  1. The amnesty thing would be a hard thing to do. Ignorance is not a viable defense from the law, and it's up to you as a CCW holder to ensure that if you want to be armed, that the state you're going into accepts the permit from your home state. That's it. Now, if you still remain ignorant, and once you are already in violation of the local state's law you have three options. One, you can continue to carry illegally until you reach a point where you can safely disarm (hotel, car, stuff like that), two, you can just continue to roll the dice and hope your conceal is good enough that you don't get caught, or three, you can go to the nearest cop and, in doing so, immediately waive your 5th amendment right to self-incrimination by exposing your illegally carried firearm to the one guy who could (and probably will) immediately arrest you on the spot. In the absence of national reciprocity (and we need that for a great many other things), it's up to the person to exercise a little personal responsibility and do 5 minutes worth of research before they go traveling.
  2. A 3800 vote difference in a race with the top two separated by 8 votes is pretty significant. Not "ZOMGRONPAUL got his ass kicked!" significant, but it sends a bit of a message. As for the last bit, when you're right, you're right. Santorum just shamelessly pandered to the evangelicals who lapped it all up, and Romney did his usual robotic thing.
  3. I thought that was just the default knee-jerk reaction for any change in the White House?
  4. Rod, you haven't been listening. My entire premise is this: Not allowing gay marriage on basis of religion is totally allowed for the religion you believe in. It's your belief system, you can make it whatever you want. Restricting civil freedoms and discriminating based on sexual orientation, however, is not, and what I thought was anathema to the whole "conservative" view of smaller government, more individual freedoms. That's it, that's my entire argument. Also, I would like to understand, in the context of "earthly" law, how this statement isn't completely contradictory: I'm not trying to prohibit them from their pursuit of happiness. I'm just not endorsing a sin and I'm not in favor of granting them any special rights or privileges. I want the same rules, laws, rights, etc. for all people. I could ask the same thing, why do you want to force your religious beliefs on the rest of us? Slippery slope argument, eh? It just so happens I was at a same-sex marriage in a church in Columbus a month ago. There are churches out there that will do it, no strongarm tactics needed. As for the second part, that's where the individual freedoms come back into play. Apparently one of the women in said marriage was pretty devoutly Christian. If she's made peace with her situation and her God, who are you to say that she can't exercise that freedom to get married at a church that performs the ceremonies? Sure, that freedom goes both ways and some churches won't perform the ceremony, but that's their choice as a private, religious-based enterprise (which has certain protections being religion-based)
  5. But gay people aren't asking for forgiveness. You stated that "It is not the sin, it is not the person, it is the acceptance or endorsement of the continuation of the sin." Since these people are clearly not repenting for their sin, what's a Christian to do? It sounds to me that instead of using the clearly defined punishments set out in the Bible, Christian society is opting to foist their belief structure on the rest of us by codifying Christian morality in laws, and in so doing creating those "special classes" that according to you are wrong.
  6. Gingrich is a 100% complete sociopath.
  7. He's still not getting the nomination.
  8. Yes. Ford not only figured out that they need to start putting out quality cars that people want to buy (Fiesta, Fusion), but they figured it out so long ago that they didn't need the bailout funds. Besides GM's complete idiocy in their vehicle lineup, they doubled down on the stupid by blowing millions on a marketing campaign saying they paid their bailout when they used additional government funds to pay back the original bailout. I had a 2011 Cobalt with 33K as a rental for New Years, I couldn't get 30 miles before it started developing multiple LOUD rattles in the dash. Build quality is complete shit.
  9. Point Hutch in the general direction of your house and he'll shotput it over there. It would help to get some old mattresses to break the fall once it gets there.
  10. This last statement is contradictory. Your belief system commands that gay people are "sinful", and therefore morally unacceptable to you. Fair enough. When you're talking about codifying, however, is where you start to lose me. Either all people are treated as equals or they aren't. It's really that simple. You can't say that you support a law that expressly forbids same-sex marriages (and in doing so, by default creates a "special class" of people), then turn around and say something like "everyone should be treated as equals". That is the very definition of cognitive dissonance, and something that I've heard time and again from people carrying the "social conservative" flag. Since you brought up sin, I'd like to dive deeper into this as well. Again, you believe that homosexuality is a sin. Leviticus 20:13 clearly outlines the punishment for gay sex: "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." You are clearly both authorized and commanded to kill the sinning couple. Let's turn to the Bible-allowed man/woman sex, shall we? How about the stereotypical preacher's daughter? "And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.--Leviticus 21:9" How about rape? Deuteronomy 22:28-29: "If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days." So a sack of money later and she's yours? I can go on and on. How is it possible to pick and choose what is and isn't a sin from the book that you hold to be the cornerstone of your beliefs and morality?
  11. Mitten's got no chance in Iowa. It's not about what the message is anymore, it's about who surges last, especially with low-information voters. So far Santorum and Paul have the momentum, which doesn't surprise me in the least. Santorum's a fundie (and there are a lot of his kind out there), and Paul consistently throws populist stuff out there. Romney's going to get the nom simply because he has a mountain of financial backing. Even if RON PAUL goes on national television and pulls a Oral Roberts saying that God would call him him home if he doesn't raise millions of dollars in a week, Rove and his SuperPACs would bury him in negative ads and sheer force of their finances. Welcome to post-Citizens United, kids.

  13. Needs more tacticool accessories, like 3 different types of grips, a ACOG sight on top of of a 10x scope on top of a laser, and a stock that collapses to the size of a Micro Machines car. You know, for zombies, lol.
  14. I heard it from an email chain. It's totally legit, unlike that Soros-funded libtard Snopes.com.
  15. 2008 Scion XB. Fit right in, I was born and raised there. As I recall, about 3 months. Night. Yep. If they were looking for something matching my description, the kid didn't bring it up. The kid said he had me doing 51 in a 45, but he'd "do me a favor" and write me for the expired tags. No warning whatsoever. This from someone who literally peeled out and did a U-turn right behind me to pick me up. Cop was no older than 22, and I could tell he was still a little high from pulling off the U-ey from Center Ridge Rd. You wanted an example of bored small-town cops, North Ridgeville is it. Feel free to ask any of the NEO OR peeps.
  16. That just hurts my head. Why the fuck would anyone buy a shotgun with 800 MSRP for 3 grand?
  17. Dude, if you really want to be OMGLOLANONYMOUS!, you're going to use tor and put yourself behind 7 boxxies.
  18. Last time I got pulled over by bored cops in North Ridgeville it was for expired tags. The cruiser did a u-turn in the middle of a 3-lane, 45MPH street almost immediately after he passed me. That should give you some idea.
  19. You lost me about 15 seconds in when the guy says that an officer shooting a civilian is considered a homicide, forgetting all about the expanded view of "qualified" immunity officers enjoy on the job, much less the symbiotic relationship between prosecutors and police that make any prosecution of that crime almost a once-in-a-lifetime chance. But that's cool, that's what the Tasers are for now.
  20. ding! If you do end up going with a ceramic resistor, make sure that puppy isn't touching anything fragile like other wires. They will put out some heat, especially if you forget to turn your turn-signals off like I do sometimes.
  21. the man's got a point. I rented a Metropolitan in Key West 2 years ago and that was hella fun. Granted, I didn't have my endorsement at that time to get anything bigger to ride around the island, but don't discount the little putters if that's the only thing you have available to you.
  22. I remember seeing it somewheres, I think it was linked here for a while. I'm somewhat curious to know if he's still riding that thing around or if he fixed/scrapped the frame.
  23. shhhhhh! don't tell me how it ends, I want to watch the whole train wreck!
  24. That being said, I have a few follow-ups of my own. First, I know you and I have had our differences in the past, Rod. Thanks for answering these, seriously. What systems of morality and ethics (I'll lump that in with honesty) are you suggesting be promoted. There are quite a few, I was wondering which you would prefer to be promoted to the country as a whole. Seeing as corporations are "people", what would you consider to be a fair corporate tax, would that be higher or lower than the taxes levied on a middle-class worker and why? Can you dive further into this? What would you consider to be a "strong" military, and what purpose would they serve? Also, what does "consistent guidelines on infrastructure" mean?
