  1. yeah, a gang of geek/nerd bikers totaling almost 4300... watch your step, or you wind up owing 4299 beers...
  2. you know, I'm kinda slow some times... instead of clipping the music player on the pocket where it likes to fall off... maybe I'll try a front belt loop instead. That would put the plug wire straight and not bending... I'll just learn to hit the tiny impossible to use while wearing gloves type buttons all over again. speaking of impossible buttons, I hit recorder on the way to work last week, on the bike, and couldn't get it off... and like a dummy, I deleted the file without even listening to it...
  3. It's too nice, I don't want to see it messed up. Run it through a color copier and make a duplicate for the track...
  4. I saw that at work, it looked like mortar or artillery fire. That would hurt...
  5. The wires do break pretty easy. I buy 2 or 3 pair a year, at least. Mine break at the plug in the player, but probably because I put it on the left side, and it bends the wire backwards and breaks it. I'm trying a strain relief this time. (electrical tape).
  6. Yes we're wearing them inside the helmet. They usually stay put. They are, like many other earbuds now, passive sound dampening. Meaning they cut the noise down without electronics. I tried them onboard aircraft, and they really work well to kill the jet engine noise, and that's something amazing. So they kill the wind noise inside a helmet, unless you've got a loud leaky helmet or something. And the sound range is good, the bass decent. Get her some skull candy ink'd. Most people like them. If it was the type that sits on the ear instead of in the ear, get the Sony buds. Skull Candy has a no questions return policy. If you destroy them, they will send a 50% off on next purchase. I suspect you have to buy from the website, so it doesn't save as much as I think. But it's better than nothing. If the darn things just stop working, they will send new ones. I do hear that some people wait forever to never to get them, but it's worth a try.
  7. Same here, I grabbed a set to try them. Sometimes Target has the Ink'd on sale for 8 or 9 bucks. I was thinking it might be so. Dunno, but they can be found internet mail order for 9.99 or 10.99 (amazon). I'm usually happy to find them on sale for 12 or 13. You know these have a life time guarantee? You can get either a free pair or at least get a 50% off next purchase. Check their website. I got one pair going back RMA for breaking just way too early, but it was probably my fault.

  14. After last night... blind on the dark freeway in the pouring rain and traffic and a tiny bit of hail (it hurt), with a fogged up visor on both sides... water pouring into my boots, and past my collar and into my armpits... I'm good, I fear not the rain...
  15. I don't see how you do it so easy. I used to have to completely dismantle the bike to get one that clean...
  16. oops, more rain than I thought possible. But only wet from the knees down... oh, and I'm a nut, I hit it on the dark foggy freeway after filling up a tank of gas...
  17. bump I'm riding, I'm hungry, it should be no rain for a few hours...
  18. Dude, they make those for scooters and bigger, over in England. Wildly popular over there, for riding in any weather, mostly to get to work and back. They cover the entire front of the motorcycle and the rider. I'll try and find a link for them, but no promises...
  19. I've crossed it when on 26, it looked interesting. I just googled the terrain. It's flat turns through a river valley for the first third to half, and then inside the Wayne National Forest, it breaks into a path along the ridge lines of gentle rolling hills for the remainder. Within 10 miles of the Ohio River, there will be an increased number of houses and traffic, as usual. Very interesting. Pavement looked a bit broken up in a couple of places, and the berm was very soft in another area. Typical country road. Looks like fun. Most of the roads in the Wayne Nat Forest are great. Not a lot of fuel stops there. In some areas, not a lot of anything. edit: I wouldn't mind scouting that one, if I can squeeze the time to go...
  20. Rain storms currently on the regional radar should pass mostly to the South of Columbus, and be gone by around 5pm. What's behind that, for this evening, I don't know yet. Revised: Storm will hit Columbus squarely, but still should pass by 4pm to 6pm time frame.
  21. I chased and caught and identified a hit skip years ago. Went to court for that as witness. Plea bargain resulted since the witnesses showed up. I saw his lawyer walk around the corner and look right at us, and she went back in and entered a guilty plea. Glad you are all ok, but take some time with the family. They probably won't admit the emotions that will haunt them for a while. And yes, I think Ohio should start taking vehicles and licenses away for DUI/OVI with collision or injury. I think they already have enough laws to do that, they just aren't doing it.
  22. Back-in-the-day, we used to strip and remove all manufacturer and size and name markings from our bikes. Rattle can paint them pretty, and no one knew what they were for the most part. And we liked it that way.
  23. There are two springs. One in the switch to get it to retract and shut off the light, and one between the brake pedal and the switch to keep from pulling it too far and breaking it. Mine has a third spring between the lever and the frame stuff, that helps bring the brake lever back all the way up. If it's not doing that, the brake light might stay on. Inspect the rear brake lever and return spring, clean the switch if it doesn't retract all the way, check the springs connecting the two, and adjust or replace the switch as necessary. It's not unusual to eventually need to adjust a rear brake switch to get it to shut off. Wear on the rear brakes shoes will change the position of the rear brake lever and change the way the rear brake light switch works a little bit. Even more so with putting new brake shoes on the rear, it might not come on. Since you say the brake lever jiggles, I'd go looking for that spring that lifts it back up. The one between the lever and the rearset or frame part. It might be missing or not connected right. Make sure it's the right one, on some bikes it's easy to get the two springs mixed up.
