  1. It doesn't matter who's who out there in the LA area. It's been down hill for a long time. The end of the Cold War, that destroyed the local aerospace economy, was the death of LA. The Silicon Valley experience almost brought it back, but that's gone now too at the end of the dot com boom. It's destined to be another Rio De Janeiro, with too many slums, and a very modern high tech brand new city off to the side somewhere. Northern California proposed a separatist split from South California. I'm still wondering why they didn't do it. There are also proposals to split California into three to eight states. The latest proposal is to split the rural central and east away from the coast. It might make it onto the California ballot in 2012. I'll believe it when it happens. Splitting California into more states has been a subject out there for a hundred years.
  2. It's probably too late for most people. They already all have plans. I should have proposed this earlier in the week. Some people were trying to go last Friday, but it didn't happen either. Soon enough...
  3. The East side of Columbus used to be so bad, you couldn't go anywhere and get out of your car without one of them doing the "ask for gas money" thing. And many of them were aggressive attitude. I had one in a gas station, hops out of a car and asks for gas money. I was recently unemployed and told him so and no, in my F off voice. I came close to having to go toe to toe with that one. But some one gave him money and he left. He was later busted for cruising gas stations asking for money. Now days they are all over in the WalMart lot. Be careful of the other scam. If you walk out with a pharmacy bag visible, some one will try to distract you with a story while you're in your car, and switch the bag. Hoping to get something worth taking. Or if it's dark, they just grab it and run. What amazes me, is how many of them sound exactly like an email scam. You know, the "Excuse me Sir, I am in need of a blah blah blah..." I am stunned when I hear it, and can't even speak. I just stare at them till they walk away.
  4. I propose a Hooters Hilliard emergency bike night. One week early for good weather, same as QSnL did.
  5. Back when I was a teen, we pulled one of these out of the friend's garage and got it started, and took it for a cruise on campus while his Dad was out of town. It wasn't as much fun as you would think, nobody knew what it was, or didn't care. I bet it's still in that garage. Jaguar Limousine
  6. I suppose you consider his wife, Maria Shriver to be Republican too. Everything is not as it appears, in the land of fruits and nuts...
  7. hahaha, I just used it for something... a couple of days ago... kaching! Every place had nearly the same price, so 25% off was a winner, and the shipping was one of the cheapest I saw.
  8. I checked Lenovo netbooks at Newegg last week, when news claimed iPad was putting a dent in netbook sales. All Lenovo netbooks are sold out and out of stock. I got one last November, I love it.
  9. 8 miles = 10-15 minutes. Record is 7 minutes. On a good morning very early, 6 wheelies...
  10. ^^ what she said Really important stuff can always be emailed to yourself. That preserves a copy on some one's mail server somewhere, where you can always retrieve it later. That wouldn't be yahoo mail services, who like to cancel your account for lack of activity, and delete all your stuff. Try gmail. Around my shop, interest is building on setting up Microsoft home server to automatically back up all the computers in the house. Combined with a raid, it's all good till the house burns down.
  11. I had a COTA mini bus turn left in front of me this week, going to work. Fool looked like it was going to roll over on it's side it was leaning so hard. I've never seen one lean that hard before.
  12. copper sealing washer. Like used on banjo bolts and oil drain plugs.
  13. You can get a reckless ops for anything. Have you gotten a reckless operation ticket? Yes When? 1969 Where? Livingston Ave 35mph zone For what? Changing lanes near stop light in traffic What was the outcome? Asked judge to decide. I said the young patrolman was wrong, and I hadn't made the best decision either. Knocked 2 points off and no fine. Impact on your L's and insurance? 2 points, no change in insurance rates A distance ahead of our two bikes, was another bike riding crazy. All three got tickets. Moral of the story: Don't ride with crazy people. Guilt by association.
  14. My OEM rear BT56 is shot, and I think I'll just do two new tires. BT56 is expensive. I probably will get two something else instead. But nothing wrong with using the OEM tires.
  15. dammit, be careful. There's a significant delay in reaction when another vehicle is approaching on the wrong side of the road. The brain doesn't want to believe it.
  16. Dang, you take your eyes off the Rant&Rave section... and it runs away again. I read it all backwards, which amuses me....

  18. Thoughts? Don't load it backwards. Not at freeway speeds anyway. Just get some help when unloading it. I used to load them any which way, but was never driving at freeway speeds. I could get up to 8 little bikes in a pickup truck. Using a lift gate, of course. Curious, how the heck do you get it up the ramp backwards? I'd think that getting it down the ramp backwards would be easier.
  19. The USA should take a history lesson from European countries on immigration. Which were flooded with immigrants, legal and illegal, and the resulting tensions that were provoked. Part two: these are the states altering immigration laws, which will probably result in increased immigration into other states. Arizona Oklahoma South Carolina Idaho Utah Missouri Texas North Carolina Maryland Minnesota Colorado.
  20. I remember... and right away even. You better go check the actual facebook. It says Columbus, and going to school. I'm surprised I haven't seen her in the 28,000 students... well, no, too many students...
  21. The other worry/scare story is that some of the Rotella diesel oils have a low amount of anti-foaming agent. Or did in the past. Hard to say what has what, but I'd bet the JASO-MA qualified oils aren't going to foam up and over heat.
  22. I checked the Shell Rotella website, and two of their oils are now JASO-MA certified: Shell Rotella® T6 Full Synthetic 5W-40 Shell Rotella® T Triple Protection® 15W-40
  23. I get unmarked Purolator filters in a factory six pack, in either black or chrome, from Amazon. Dirt cheap. And oil weighs too much to save much money when mail ordering it.
  24. Speaking as an engineer; I looked into the Rotella during previous threads on oil, and saw that there are compelling reasons to use the Rotella in a motorcycle. Although I still prefer to use a JASO-MA semi-synthetic motorcycle oil. Cheap or not. Speaking as a smartass; Oh yes, I always use API CJ-4 diesel truck oil in my diesel truck motorcycle. No, wait...
  25. Four were there, we ate inside. Kreator, PrincessPratt, AlienPi from out of town to visit Iron Pony, and me. I rode bike two instead of bike one, you'all missed it...
