  1. This thread nominated for most likely to morph into "my 2nd/3rd won't stay in gear anymore".
  2. Yeah, I looked it up. Hardly anyone is actually switching to ethanol unless they are after the bio green label for their product. Doesn't work well for lower temperatures. Edited previous to add methanol.
  3. Methanol, yes traditional. But the manufacturing trend is switching to a ethanol/ethylene glycol/water mix. edit: ok ok, the ethanol is all bio eco earth friendly shit.
  4. Well, I sat here and figured out how to heat the entire washer fluid tank using 330ohm resistors and wrapping it with thermal barrier. Temperature in the tank would be between body temp and hot coffee. But... continuously heating the tank would eventually remove the ethanol/methanol from the fluid mix. It would evaporate off early. And it wouldn't heat up very fast when cold. So I guess an "instant heat" device for 65 bucks would work better. I would wrap the washer fluid hoses with a thermal barrier. Or move South where it's not needed... edit: and oddly, I guess using plain water isn't a good idea: (Wiki) One more thing. The factory rigs spray out a fine mist. That would help prevent thermal cracking of the cold windshield from hitting it with a shot of hot fluid.
  5. 1/4" split loom tubing. It's cheap in a 50 foot or 100 foot roll. http://www.amazon.com/JT-Products-4304F-Flex-Guard-Convoluted/dp/B0029KF58G/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1371344127&sr=8-15&keywords=split+loom+tubing http://www.amazon.com/Install-Split-Loom-Inch-Foot/dp/B005V9UU1O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1371344290&sr=8-1&keywords=split+loom+tubing
  6. Time-Lapse Video: The Magnificent Power of a Supercell http://vimeo.com/67995158 hmm, vimeo won't play embedded click on the Vimeo logo to go there
  7. Nice pic... http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/motorcycles/2014models/2014-Yamaha-FZ09.htm http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/motorcycles/2014models/2014-Yamaha-FZ09g.jpg
  8. Also a good relay connection. Can't say how many times a wiring harness doesn't match the colors in the diagram printout.
  9. I thought it was the PAIR connecter also, but no guts to say so. Good place to connect the relay trigger. (Always hot w/ key on.) LEDs pull nothing, heated clothing will max out your system. Your svrider forum says 300 watt stator output with about 115 watts of it available for extra stuff. edit: Check service manual for accurate output watts. That won't be enough for heated jacket and pants. Probably only one or the other. Might get some gloves/grips or socks with it. Add up the numbers first. Mine will output 380 watts, and that will barely run full heated gear. More likely not quite. On the other hand, most bikes don't even get up to the 300 watts, so it's decent enough. I probably wouldn't add any more than a heated vest under jacket and grips/grip covers to mine. edit: and yeah, BMWs put out 580-600 watts.
  10. Confusing. I don't even see a hot two wire connector with two black wires on the wiring diagram. http://www.factorypro.com/wire_diagrams/Suzuki,sv650,FI.jpg
  11. recuva is a good one too. IF it works ok as a shareware. They do want money eventually. Some recovery software throws a big watermark name on the recovered pics and then asks for money to remove it. Don't try to run any recovery program from your camera or phone. Install it on a computer, and read the SD card or whatever card from there. Preferably with a plug in USB card reader or similar.
  12. I forget which one we use at work. Something that came with somebody's camera or something. Most of them work pretty good. The shareware stuff sometimes won't finish up unless you pay up. This one is pretty respectable for a freebie: http://www.undelete360.com/ edit: I use a strange French software that is way too complicated, but will recover total disasters. I mean delete it, partition it, format it, and install an operating system, and it will still find your old files.
  13. Even though this article says navigate on the go and everything, way down at the bottom it says it won't work unless moving at near zero mph. Goggle glasses could cause walking accidents, let alone anything else. Why not, texting while walking does.
  14. Google Glass is not cheap...
  15. I'll second the RoadGear gauges. This one in particular. Reviewed in WebBikeWorld. oops, apparently it's replaced by this one: And I'm still using those cheap round metal gauges from AutoZone up by the front counter. Mostly because they seem to be pretty accurate and cheap enough to get lost.
  16. And you'll need batteries, SDHC memory cards, and a method of moving the data off the cards. Many photo shops while traveling (or Walgreens etc), can burn the pics to a DVD or CD for you. I hook up and dump to a netbook and 500Gb external storage. Got my own portable burner too, what the heck. I'm currently using a Canon S3 (6mp, 12x zoom). More of a point and shoot on steroids. Prices have gone way up. I paid under 300, they sell for more than twice that now.
  17. One of the websites I prefer is DP Review. They said:
  18. Just a thought, rather high price tag. How about a blue tooth tiny secondary Android screen that can be glued on the visor. That's what I'm looking for...
  19. In Russia, motorcycle drives you. http://youtu.be/wCfjX-KEWmA It's a nav and data system projected on a screen under the visor (and sound/voice). Rather cool. Development so far, with no production.
  20. Europe could cap the horsepower electronically. And still have a bit higher for other markets.
  21. Yeap. I had one of those. Tan and white. Nice dogs. Head strong though. you can go dominant on them and be cool, but once and a while they will not listen and just do their own thing. With mine, it mostly concerned the nearby presence of a rabbit.
  22. Same class as the 919. Naked standard. Same torque, 5 more horsepower. One less cylinder and one less gallon in the tank. Under 400 pounds dry would be amazing.
  23. I'll agree with that. People do try to use a heavier weight for that, but it's wrong. It would change the valving rate.
  24. 10w stock? Some people run 15w or 20w or mixes of weights. Should be able to find Maxima for 7 bucks or repsol for 10 bucks. BelRay for 12 or 14. That's on line prices, a bit more in stores. The weight of fork oil you run varies per rider weight mostly. Heavier fork oil for heavier riders. edit: Iron Pony shows Yamalube for 7 bucks/pint and Spectro for 11 bucks/liter.
  25. NGK says one available iridium p/n for ZX-10R = CR9EIA-9 (2004-2009)
