I understand adding something different to the stable but changing when you still owe on the current one doesn't make sense. The 14 is a perfectly good bike, Nick can ride it like a sport bike and he doesn't need to make a move. Take that money you are going to lose changing bikes, put it into a 529 for the kids and be happy with what you have. Man you need to get out and ride your bike some this year. You are all over the place with something different. The V-Rod wasn't even a choice, the B-King is fine if you didn't already have a 14, the Z1000 is a good choice but you will be disappointed with the motor comparing it to the 14. You will not be any faster on the back roads with it although you will be more comfortable. You already ride as fast as you should be on public roads. If comfort is what you're after you can accomplish that on the 14. I think you made the right choice in picking the 14 for you. Changing bikes is a waste of money by the time you figure in the loss you are going to take on the current bike. I know bikes aren't investments but you haven't given a good reason or a good option yet for a change.

I have a friend who put a 150cc motor in a 50cc Ruckus. It's a blast to ride and he now has plans to supercharge it. I can't wait to ride it then. Don't let the cost vs. a bike thing bother you; the overall cost of ownership is cheaper. I still would highly recommend she test ride a scooter with 12" wheels and 16" wheels at highway speeds if that's some of the riding she will be doing. There is a world of difference in stability. If you have any influence on her you should do a test also it has to be felt to explain well.

I won't be trying to talk you out of this one but it's more like a lateral move so why go through the expense? You can make your bike just a comfortable for less money. You do know Suzuki hasn't brought any 2010 into the U.S. yet and won't unless sales justify doing so.

Stash it for me. I have a 015 front left and two Pirelli Diablo Corsa III rears waiting so for the money it would be nice to have around if needed or if I get a hole in one.

Why don't you keep it Tony? I have two rears and a front waiting for changes this summer and I am finding the fronts aren't lasting 2 to 1 on the 1000 like they were on the 600 I might need this tire.

Scooters vs. motorcycles for economy of ownership can't be compared. Maintenance, tires, mpg and resale is way better for scooters. Not everyone needs to drive around with their hair on fire. Scooters are simple to operate, lightweight and not intimidating. Scooters can compare to cruisers in weight to hp ratio and are just as much fun if not more that cruisers. That big Yamaha T-Max can keep up with most cruisers with the exceptions of the power cruisers.

The T-Max is a huge scooter and really isn't a step through. It rocks though, the brakes are awesome and it handles like a sport bike until you start dragging hard parts. If it had 30 more HP I would have one.

Wait until one of the fast kids catches you on a back road and you can't do nothing but try to keep up. Once they realize you are trying they just wave and disappear. Your frustration will not be measurable. It will be so bad you will have to sell the new bike in a hurry at a big loss just to go out and buy one that can keep up with the waving kid. Does anyone want to volunteer to show him what this will feel like on the test ride?

You guys do want these rides to happen again right? If this becomes a drama the folks organizing it may not feel it’s worth the effort. I love to jack threads just as much as the next guy but this thread was about riding and having a good time and I would hate to see it ruined.
