Sorry, I had to butt in here. Someone employed by the government spends the same and stimulates the economy the same as someone not employed by the government. You don't get "special non-economy-growing" money just because you're working for the government. That renovation you're doing while on a government salary? Stimulating local business and the local economy. Economic growth is about the velocity of money, not about who your employer is. Don't get me wrong, government jobs shouldn't be handed out to everyone like they did in Greece, but your argument doesn't hold any water. The War on Drugs does create jobs, unfortunately those jobs are more cops to staff the bullshit task forces and prison guards to run the now-private prison system. I couldn't agree more that this money is much better suited for about a million other things.

Ah yes, the "you meddling kids!" excuse. I never get tired of that. Have you stopped to consider that the millenial generation doesn't share the Republican ideals of clinging to God, Guns, and Israel? Granted, I know I'm oversimplifying, but it's time to face facts that the GOP will be running after the elderly demographic right into their graves. Sooner or later, you have to start acknowledging the younger generations and changing your party platform accordingly. You asked a legitimate question, you deserve a legitimate answer. I honestly think at this point it's a mix between exposure and money. The D/R's have their own set of rules, and media outlets, in order to get exposure themselves, play by those rules to host the debates, get access, things like that. At that point, it just becomes a matter of writing in as a condition of the debate that the debating parties have > x% of polling, otherwise they are barred from that forum. When you're in control of what "x" is, you control the debate, and therefore you control exposure. If you don't have a exposed candidate with viewpoints and policy positions that are known to the world, it becomes that much harder to fundraise and do all the things that a standard campaign does. Citizens United upped the ante on this, so you don't even get a PAC to fund you on the back-end as well. At the end of the day, after 200+ years of varying degrees of two-party-ness, the system is pretty well rigged in favor of the duopoly. At this point, it would take someone with the charisma of Clinton and JFK and the net worth of Bill Gates to self-fund a campaign that could rival the current duopoly system.

This right here. If he's got that 9K number in his head and you lowball that, between the hassle of dealing with you over such a long distance he would probably retreat back to the Duc dealership, I know I would. If he wants more than 9K and you aren't willing to do it, then I'd say wait for the next one, cause I think you'd just be spinning your wheels with him.

Yeah, if there would be one place that I would expect corruption from the top all the way down, it's Parma.

Can you elaborate? I think this is the kind of info that the OP is looking for.

Do this for every pre-installed Verizon app (except Voicemail) Go to the App screen (the series of boxes on the lower right of the home screen Press and hold the Verizon dumbfuck bloatware app. After a pause, you'll see the screen change to a zoomed out version of your Home screen, with some icons on the bottom. One of those icons will say App Info. Without releasing your finger, drag that icon on top of the App Info icon on the bottom of your screen. Once you're in there, the rest is easy. Hit Force Stop to stop the app and any processes it has (It'll give you a warning, just ignore it), then hit Disable to disable the app from bring run (again, ignore warning). Go back to app screen, what bloatware? Rinse and repeat for the Verizon installed apps. Be careful with this, as you are administratively disabling applications so they can't be run even by the system. This is OK for the Verizon stuff as it's all bullshit fluff anyway, but if you get overzealous and disable a system app you may find things acting a little weird. If you fancy a trip to IP or will be up in my neck of the woods anytime soon, I'll be happy to take a look at things for you, I'm doing the same thing to my Verizon S3.

It's called an ascot. *rolleyes* Some people are so primitive.

And I'm all for that. In fact, I can't think of a single reason why qualified immunity would apply in this case since the act was so completely unjustified so I would believe that's an option. However, as I'm sure you're aware, in civil cases you usually sue the culpable party that's got the most money in addition to the culpable party that actually fucked up. In this case, I'm in favor of adding the PD on there, since they were culpable in hiring this idiot to begin with. I'm aware of the taxpayers being on the hook, they have the ability to sort it out themselves at the ballot box by voting out anyone who was even tangentially related to this.

Again, taking emotion out of it, their ship did come in. A on-duty police officer illegally discharged a weapon at a person that was posing no threat, and was not doing anything illegal in the slightest. That right there is a slam-dunk civil lawsuit. It's entirely plausible, I'd even say likely, that this kid's got nightmares over it, he was SHOT WITH A GUN(like device, I don't expect a 10-year-old to draw a distinction between a tazer and a gun) BY A COP. He should be face felony criminal charges. I don't necessarily believe he should see jail time, however with a felony on his record we can be assured that not only will he never be a cop again, but he won't be able to get a CHL either.

Is there more to the story? Was Libya an inside job?

true dat. -
Had the "cheering" thing happen to me too. Funny that no one coughed up any money when I came around to collect, but they were so absolutely sure not 30 seconds ago that I "stole" their money. With craps, I don't have to deal with any of that shit unless it's Hollywood Casino and the croupier is actually stealing my money by pulling my winning bets.

Yeah, he doesn't do history or really learnin' of any stripe that's not coming from Alex Jones or Liddy very well. Better to let him just sit there and stew in his own impotent rage. -

Ah yes, the bastion of truth and objective journalism: Infowars. What book is good ol' Alex peddling these days? So let me get this straight: Irrespective of how the buildings fell (here's a hint though, it wasn't thermite/semtex/whatever nefarious deus ex machina you cook up as a alternative to the fact that you have a ~400,000 pound plane that's spontaneously added to the building weight while setting everything around it on fire, deforming the girders) you mean to tell me that you "guarantee" that both the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder were located after being on or near fire hot enough to melt steel, THEN taking a ride down 100 some-odd floors to ground level where it got smooshed with all the other debris? Dude, these things are resilient, but they're not built out of diamond. As for the Benghazi stuff, there was shitloads of unrest in a country with a government that is literally months old. I would have expected State to supply extra resources, especially to a sitting Ambassador in a consulate that doesn't have the protections of a full-scale embassy (most consulates don't), and a group of people took advantage of it. I'm sure that someone, somewhere is hunting them down right now, and I'm OK with that. What I'm not OK with is getting into yet another intractable campaign over this. Yes, it happened. Yes, it sucks. Yes, it probably could have been mitigated, but all that's over now. I get that most of you aren't the biggest Fartbongo fans, but with all the talk about ZOMGWTFBBQ TWEASON! do you really think that what this country needs right now is to stop focusing on our economic problems for 6 months, spend shitloads upon fuckloads of money, and have a wonderful witch-hunt trial to possibly maybe non-bindingly impeach or maybe censure Obama? -
Yes, it will blow the S3 out of the water with screen size, seeing as it's almost double the screen area. I, for one, don't want to carry around a mini-tablet everywhere I go, so I opted for the S3.

I've found long ago that if I want to play poker, I might as well drop a sack of money on the table and walk away. I'll play blackjack every now and again, but invariably I'll get the insufferable crabby SE Asian woman who snips and chirps at me if I don't bet exactly how she does, and that ruins the whole game for me. After I picked it up (and I still got a little to go, but it's mostly the rarer, more complex bets), I'm a big fan of craps. Swings are worse than BJ for sure, so you have to be pretty well capitalized to play, but you can stay there for a lot longer than I could in BJ, and you don't have the pressure from the house to bet on every turn, you can stand at the table and sit out rolls if you feel like it.

I might try again in a week or two, on as much of an off-peak hour as I can muster.

Correct. I verified this when I got my phone through Best Buy. 3 days (including the day you start the contract plan) to back out of the contract penalty free, 14 days to back out of the contract but forfeit your activation fee (40 bucks). I'd imagine the same would go for phone swaps without backing out of your contract plan.

I don't know about the fly-by-night roofers, but here in Columbus Able Roofing is just as bad, in my opinion. They were all over my neighborhood (which just so happens to be across the street from them) and did a couple of jobs. I had asked them for a quote, the guy shows up 45 minutes late (again, their HQ is literally across the street from my neighborhood), shows up in a Taurus with no ladder, and immediately tells me after getting out of his car that I need a roof replacement. I told him to get the fuck out of my driveway as I was egregiously late for work.

now I'm thoroughly confused. Her personal goal was to go to Nashville. You were going to facilitate this by selling your house and physically moving to Nashville, and in doing so realizing her goal AND your goal in starting this music-related business venture. After telling her that all this is possible, now all she wants to do is live in your house and start renovating? You sound like a cool dude, it's time to start evaluating your (singular) life direction, and make sure that direction is truly where you (singular) want to be going. I've never met either of you, so I have no idea what intangibles she brings to the table, but I gotta be honest, my crazy radar's going off a little bit here.

I got a Dell Inspiron 9300 with no battery and a fresh install of Windows 7. I'll sell for $75 bucks. Dedicated GeForce GPU, single-core 1.86Ghz proc, 4GB of RAM, 17in 1080p(1920x1080) monitor and a 80GB HD (I think). Only drawback besides the battery is it's got a noisy fan. Everything else is running well.

I think S Voice sounds like Siri the morning after a alcohol and cigarette bender, all gravelly and shit. I've been slowly tinkering. Just picked up some NFC tags from Samsung and going to go buck-wild with those.
-
May not hurt to have a copy lying around, especially if it's only 15 bucks. I wouldn't install it though until it's thoroughly vetted by first-adopters.

Well, they didn't with the Atrix. They had it on their site for quite some time that the ICS update would be 3Q 2012, then it (and some others in that same niche, "not quite as powerful as Droid" product line) were dropped, all with the ability to run ICS and having CM9 ported to them for quite some time. As far as I'm concerned, they've got about a year and 3/4 to prove that they are better than Samsung, and so far they're not off to the best of starts even after the acquisition.

Just switched from AT&T to Verizon and picked up a GS3. My hand was more-or-less forced after I put my Motorola Atrix through the wash. The ins-and-outs of the GS3 are pretty well covered in here already, the only thing I have to add is be very aware of the lifecycle support of whatever phone/ecosystem you're about to buy into. I bought into the Atrix thinking that Webtop was going to be awesome, and Motorola is going to have my back on updates. Not the case. Any updates I got for the phone came from rooting, which brought with it its own set of problems. My point is, stay with something that has a extremely wide userbase like the GS3, and not with something that was a manufacturer afterthought to fill some sort of niche that's going to get forgotten about in 6 months.
