  1. Good to hear. Be careful to not over exert her in activities. Especially this Summer when it's hot.

    Ride maps

Hey, that kinda uses the same google engine and setup this other website uses. DailyMotoRide http://www.ohioriders.net/showthread.php?t=73047 Wonder if we can incorporate something into our forum, and use it also. The first couple of routes I looked at, turned out to be of roads new to me. This is a useful addition to the other maps available. A different perspective. It works by uploading a GPS map, photos and a description. And the green arrow on the left side will download that map for others to use on their GPS unit.
  3. Theoretically this is green tip armor piercing. A steel core in a lead bullet. Dunno. 62gr bullets are stable in the faster barrel twists. Like 1 in 7. Although 1 in 9 is acceptable.
  4. I will say this. If it's experienced gun vs experienced knife at 10 feet. Let both draw from concealed. I'll bet on the knife. And I'd say they all didn't know how to fight with a pool cue either.

    Weather

I use that, mostly for it's amount of rain forecasted and when. The advanced mapping at the bottom of the page. I use wunderground for current conditions and when and how to dodge the rain. Using the local radar with the extra temperature readings from local stations. Plus it usually shows that it's warmer inside the city. I use the accuweather for the two week forecast. Using the month tab. Plus it has the cool high and low temperature graphs. Anything more than three days ahead will change. Anything more than 6 days ahead will change a lot. But it's something to work with.
  6. But wait, if we go back to the old rules, we'll have to disarm when we enter the city limits. I'd rather have the CCW.

    Weather

I'll start riding to work if it's 34 to 38 in the mornings and dry. Watching out for frost of course, frost is slippery at any temperature. It's easy enough to forecast rain and avoid it. Light rain is just ride in it anyway. Bad news is, cold this week, and warm with rain forecasted the week after. Dunno yet... edit: checked once again the 2 weeks forecast. Will be getting bikes out this week and ready to go. There will be a couple of days that are nice to ride, and a couple of others that will be close enough. edit2: semi psyched... I want to burn off a tank of gas by next weekend... That's 200-300 miles...
  8. The end comes when an animal can no longer control urination and defecation. Making messes all over the place. By that time appetite and activity is nearly non-existent. Some will do things like walk into a room or corner and get stuck, not able to figure out how to back up and turn around. The animal will signal it's desire to end it, by basically lying down and refusing to move. There is a dullness to the spirit, and an unwillingness to respond to the owner or other animals. Then it's time, beyond a doubt. And yes, even before that time, a healthy animal will often have become blind from cataracts, and deaf and unable to hear. The pain of old age is something all animals put up with. There is a desire to live. But at some point, we all lie down and refuse to get up. It's part of life. Celebrate the life, and not the death.
  9. oh geez... you are correct. Sort of. Unique case of unlimited supply of power and strict limit on range of travel. Maybe someday all roadways will have power transmission embedded in the roadway. A few roads in California have it as an experiment. If it's still being used.
  10. If the front wheel remains pointed in the direction the bike is traveling, it will skid sideways and not high side. I have not high sided except maybe on a dirt bike. I have slid sideways many times. It's a quick way to change direction. Ummm, why did you post this here? It will get lost in this thread.
  11. With electric motive we can get either range or power. Nobody has found a way around that yet.
  12. Zombie thread. It could only be better with zombie deer. So here ya go... http://daily.swarthmore.edu/static/uploads/by_date/2010/03/31/Two_Headed_Zombie_Deer_by_AngryUnit.jpg http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs42/i/2009/081/1/5/Zombie_Deer_Drawings_by_Nanahra.jpg

  14. Ok, I was looking on OSHP website for photos of their motorcycles. I ran into a top ten list of most dangerous motorcycle roads in Ohio. I travel 5 of them on a regular basis. One of them is every morning. Ack. Time Frame is 2002-2007. MP = Mile Post number on the highway. Here's the list: (opens pdf) Cuyahoga, Interstate 480, 69 crashes, MP11-MP15 Franklin, Interstate 270, 65 crashes, MP33-MP43 Cuyahoga, Interstate 90, 64 crashes, MP169-MP174 Lake, U.S. Highway 20, 56 crashes, Mentor Franklin, Broad Street, 50 crashes, Columbus Franklin, High Street, 49 crashes, Columbus Hamilton, Harrison Avenue, 48 crashes, Green Township Ashtabula, State Route 534, 48 crashes, MP2-MP5 Franklin, Interstate 70, 47 crashes, MP100-MP105 Franklin, Interstate 71, 44 crashes, MP110-MP115 And I was looking for my photos of the OSHP motorcycles that were at our RoC2010. Gave up and grabbed this one from the web: OSHP 2008 Harley-Davidson http://images56.fotki.com/v774/photos/4/49373/202652/rnpca4267-vi.jpg
  15. geez... all I had to do was walk across the street to get mine...

  17. This would have made much more sense if it had somehow involved a farmer's daughter.
  18. Yeah, what JRM said. Mobil 4T is getting some competition now-a-days, but it's still rated #1 or #2 for street. Your owner's manual should specify what weight oil to use in what ambient temperatures. I'll go with the "must be JASO MA2 certified". Better safe than sorry. Currently using dirt cheap Rotella T (JASO MA2) to store bikes over Winter. I'm going to run it and see how long it lasts. I don't expect it will last long at all. It's 15w40, fookin diesel engine oil. I could be wrong. I normally run good JASO part synthetics. If your bike is high compression or air cooled, I'd use a full synthetic instead. I'm also a big fan of having an oil change just before the hottest part of the Summer starts. Lessons learned over 40 years. Really, despite the ability of motor oils to run forever, I still like seasonal oil changes, 4 times a year. Maybe I'll stretch that to three times a year now. edit: The 98-03 VTR1000F Service Manual says: Honda GN4 4-stroke oil or equivalent motor oil (or better) API service classification SF or SG (obsolete: use JASO MA2) Viscosity: SAE 10W-40
  19. And now for something completely different... It's what I like for casual biking, and they lasted about 2 1/2 years of every day ride and work abuse. I'm buying the same thing again. I got them to leak once, but that was on a day I could have swam home. And yes, I was nuts for being on the freeway, at night, blinded by heavy rain. 23. I was using McAfee SiteAdvisor to check stuff for the browser, but it got all funky and acting up and messing with me. I switched to WOT (Web Of Trust) addon for firefox. Works good.
  24. Fileden is just a file hosting site. It could be anything. Google is the only intercept I see so far. It's showing as trusted with other checks. A file on the page you're viewing is hosted there, I suppose. Dunno...
