with 2 year draftees sent straight to combat. I think we better count all of them. edit2: Thinking... both my Grandfathers fought in WW1, probably only two years or less, one Army, one Marine. My Father is a naval aviator, F6F-5N night fighter pilot. Also probably two to four years before getting into the reserves. If anyone doesn't want to count them, I would be unhappy. And ask my Mom to kick your ass.
  9. Both of my parents are aviators, all of us are or were aerospace engineers.

Land lines are even worse. Seems like anytime a land line rings, it's some total stranger saying something anything that translates as "give me money". No.
  11. Probably like the old days, when we took one or two of a four headlight system out and put in ram air ducts. Dunno.... Not a good idea when it rains...

  13. hahaha, guy is selling a 34 $500 on Pawn Stars on history channel right now... edit: $5500 for that and a $1000. Don't know what year on the $1000. Both nearly un-circulated.
  14. Goofed and ran the battery down on my mp3 player, got the spare out, goofed and left it on, ran the battery down. That's it, that's all I got for this weekend...

  19. yeah, find the leak. While you're looking, check and tighten radiator hose connections. edit: and make sure no hoses or tubes are pinched part way shut by body work or parts. That raises the pressure a lot.

  22. Actually, one of the biggest problems with young children on the back, is that they tend to fall asleep back there. There are rigs that strap them in on your jacket. Break away type, of course. But that way they won't fall off.
