  1. Kids auto reject anger, fear, and panic from adults... They know truth when they hear it. How they do that, I don't know... The best time is when they ask, never miss that opportunity.
  2. In general, kids actually want to live up to their parents expectations. Tell her the truth, that you worry about her, and you want her to be careful. About who she's with, what she does, and where she goes.

    Portland

    From the album: Maps

  4. I did up a route to Portland, Maine a couple of weeks ago. There's a ferry there in Portland to Nova Scotia. Aggressive first day start of 650 miles into upstate New York. Route hits Adirondacks, Green, White, Catskill, Endless, Poconos (maybe), and Appalachian mountains. A little dip off the freeway to catch CT and RI. Back through PA valleys, to I-70, to avoid riding back the same freeways. Upstate areas are booked solid during what is a very short warm, dry weather vacation season. I'll have to look up when that is. Do you all have passports? Do any of you speak French? Canadian French? I'm putting some Frommer's and travel guides together in PDF, if you want a copy of them. For Eastern Canada, New England, and Nova Scotia. 5. Paint Dot Net is the newest freebie. Developed for free by geeks at MIT. Lots of the Photoshop features, and much better than Paint or Paintshop Pro.
  6. Not really, his films are varied and he adapts to each. His success in Edward Scissorhands and Pirates of the Caribbean, didn't stick him with with being a Frankenstein or gay Pirate forever. He moves on... If there is a trend, it's scary stuff and pirates and chocolate... he's a creepy chocolate pirate... His highest rated starring roles: Edward Scissorhands What's Eating Gilbert Grape Ed Wood Dead Man Donnie Brasco Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Sleepy Hollow Before Night Falls Chocolat Pirates of the Caribbean: (all three) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street Public Enemies The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus edit: btw, five more movies in the works... Alice in Wonderland The Rum Diary (producer/actor) Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (#4) The Lone Ranger The Tourist
  7. boo hoo, I doubt it will be above freezing that day... Whitehall has a law that says I can't go to KoC unless I'm on the bike...
  8. Sorry to hear, but the black model is pure win anyway. Who knows if the owner in Dubai actually wanted to sell his bike anyway.
  9. I think you mean as long as the buyer info is not filled in... Most states would say no to that, because they collect sales tax on the transaction. They would want the money for both transactions. If you have to pay the tax on a vehicle purchase out of state, you'll probably need proof of that when transferring title back in Ohio, or they just might ask for it to be paid again. You're only supposed to pay it once, in one state or the other.
  10. Interesting... I just looked at the Maryland MVA (Maryland Vehicle Administration) website. In Maryland, a vehicle inspection is required for all used vehicles, when transferring titles into the new owner's name. That would be something the current owner has not done, I would think. So I'm guessing that if he doesn't have a valid title in his name, it would take some time to actually get one, given that he actually has to do a vehicle inspection in Maryland. I doubt that motorcycles are exempted. MVA titling information for used vehicles
  11. Not only did the guy not get tags, he didn't get a title that belongs to him. In my opinion. I know people do this sort of stuff with titles, but it makes me nervous. I wouldn't pay for it, or leave to go home, without a good title in your name. I trade money for title at the nearest BMV/registrar. Makes me feel all better about it. If you come back to Ohio without a valid vehicle title that has your name on it (not a notarized transfer of title), you're probably out of luck unless you go back. Worse, any negotiations might even have to be with the previous owner, the one who sold it to him. That would be bad. In other words, if it's so darn easy for someone to do what he hasn't done with the title, why hasn't he done it in the first place? I'd make him transfer the title into his name, before he sold it to me. edit: ok, I realize I don't really know a lot about buying a vehicle from out of state. It might be ok to bring just a notorized title back, but not the one that he has notorized for his use, not yours. Which is why I just go to a BMV/registrar and do whatever they say needs to be done, to get it right. Disclaimer: some states don't recognize motorcycles after a certain age, and give only a bill of sale, not a title.
  12. Mr Likwid... if I owned that bike, I'd not ever find a chance to ride it. I'd be cleaning and polishing the multitudes of chrome forever...
  13. There is also a scam going around for a biker party in Grove City, after the motorcycle show on Feb 13th in Columbus. An attempt to get money. There actually will be a party somewhere in Grove City, I think... Come on, the Hell's Cupcakes will be there, don't you want to go? edit: ok, all postings on Craigslist about a Feb 13th party in Grove City are scams. The real party is Sat, February 13, 8pm – Sun, February 14, 2am; Peddler Lounge, 3977 Jackpot Rd, Grove City, OH
  14. oh gosh, golly darn... google the email address. The same bike is being sold in ... well... 222 other cities and states. Oops, search dropped to only 30 other cities and states already, heh...
  15. yeah, selling a bike under priced... it better have a phone number...
  16. I dunno, I could take cash and a driver and a shotgun over there and buy it... What are the odds of that happening...
  17. Looks low to me, for a 2007 GSXR 1000.... I wonder what's wrong with it... http://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/1578028585.html
  18. Ha, long lenses and fast shutter speeds blur easily. Hard to handle. Get a pistol grip. Better yet, make a camera "gunstock" with two grips... I no longer have one. I wish I did. I'll put that on the list of things to do.
  19. I haven't done a shoot at a track in many years. And it was all 35mm back then. I've thought about doing some digital, but it's quite different. I need more practice. Perhaps I'll get out at some places this year, for fun. What I really need to do, is get a 35mm scanner, and get some of my old work out where people can see it. Yeah, I've been told I can't take photos some places. It sux.
  20. Ehhh, my Dad is a Navy fighter pilot, and Mom flew biplanes at age 16. They both understand the attraction. There are Sheep, and there are Wolves. The Wolves get to ride. The Sheep get to watch.

    ...hehehe

My Jeep does the out-of-control throttle occasionally. Just another "problem" that doesn't exist, according to the manufacturer. But with a manual transmission, you don't go out of control very far. Nowhere actually, just push the clutch in and watch the tach hover around 1500 rpm on it's own for a few seconds. It only does it when starting. Sometimes I stop and turn it off and back on again. Once I disconnected the battery and let the computer reset. But throttle-by-wire? What were they thinking? Dang thing better be fail proof, fool proof and self correcting. And it isn't... Same goes for steering-by-wire. Geez...
  22. dam those retail prices are scary... gone are the days that I wouldn't pay more than 80 bucks for a .380
  23. nope, not for me; gots this... S10-2 - dual Atom / WiFi / 3G / LED / 1024x600 / SD card reader / webcam / 6 hour battery I did try turning it sideways to look like a book reader... pretty funny.
  24. Same here. The Netgear box has been good. Not the one linked to though. I've got a WGR-614 type.
