  1. "Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have declared Snowden a traitor who deserves to be prosecuted for his leaks." lol, that's probably because they all have issues and dirty secrets they don't want leaked. Carter = naval officer, engineer, farmer. Good start anyway. Camp David accords was huge for him. Took a lot of guts to walk into Three Mile Island and calm people down also.
  2. Ever wonder about all the British investing in real estate in Detroit? They bought in pretty heavy, I wonder what their investment is worth now.
  3. The facebook can be avoided, but it does point out every Taco Bell in the entire Universe. It's been excellent in a few traffic jams I've run into. One of them, it ws telling me to get off the freeway. I couldn't figure that, just looked at it. Looked up, and traffic was at a stop and I dove off the freeway exit quick. I swear one morning in Georgia, it was pointing out a drunk driver on the road. I couldn't figure out what that new icon was. edit: I still run a TomTom at the same time, since it's simple and more serious. And doesn't crash/reboot/freeze.
  4. Easy there, it hasn't been found yet.
  5. I saw it too. I thought the same thing. I think we should ride over and give them a reward. They deserve it.

    Thoughts?

There were other sources that decided 9/11 would happen. I don't think any of them knew exactly what it would be.

    4.74 Hops

3 hops out of 4.74 is two thirds of the internet, but I get the picture. A bunch.
  8. the best time is one thing, the highest prices is another. Highest street prices is around July 4th. Highest dirt bike prices are in the Fall when the leaves turn.
  9. They probably moved it. Or a previous owner moved it. Mine (2002) was under the passenger headlight. Can't reach it without pulling the front bumper or cutting a hole in just the right spot behind the headlight. It gets too hot there and the relay craps out. When the 2002 module/relay failed, the cooling fan would not turn off when the Jeep was shut off. On some 2004 models, the module was eliminated and the computer determines when and what speed the fan should run. That usually means replace the fan motor. I have heard various locations and stories on 2002, 2003, and 2004. edit: 04 has two relays - one for high and one for low fan speed - located in the back of the PDC box.
  10. I have no idea what the rider was trying to communicate. I suspect a bit of a back story on this one.
  11. Of course. Certainly doesn't bother me. I dress like that sometimes. Ok, maybe often.
  12. I really don't have an opinion. I wasn't there. But I'm going to laugh at the media for showing ten year old pictures of little Trayvon. This is what he looked like that night, at the 7-11. http://moonbattery.com/?p=11890 Disregard the website where I pulled the pic from. The pic is everywhere. Except where it should have been.
  13. Aim Surplus in Hamilton OH. Mail order from them is quick. Prvi Partizan PPU .303Brit 174grn FMJ 20rd Box Prvi Partizan PPU .303 Brit 150grn SP 20rd Box Same thing at Cabela's is 17.99-18.99, plus 3 other brands don't mail order ammo to home from Cabela's, send it to the store and pick it up. Cabela's backorders stuff too often. edit: PPU (PriviPartizan) is a Serbian NATO quality ammunition source.
  14. btw, I sat down at the restaurant counter opposite a guy that rode in on a bike. Who decided to stare at me deadpan without blinking. Dude, that's frakin' psycotic. Don't frakin' do that. More fun, was just before I left, a tall thin cute young lady came in, flashed me a smile, and took a seat in the far back. And... ordered coffee for herself and her invisible friend, and had a great time. Yup, time to go.
  15. Back already. Left at dawn. Breakfast at Pioneer in Utica. 161-62-Danville-back 62-658-16-Brownville Road (Flint Ridge)-40-Hebron-79-70-37-Lancaster-33 home. Easy lazy ride. A dozen or more buggies out. It's Saturday. A couple of horses. A OSHP on 62. And a darn train stopped where it triggered the crossing gates and nobody wanted to move. Big rigs can't. Won't fit, and not allowed. I weaseled around them all and crossed anyway. 10 minutes was long enough to wait. Engine was getting hot waiting. All in all a really nice day. By the time it got a bit hot, I was hitting it for home. Even the bugs were on the light side. Not many at all. That's one tank of gas. About 190 miles.
  16. Have seen a couple dressed wrong like that. Police stopped and talked to them. One on a bicycle was told to not come back. The other told to stop dressing up and pretending. Part of the problem is the strange attitude. Actually, the total problem.

  18. Yes. That was the Liberty Belle, and later that year it had an on-board fire and made an emergency landing in an Indiana farm field. It's gone. The fire trucks could not get out to it in the soft dirt. http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/photo/2011-06/62341960.jpg http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/j/MSNBC/Components/Photo/_new/pb-110613-libertybelle1-3p.photoblog900.jpg http://weblogs.dailypress.com/news/local/military/blog/B17.jpg
  19. Compression tester with a long flexible hose should do it. Unless you have one of the unusual requirements for a special extension. Weak or broken ring, or even the ring gaps rotated to all line up, is a good guess. Weak/broken valve guide seals might also be a guess. Those can be changed out without pulilng the head if you're careful. Plug up stuff as required, and put your hand over an opening on the valve cover. Some vehicles have positive pressure there, but most don't have anything worth noticing. If it's puffing/pushing on your hand, it's got pressure from the cylinders, where it doesn't belong. Won't always tell anything. A compression test is the right way to find what it is. If you do both wet and dry, it will know if it's rings or valve seals. Or... ask Porter. heh edit: btw, my old Jeep (260,000) blows oil into the air filter all the time. I don't care. Not a lot of oil.
  20. I remember that from the first few days after. I was wondering when that would come up in the trial. Or even if.
  21. Agree with the don't modify anything that won't convert back to stock. Not sure I'd even drill n tap for scope/mount. Dang scopes move around on sks anyway. 1. Russian sks is worth more. (Although value diluted as more show up.) 2. Milled receiver is worth more (ditto) 3. Never heard of anything other than stock 10 round magazine working very well. 4. Scruit's conversion looks really nice. 5. Have seen an sks that was really accurate at short range with iron sights. (1973 Chinese militia milled.) 6. Reloading with clips can be really really fast once you learn how to. edit: 7. Cleaning rods sometimes fly off when shooting. edit: 8. Work best if all the cosmoline grease is cleaned out of the action.

    Argh Rain

Yeah, I went out in the Jeep. It was rain all the way out, and nice all the way back. Although most of the rain was really light, and could have rode in it anyway. I should have waited an hour or two this morning and rode out anyway.

    Argh Rain

For the record. I have a worn Dunlop qualifier on the front and a Dunlop Roadsmart on the rear. One of the top three for wet traction. The point was it was slippery anyway, on oil in a light rain. Can't do anything about that, except stay off it. Which I wasn't doing. Those lane markers were shiney brand new. I guess those are more slippery than normal also.

    Argh Rain

Took off this morning to the North East. I guess I thought I'd out pace the rain, maybe catch some coming back. Not. It rained from the get-go. And just rained harder. Went back. Gosh, whoudathunk rain would be that slippery. Went sideways on a white line lane divider, like it was a giant tar snake. Powered out of a stop light, not even bothering to use first gear, shifted to second, gave it light acceleration at way less than half throttle, and the rear tire goes ape shit. I was in the middle of the lane on that slippery stuff. Yeah... maybe later...
