  1. yessss... at least grind the heads off the two pins, then you can push them out. Anything less will most likely break the tool.
  2. ha! that bike was a 1965, think about it...
  3. chain and exhaust leak are good guesses. When was the last oil change? It might only be engine noise from moving parts. I had a bike modified to do up around 14,000 rpm. It ate one crankshaft, one camshaft, threw off all the piston pin retainers, needed special valve spring set, a racing clutch set, and ruined points sets in about two weeks. Oh, and destroyed the oil quickly, real quickly. And broke a lot of chains. It wasn't worth it. edit: the bike would do 10,500 rpm stock, modified it did 14,500 rpm with fresh points, then dropped...
  4. errrr.... also assumed you have the standard Vulcan, not a Drifter or Classic
  5. cheapcycleparts.com - 79.25 kawasakipartsnation.com - 71.33 not finding any used parts on line BUT... the same part is on: BN125 Eliminator 125 - 2001-2005 BN125 Eliminator 125 - 2006-2009 EN500 Vulcan 500 LTD - 1996-2009 VN800 Vulcan 800 - 1995-2005 BUT... not finding a used one for those either... I'd just putty it up and paint it black, but that's just me...
  6. I suggest wireless battery operated, motion detection, silent alarms, inside the shed. No false alarms that way. That and motion detection webcams that can see fairly well in the dark. Or motion detection lights to work with the cameras. I use all of that and more, and move them around to suit the conditions. And the big stick (12ga).
  7. yeah, that's them new deer traction tires, they got fierce grip...
  8. It will also be the same article as what was submitted from the funeral home. Which means the same thing is posted at the funeral home website, if you know which one it is.
  9. I like it. The craigslist takeover was bugging me. Are you keeping the playlist on the user CP? How will notifications incoming be displayed? The basic search box on the header looks a little off center (too high), but it might be this computer. edit: the forced resizing of too large pics is appreciated. Mucho tired of scrolling left and right to read...
  10. The TomTom has a web page mapping application. I'm guessing it allows a transfer, but I just found it and haven't tried it yet. I'll add the link here, after I get the NetBook out and see what the bookmark is. I also found out the TomTom will puke and not see any GPS sats, if you don't update and patch the software. Weird... edit: The update added an optional application called TomTom Home to the computer. It accesses the *beta* map planning website. It does not appear to have maps for central or western USA yet. I'll read the support and try creating a simple route and adding it to the GPS unit. I'll add a couple of screen shots. I bought a cheap TomTom 130 refurb from newegg, and a cheap handlebar mount from mountguys. Impulse purchase. I like the instructions to headphones/buds, but I don't think this one does that. I have an older Chinese Asus that does that on FM radio. The Asus won't mount to the handlebars (nothing available, and I haven't been creative), it has to ride in a pocket. I can't see spending hundreds on a motorcycle unit that does both and all. edit2: I also added POI for speed camera warnings and all Honda, BMW and Yamaha motorcycle shop locations.

    Mmi?

It's an exaggeration to say it all goes obsolete, but that's the story going around in education right now. Two years and it's a goner. It's really only the methods and techniques that go obsolete. Core knowledge remains the same (hopefully), but that doesn't go far anymore. That doesn't count for anything that ends in -ology. Apparently those core knowledge elements change frequently.

    Mmi?

Here's a vision of the future. And it was already true for me. Technology changed, making most of what I learned in engineering school obsolete. There were no computers (other than mainframes) when I went through school. Computers changed everything, and I had to go back to school, and basically take the same classes again. And a few totally new ones for totally new technology. Now the kicker, technology advances at a much more rapid pace than it did before. (Thanks to... computers.) Essentially doubling knowledge every few years. More importantly, it makes everything you know and learned, obsolete in about two years. Yes, that means a person cannot even get out of a four year school before half of the knowledge has expired. So good luck with learning just one vocation and learning it just once. And it's basically 4 engineering degrees, Industrial Design, Mechanical Design, Computer Electronics, and Aviation Maintenance (good for aviation engineers to have). This doesn't include numerous certificates, one of which took almost three years to get, taking one part-time class at a time. And an incomplete Master's in Education. I didn't like it. But most jobs will pay for continued education, so it's good to take night classes forever. Yes, I'm really tired of taking classes. Most of which I'm now more qualified to teach rather than take.

    Mmi?

Even I thought about going to the MMI down in Florida. Yes, it's been there that long, as in back-in-the-day. Too late, I had already taught myself most of it, with plenty of mistakes. And was already working at a Honda shop. Buy a cheap motorcycle, completely dismantle it to see how it works, and put it back together again, multiple times, till it's right. I went to school for engineering instead, guessing that would give me the best background for motorcycles (and aviation). So now it's 3 engineering degrees and one degree in aviation. It never ends. Figure out something that gives you a better paying job, and you'll be able to buy lots of motorcycles.
  14. Statistics say... It's way more fatally dangerous in the bathroom and kitchen. You might slip and fall and hit your head or something. But I don't see anyone avoiding those places, or even taking much care to be careful. So go ahead and ride. Crank your awareness up for safety, use a ton of common sense, and watch out for those bathrooms and kitchens.
  15. Watching KNON live feed on internet and whatever on CNN. All Hilo Bay webcams are out of action from zillions of people trying to see.
  16. okay, I ran across a thread on the British Hornet forum. A guy did this turbo kit... and it lasted about 10 miles / 10 minutes and the engine blew up. Don't know why yet, but it wasn't lean, the pistons look ok in the photos. Scratch that one off the list...
  17. I had it happen in my Z-28. I just held the clutch and brake down and reached for the mat and pulled it back. The floor mat was blamed for Jeep Cherokees doing that. My Jeep does it sometimes, revs up to about 1500-2000 rpm, usually on a hot start. I can put it in neutral (manual transmission), put the parking brake on, get out, look at the floor mat, and get back in. Still revving... I found that turning the cruise control off gets rid of most of that.
  18. I went out in the Jeep, 2wd didn't get it, sliding all over the road. Stopped and engaged 4wd. Passed a car hogging both lanes on the way back. (No road visible.) They blew the horn at me for about 15 seconds. Tough. Get a Jeep. edit: seriously, don't go out tonight, it's bad. My ABS brakes did nothing. They just lock and slide.

    Wow.

yeah ok, thanks. It's back, it was missing for a while... edit: It appears that multitudes of guests googled into the "Shaun White" thread... edit deux: doah! I said "Shaun White", now they will google into this thread also...
  20. Re-crash would be more like it. Drive past a junkyard, and a Toyota lurches out and tries to whack you. You have to shoot them in the computer.
  21. one for sport, one for touring I picked up a second 919 no pics yet edit: I4 x 2 = I8 ?

    Wow.

whatdehell, it would be interesting to know what pages the majority were viewing, dang
  23. Southbound on 23, North of Marion today, I saw a car I wanted to ask the driver about their back tires. Overtaking me pretty fast, maybe 50 yards back, they tried to cross over one of those slush/snow ridges in a lane. Didn't work, they spun twice, then maybe hit gas or brakes and shot off the road backwards, and spun again. If that's the result of bad tires on the back, you'all better get some better tires on the back of front wheel drive. I could see that even an experienced driver would have spun that one, it happened too quick. The back end just came around fast. The best one could hope for was to keep it on the road when it spun, instead of getting stuck in the snow off the road. I'm going to guess that an inexperienced driver tried to cross the snow and slush at a steep angle under throttle, instead of gently, and the front end slowed down, causing the back end to break loose and whip around. Count to three, and that's how long it took to spin twice, shoot off the road, and spin again.
  24. Geez guys and gals, give it a few more years. You might not know where anything is. The more years, the more stuff you have. Eventually, you'll have only rough ideas where anything is. And sometimes, it's never seen again. Not that it's gone, it's just elusive beyond recall. Currently looking for lots of stuff, I probably put it all in the rent-a-storage. Although I haven't seen the Battery Tender for a year, I bought another one.
  25. Thanks for the Smithsonian article, JRMMiii... But the best thing read so far is this one: Therefore, all climate models are wrong. And some sort of theory like what I've been preaching, is correct. heheh... It's the Sun, the Stars, the Clouds, and the huge vast amount of water in our oceans. The source of all hot and cold weather. And us puny humans aren't going to change that. I mean seriously, pound for pound, ants outnumber humans drastically. I don't see any one blaming them for their industrious practices. Only the obvious is of concern, smoke stacks and cow farts. Something that is in our faces all the time. Oh, and I like the Columbus Zoo, let's make that one of our first rides of Spring.
