Slipper clutch stock & mine is the more awesome’er 2008 Garrett already has me committed to a Gap trip next year, I would have loved to make the last one but I didn't have a bike. The whole Buell thread got me started on a new bike now, I was going to wait until next spring.

I hope so, I was riding with you on 26 when I had my only ugh-oh moment last year when we rode with Big Speazy the day it rained and Doomking went home early. Down hill left hander guard rails everywhere.

That is not me, I don't know how that rumor got started. I usually rock the gear. I did trade the blue ninja 250 in on the new Honda, it's one of the reasons I made the deal. They gave me $1,500 for the ninja and we only paid $1,300 for it. My girlfriend actually bought it but didn't take to it and was through with it. I have a healthy respect for it but am afraid it will speed me into a situation too fast. I don't ever want a 1K track bike because of the speed. I have been lucky on the 600 when I got in too hot, it was time to stop braking and make the turn hoping I had scrubbed off enough speed. This thing will certainly get me in more of those situations. Not that it happens often in fact only once this year on 26 did I have a moment where I thought that could have been bad. I would have rather had a 600 I think but I did kill the last one driving it around close to red line for hours in southern Ohio. This one should last longer if it doesn't end up putting me in a ditch.

First post has been edited to fix the camera that doesn't take pictures. I already have the bags and pack rack just need the L-brackets. http://www.ventura-bike.com/fitments.aspx?modelid=979 Lots of storage if you put two bags together. Tony, I will be ready for a ride this spring. What's up with new bike fever in the fall, Garrett and Tony? Congrats to both of you on your new bikes also.

Some of you guys might have heard already because I posted it in the Buell thread. I figured I should not mess up that thread with more of my Honda pictures. I test rode the bike last Wednesday, bought it Saturday and rode it home today. 2008 CBR1000RR dealer demo with 2,800 miles new bike warranty started Saturday. WOW is all I can say after riding it around some today. I am starting to think I might have made a mistake buying a 1K, this thing scares me. I have owned a CBR1100XX, Busa and a ZX12R so I am somewhat used to bikes that are capable of going fast but this is different fast I'm afraid it's going to get me into trouble. I really liked my old 600 it wasn't fast enough to get me into trouble and it was kind of fun to ride a slow bike fast. Now I have a fast bike and I'm afraid to ride it fast. If I could have gotten a similar deal on a 600 I would have bought one but I only paid $6,500 for this bike I don't know of too many better deals out there for a sport bike. I don't have a digital camera except for the one in my phone so no pictures. I am going to find a rack to mount my bags to it but I think the whole baby thing will be retired.

What do you like best about the shitty economy?

I might be just a mouth breather but how would anyone get ahead if we all were paid more? Kind of like we would all get ahead if we didn't pay any taxes, not gonna happen. Now if I quit paying taxes or made more money I would get ahead but if we all quit paying taxes or made more money our standard of living would remain the same. This is why some people educate themselves or learn a trade so they can better their standard of living. -
I hope they work out for you; some people don't like the bulk of having the tape stick out so far from their bodies. The scissor only holders were made to fit about a dozen different old scissors we bought to make the holder to, now we are finding they don't fit some of the newer ones. We are probably going to package them with a pair of scissors that fit.

Have you been able to ride the bike yet?

I would doubt you can still find a HD dealership that still sells Jap bikes side by side with HDs. This is one of the reasons HD dealerships are in such trouble, HD mandated that their dealers be HD dealers only in the same building, they also wanted the dealerships within some much distance from a highway. The new buildings are putting a stress on cash flow with this downturn in the economy. Sometimes big businesses are their own worst enemies.

thats a stellar rate! my heloc is actually lower than my first right now. that was unheard of before. The rate is tied into the one year T-bill plus 1.125% rounded up to the next 0.125% with a 6% cap plus or minus from 7.25% & 2% per year. If the rate ever goes over the 7.25% that I originated the loan at I will most likely pay the house off but that will depend on how much my invested money is making at that time. Listen to your accountants. -
Congrats Tony. Let the mods begin, I'm looking for a new baby carrier.

Hey, are you guys trying to drift this thread back on topic? This is now a Honda thread. Go Big Red!!!

I love my adjustable mortgage I'm at 2.125% right now. If it weren’t for the maximum 2% shift per year I would be at the minimum 1.25%. Kawasaki raised the price of their ZX10R by $1,200 this year. This was part of my decision to buy now, when things turn around prices are going to be high. -
Don't worry though there is still plenty of time left in the year to buy me a bike if you want to claim two on your taxes. It just would have to be a new one. Have you finally got your man and bike back home or his he still up here messing around with Udell?

Only the new one not the used one.

I don't know how many of you guys looking for a new bike know about the federal tax credit but this might help you make a purchase this year. http://www.amadirectlink.com/news/story.asp?id=740

Plenty of dealers have them advertised at $7,000 but I don't know what kind of fees are added. Honda East has them at $7,250 with minimal fees plus tax. Lorain county tax on that will be $490. I would guess about $7,900 OTD.

I thought it was a great deal, it's more than the Buell deals but it's not a Buell.

Sorry for the new Honda in the Buell thread but this thread started the whole process. I went to the HD dealership to look at the Buells but I guess if you walk in wearing gear because you rode there you are invisible. I wondered next door just to look around, I knew about the $7000 CBR1000RR deals but wasn't ready to bite. I thought I would wait until spring but they had a demo bike with 2,800 miles and they were asking $6,500, sounds interesting, okay what will you give me for the little ninja? (Expecting them to offer $800 to $900 which would have been little enough for me to be able to ignore a deal.) They offered me $1,400 damn more than I expected, I'll have to think about it. I went riding for a while, stopped at another dealership to see what they might have interesting, nothing. I go back and ask to take it for a test ride, no problem, try not to be gone longer than a half hour or we worry. That ride pretty much sealed the deal. OTD would have been about $5,550 so I took a few days to think about it and did some reading about the bike, good reviews; I think I'll make an offer. Blaa, blaaa, blaa bought it today. One year new bike warranty starts today, first service is done and fresh oil change to bring it home with some time this week. (It was raining.)

Jinx has me branded a traitor. Couldn't pass it up needing a bike and all.

Sorry Tony, No Buell rides this coming summer. Lake Erie HD also owns Avon Honda. After I left the HD showroom I wandered next door. Go big Red

Go riding with Tpoppa sometime, he rides a XB9 which has less HP than the 1125R, you won't be bored. On the back roads in southern Ohio I never thought I needed anything bigger than my old 600. Big HP is fun on the highway and maybe makes you not work so hard on the back roads if you don't scare yourself to death. I'm heading to Avon today to see if I can get them to up their offer for the Ninja 250 trade-in, they offered me $1,400 earlier this week.
