  1. As I recall, that was the fault of FirstEnergy in Cleveland that cascaded back through the power grid and brought down swaths of NYC. Goddamn NEO's can't even keep the lights on.
  2. Correct. For the portions of the flight that are political, like going to a fundraiser or giving a speech for some guy across the country, the DNC (which, just as a reminder, is funded by voluntary campaign donations) picks up the tab. These rules were put in place by Reagan, and you wouldn't question the True Conservative, would you? And for the portion of the flight that was actual US business, would you rather the President (for purposes of this discussion, let's just assume Ron Paul) be stuck in some foreign country for days because his connection got canceled, or have to take the train back from LA to DC because the plane was too expensive? It's a question of efficiency, there's more to cost than just dollars and cents.
  3. Ah, what the hell, I'll bite on this. You do realize that any President in the last 50 years has access to a private plane, right? And with that access to said plane it's possible to give an address in Disney, maybe fuck around for a few hours with the kids and go back to work in DC the same day? I'm really sorry if you can't think outside of your box that you automatically assume that since Obama's going to Disney that he's getting a hotel on Priceline and taking the week off of work to hit the touristy spots. Hey, if this is what you have to bitch about, then this country must be doing OK after all.
  4. You've been away from the Viffer for too long, it's time to pick up a supersport. I just so happen to have one, cheep. This multistrada thing is just displaced longing to kneedrag, I can provide a machine that would do just that at a fraction of the Italian cost.
  5. http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/2012/01/18/gIQAwoVE8P_story.html Looks like the 1000, sorry, I mean 10000, no, sorry, I meant 4 million jobs won't be created. But hey, at least people will still continue to have potable drinking water without fear of contamination. That's a plus.
  6. That prompted me to look up the co-sponsors, and I was very sad to see Franken on that list. Looks like he picked the wrong side on this one. Oh, and fair use, motherfucker.
  7. Bingo. If you want legal advice, talk to a lawyer, not a bunch of people on the internets who like motorcycles. If you want a analysis from a guy on the street, then my conclusion is that the truth shall set you free. It's not libel (not slander, libel) if it's true, and the burden of proof is on them to prove that. If he is astroturfing his reviews, then he'll just continue to do that until he's buried yours and it'll be like it never happened. If he does actually serve you with papers I'd be extremely surprised. Tell him in no uncertain terms to fuck off.
  8. Bumpin'. Had some limited nibbles on CL, but nothing concrete. Edit for price too, down to $3400 all-in.
  9. Those are pretty good. I recall the prices in Australia to be a LOT more than that. Plus, if those roads are ANYTHING like Northern Czech roads, the riding there would be a heavenly experience.

    X box live ?

nerd explanation ahoy Some consumer routers have better networking "stacks", or the software that makes all the network data move around, than others. It's highly possible that the router you were using just had a shitty TCP/IP stack that was causing a shitload of dropped data that was kicking you off MW3 just before a 12 year old knifed you in the back of the head.
  11. I did mean a 05-06, edited post. The air intakes are completely different from 03-04 to 05-06, and that redesign changed the nose fairing. If you remove the ram air tubes, then it's going to be harder to get air inside of the intakes as the opening is now farther inside of the nose vs. right there below the point, getting all the air that's split down from the nose point.
  12. The surrounds on the ram air's are different too. Unless you're willing to do some creative Dremel work, the nose won't fit a 05-06 but everything else will.

    X box live ?

Start here: Are any of your PC's or network devices downloading anything big, like movies, music, games, streaming TV, stuff like that? If they are, stop the downloads and try it. If not, start eliminating other network devices like PC's, sometimes they will pull data in the background depending on how they are set up. Once you have the network devices off the network, THEN you start eliminating hardware. If the xbox is hardwired to the router, eliminate the router and connect direct to the modem. If it's wireless, hardwire to router if possible, then direct to modem if possible. Drops can very well be bandwidth related as well as hardware related. If you have a bunch of things on the network sucking up all the available bandwidth, it's very possible that you'll drop traffic destined for the xbox and it will mess with your connection.
  14. Trust me when I tell you that EVERYONE has that face. I go out of my way to be nice to the airline folks, but when I get to the TSA checkpoint I've magically plum run out of fucks to give.
  15. You have it backwards. Cell phone signals are much weaker than this.

  17. so that's what kind of party this is going to be, eh? interesting...
  18. Not going to the show, need to prepare for the afterparty...

    HDMI cable

whatever, nerd. Too bad you can't accurately figure out where your links are and which way the signal is traveling at the same time. Suck on THAT.
  20. Everything's still there.
  21. Yeah, this is happening. I would rather have the cash to get out of debt and rebuild my savings, and I haven't been riding this as much as I'd like. Here's the details: 2003 CBR 600rr 34K on the clock, mostly highway miles from the previous owner. Bridgestone BT016's front/rear. Rear has about 50% tread life on middle, 70-80% on sides. PC3 installed and working. I pulled down the "stock" tune from Dynojet's website for the version of PC3 and slipon that I have, and the numbers don't match up which leads me to believe that this might have been custom tuned at some point. 55W DDM HID's on both headlights, wired to high-beam switch. LED strip just below that (think new-model Audi headlights) that is wired to low-beam and constantly on. Galfer brake lines front/rear, DOT5.1 fluid flush when lines were installed Alth rotors front, perfect condition EBC HH pads front/rear, 3 years old. Battery Tender wired to underneath passenger seat Fast-Pack passenger seat cover, expands to hold a shitload of stuff, collapses to be almost invisible. I get a lot of comments on this, and it's been incredibly useful. Two Brothers slip on, older model with the chrome exhaust port. Not crazy loud. Fender eliminator Integrated turn signal, smoke Pazzo shorty levers, black Renthal soft grips Oil been changed with AMSOIL since I've had it Plastics are painted white, and are physically pretty beat up. No really noticeable cracks, but lots of places where I just couldn't get the screws to match up anymore. The sharpie signatures and designs more than makes up for it, to say that this is a "custom" bike is putting it mildly. Bike was dyno'd at Dyno Tune in 2010, it makes 99hp to the rear and that's with shitty weather which mucked with the dyno results. If you pull it during the summer, I'm sure it will do 105. That's it for the bike itself, here's what you would get with it: Complete set of replacement plastics, custom painted flat grey with a black stripe starting between the headlights, extending on both sides of the windscreen, along the top of the tank, and along the sides of the tail ending with the end of the tail being all black. Also, the indented part of the fairing around the air intakes are metallic-red. These are NOT clear coated, and would probably need to be before you attach them to the bike. I don't trust the paint to withstand a rock chip or normal street riding as-is. Battery Tender Front and rear stands Proton turn signals (one of the wires needs to be soldered, I bought it from someone with a bare wire sticking out of the turn signal. It's a doable job. I wanted to put them on the new fairings, but that kinda fell through.) Any other spare odds and ends (I know there are spare pegs in there) That said, I'm hoping to get $3400 out of this. I hope the plastics set can sweeten the deal since I know that's on the high end for something like this. I'm willing to entertain offers, I'm not willing to entertain trades or parting it out at this time. Have clear title in hand and all that stuff.
  22. Returned an ammo can to Vance's, no problems at all.
