  1. You can stop a bike upright after a rear tire flat. Be quick on the front brake and stop fast on the side of the road. You can let off the brake, but it will wobble hard, even at slower speeds. I know, easier said than done. I had to do it once on a freeway. But there was a little bit of warning wobble, and I chose to stop anyway and see what it was. That turned into an attempt to stand it on it's front wheel on the berm when all the air blew out.
  2. I'm a bit perturbed by the two spelling typos on the CSCC website.... durrr.... I'm sure there are plenty more. edit: yup, found a third typo on just that one webpage.
  3. http://www.cscc.edu/workforce/motorcycle.shtml Course/Training Location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223 Columbus State Community College Center for Workforce Development is a training partner for the Ohio Deparment of Public Safety Motorocycle Safety Program. I hope this is the one you're asking about. I don't know of any other.
  4. But wait... we used to go there for concerts and get in for ten bucks or less. What the heck happened? Ha, don't answer that.
  5. If you've never been out in LA before, these photos capture the local area very well. User submitted to the LA Times. Worth wasting some time to flip through and take a look at. Sort of makes me wish I still lived out there. 7. Don't buy this, but wow. Here's the future of batteries? http://www.skyrichbattery.com/product_info.php?cPath=10&products_id=559&language=1
  8. Yeah, forget gel, it's old tech and didn't really make it as new technology, before the AGM (Absorbant Gas Mat) batteries were offered. So, two choices, buy lead-acid and replace almost every year. Cheap. Or get AGM which isn't hurt by vibration from a motorcycle. Expensive.
  9. I was going to get 30 day tags for the Jeep and transfer plates later. Ummm, no. Not standing in that line again. I'll take new plates, thank you. It really isn't that much of a cost difference. Plus the other problems. I have no intention of ever transfering plates again, for all the reasons listed by everyone. edit: Also, for most people, the cost of insuring a bike for the whole year, isn't much more than seasonal. My agent said yeah, since it's recognized that the bike doesn't get out in the off season, very little cost difference. For me, anyway, only about 20 bucks more to keep the insurance on all year. No big deal.
  10. okey dokey, if a rider doesn't think of side streets as a threat, he/she hasn't been riding long enough for decent road experience. Regardless of any other factors. edit: (and those hot chicks walking down the sidewalk. I had a friend go down looking at one. It happens.)
  11. The very first viruses were written for... Apples...
  12. I ran into Busahawty one night, she doesn't miss you... Sorry... But yeah, she's not interested in jumping in here.

  14. Seen a pair of Ariel Square Fours touring British bike shops on a weekend, looking for parts. I don't think they found anything they could use...
  15. oodle.com search says there's a black 2010 at Competition Accessories. Listed on CycleTrader. But I didn't see it there. Price is $10,995. Cheapest is black 2009 in Jacksonville FL. $4,200. Nope, nevermind. Those all look like GT1000 touring model. I don't see any Sport1000. Those were made 2006-2008. Here... this might be the Sport1000 in PA in Yellow-Orange $6,900; http://www.cycletrader.com/find/listing/2006-Ducati-Sport-Classic--98658708

  20. Fragments in a way called "spalling" (if it works). Like hitting proper armor on a tank. Here's 50cal, 308 and 30-06 on bullet resistant glass. Punches right through. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fCZvOHd5dg&feature=related And at the end of this one, large caliber handgun bullet just flattens and vaporizes when it hits. slow motion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QA1PG_JhkWM whatdeheck... there were like 10 posts before I could get mine in... geez...
  21. Ah yes, the puke ray. If it's tuned just right, it's a vomit gun...

    Found 1.85$

I remember a vehicle doing about 185 on a Franklin County freeway. Got airborne and didn't know it. Turned the steering... There wasn't a piece hardly big enough to spit on.
  23. IT'S A TRAP! I wouldn't trust any manufacturer (China) of merchandise or supplier of solder to be lead free. There are test kits for checking for lead. Also places you can take your stuff to get checked. Lead is easily absorbed through the skin when handled, and it is very slow to remove from the system. Or make your kids permanently wear gloves and/or full protective body suit.
  24. Yeah. Now that people are aware, they will avoid the area, and move on to someplace new. But there's more than one group doing this. And they pick on vans and SUVs. They went through my area, and got three or more one night. Never came back. They or somebody else is about due for another visit. And I don't think they use a hacksaw, I'd use a portable saws-all.
