  1. This isn't some fraternity hazing bullshit with pledges or some rite of initiation, either you're a sociable person that fits in with this community or you're not. It's perfectly fine if you're not, sometimes people don't get along. It's human nature, and it happens. You (Nachos BellGrande ERN) being a douche about it doesn't help things, and I think it's more of a signal that maybe you just don't fit in here.
  2. All I need is a front-end site developed in the style of your choosing, with some design specifications from me. Design can be a proof-of-concept, so it doesn't need to be very deep or even fully functional, I just need something quick and dirty but I have no web chops of my own. I'd much rather this work go to someone on OR, so here I am. My only qualification is I have a hard and fast deadline of 3/28 to have all code and images done by. We can talk about $ when we agree to the project, I do intend to pay you for your time. As I have no web dev experience, I have no frame of reference to say how long this is going to take, but I can't imagine it's anything that can't be done in your spare time. PM for details, but I absolutely need to know that you can commit to this deadline if you're going to do this.
  3. Just for a bit of closure, I ended up going the soundbar route. I should have done a little more research, as I thought all soundbars had wireless subwoofers, but apparently the one I went with (Sony HT-C150) does not. Either way, I'm happy with the performance thus far, it did need a little tweaking out of the box (bass level was pretty anemic), but after that so far so good. I'll have to do the mother of all sound system tests, Top Gun, later on this week when I have some more time.
  4. I get the directional aspect of it, but given the geometry of the room as it relates to positions where I can wall-mount speakers (I also have to dance around hallway openings, a patio door, and the aforementioned laundry closet), the position of the TV, and seating, mounting speakers becomes a pretty substantial chore, and I thought that even though if it was one-directional, that a proper soundbar would be able to push out enough sound to make it worth it.
  5. Grew up in Ridgeville, and my parents are still there. You ain't tellin' me nothin I didn't already know.
  6. Go to North Ridgeville and find out.
  7. Wheelies? In Ridgeville? You won't get above 30MPH before they have half the NRPD on you for speeding, reckless op, failure to control, being a dick, and any other minor revenue generating misdemeanor they can throw at you. Better to try that in Elyria, they just don't give a shit.
  8. No on the attic, ceiling is out of bounds unless I take on some serious drywall work. I can get underneath the subfloor, although it's the crawliest of crawl spaces to get there. With the odd geometry of the room having the TV in the corner, it doesn't lend itself well to have speakers spread apart. I'm not necessarily against one-directional sound, I currently only have my center, left, and right + sub set up now and it's not terrible, but with the size of the speakers it's not a sustainable solution.
  9. if I do end up springing for a full speaker set, i'm not going to have enough for you to do maintenance on the HVAC this year, assuming you're still doing it. So quiet, you.
  10. Can you elaborate on the one-directional bit?
  11. The term that you're looking for is called "qualified immunity". If you can prove that there was gross (and I mean GROSS) negligence in obtaining that warrant, like in the Atlanta example above that the cops told each other to memorize a story that they all witnessed a deal going down on the property of the victim, that's gross negligence. It's a pretty high bar to prove in court, made even higher with the influence of the police unions and the "blue wall". Basically, the creep of qualified immunity coupled with the increasing militarization of the police and the "civilian vs. officer" mentality is exactly what's wrong with American law enforcement. OP, to answer your question, you call up the Bar Association and you ask for a referral. You most certainly do NOT pluck a random number out of the phone book.
  12. Here's what I got: I have a 60in TV that's wall-mounted in a corner, and currently have a receiver that's pretty dated (6.5/7years old, can be re-purposed elsewhere in the house if need be) and speakers that are kinda shitty and way too big for the new layout of my living room. I have a split-level, so my living room is open to the kitchen but slightly below it, and I also have a closet with washer/dryer in the living room as well, so there's sometimes competing sounds. There is no way in hell I can set up anything remotely close to a standard center soundstage, and the only 2 continuous walls are the one that the TV is mounted on and the one behind the couch. Anyway, I've been hearing decent things about the soundbars, and am wondering if anyone has used them in place of a traditional audio setup. It certainly would be cheaper, as I'd be shelling out about 300 bucks in decent speakers on top of 300 bucks for a decent receiver vs. $250 for a good Amazon rated soundbar (Sony CT150) Running speaker wire isn't a terrible deal for me.
  13. I'm going with this too. No sense in spending the money on a third bike (you're probably going to upgrade anyway ). I think with enough respect she can navigate the fizzer just fine, while you can play with something that's got a little more oomph.
  14. He's a stunter, they only wear helmets to keep the rain off their heads, and the occasional Icon Field Armor vest with t-shirt as a status symbol. I'm giving zero fucks for this guy right about now. He thought he was invincible, as most younger stuntaz do, and got bit and bit hard. Unfortunately for him, he didn't hedge against this peril that he put himself in by getting some sort of insurance that would cover this.
  15. You should watch FX's The Americans. It's a pretty badass show, and right up your alley. You're 3 episodes in from the pilot, I'd highly recommend starting at the beginning.
  16. All my dog does is lay on the couch, not bring back old coinage. That's a 5-kopek coin, similar to the American nickel (1 kopek = 1/100 ruble) No clue on it's valuation, but a good find.
  17. Which is exactly what I said. Insurance policies are keyed to the car, not the driver. I never had a problem with clarity. Glad your wife could get things clarified for you. Thanks for the neg rep by the way, I'm saving it for when I actually give a shit.
  18. If I were you, I'd ask your wife to explain this slowly and completely for you so you can understand, instead of spouting a bunch of jibberish. If you have a car, you're required in Ohio to have insurance for that car. If you're driving someone else's car, you're required by Ohio law to ensure that you have adequate insurance coverage for that car. As for the "insurance following the car" thing goes, I'm reasonably certain that's how it works, but I'd leave the details of that for someone with more knowledge in that subject. Bottom line, if you want to drive a car in Ohio, you are legally required to have insurance that covers your damages while you're in control of that vehicle. Not a hard concept.
  19. It's been corroberated from the CNN interview and police radio feeds from the moment of the incident. I understand where you're coming from, that's not happening this time around. The cops legitimately wanted to kill him dead right then and there, without any shred of possibility of taking him alive.
  20. That might be, but you'll still be left with a busted up car. You're asking for bonafide legal advice, whether or not to pursue civil action against the idiot yourself or to take the out that your insurance gives you, pay them their $500 (you can call it a retainer if you'd like), and let them do their thing. In order to properly make this decision, I would need 2 pieces of information that you probably won't get from a interwebs forum: 1) If I were to pursue legal action on my own, what would lawyer fees/retainer run me, and 2) if I were to pay my insurance to do it, what ramifications would that have on my future rates. Whatever is the lesser of the two, I would pursue.
  21. You're also adorable. Nice try trying to work Benghazi into this. Keep fuckin' that chicken. I apologize if I can't keep my LEO factions right, there are so many to keep straight. I'll amend my earlier statement to read that law enforcement of any stripe is not and should never be judge, jury, and executioner. They are sworn to uphold and enforce the LAW, which does not involve intentionally burning people, nor does it involve firing on innocent civilians.
  22. I know it's a little (a lot) of naivete, but maybe with all the coverage on it this time will be different. It certainly is a stretch, but I still hold out a tiny shred of hope. It certainly doesn't help that major media outlets are starting to mothball their investigative journalism teams, I hope something like Vanity Fair or Rolling Stone picks up the slack from this and cracks this bitch open.
  23. Ah, I was waiting for this, the inevitable dick-measuring of the armed services themselves. It's not enough that you served (which completely invalidates earlier points, btw.), it only matters if you've served in a unit or capacity that I've deemed to be patriot-worthy. Please, let the hand-wringing and semantics argument continue. I think there is still a little bit of hair left that you can split.
  24. And that is why Dorner's plan worked so well. If there is any sanity in this world at all, the LAPD will have to account for why they assumed the role of judge, jury, and executioner.
