  1. I mean that the premise of this argument: is false on its face and a massive hyperbole. No one in the Congress has, at any time in this recent debate, introduced legislation that would remove lawfully purchased guns from homes. Furthermore, handguns are still allowed under even the Feinstein circulated version of the AWB, so "future victims" as you put it continue to have a legal avenue to obtain and carry personal defense firearms. Magazine limits and "scary assault-y features" aside, if you want a gun for home defense, personal defense, or just something to snuggle up to at night while watching Red Dawn, there are still plenty of quick, easy, and legal avenues to obtain one. That means that I am a little disappointed that you would resort to such hyperbole in order to make your argument. I always knew, that I could at least have a elevated level of civil discourse with you.
  2. That premise is false on it's face and you know it. I hoped for better from you.
  3. All that, and not a single mention of mental health evaluation and/or proper treatment. Interesting that when all this kicked off you were all "guns aren't the problem, mental health is!" (which is a very valid argument, and IMO should be addressed) and now you've settled to the comparatively easy position of "just let everybody carry!", not even attempting to fight the harder, more important, and more applicable issue of mental health.
  4. taxact.com. Conversational Q&A, 18 bucks to file both Federal and State. I've been using these guys for the last 8 years. I don't see any advantage to using H&R Block, as my understanding is they just hire people, give them a cursory understanding on how to fill out a 1040 (everyone likes to make jokes but it isn't that hard, really), kick them in the ass to upsell you on shit you don't need or ways to skim your tax refund, and release them to unsuspecting rubes.
  5. Go with a Nexus 7. Not having to deal with manufacturer installed stuff on top of Android is a good thing, plus you're basically guaranteed to get the latest Android updates (at least until your device can't handle them anymore)
  6. I mean the plug on the wall (which should be a keystone jack plugged into a modular wall plate) and more importantly, the distribution area where all those runs congregate. If you do it right, there should be probably upwards of 12+ runs in that spot, so the best way to do it is to get a low-profile mount and punch them all down to a patch panel, then run your cables from there to the network device of your choosing. Power/Coax should also be run here as well, as close to the cable company entrance to the house as you can get. Closets work well for these central termination points (unless you're like me and want to see the blinky lights), but with a wall mount for the patch panel and a sturdy shelf for the networking gear you can put it pretty much anywhere. Cost of gear for my cousin was roughly $100 bucks, that included the mount, 12port patch panel, 2 8port dumb gig switches, and some cable management stuff. He already had ends, for those I would recommend Panduit Mini-Com's all day long.
  7. When you're ready to do it, hit me up. I just ordered a bunch of stuff for my cousin in NYC who's renovating his house, he also ran CAT5 but needed a place to terminate it that didn't look hokey. I'll get you set up, and for a sixxer of Sam Adams I'll bring my tools and terminate everything. For a house it shouldn't take long at all, there aren't that many terminations.
  8. Don't confuse "being scared" with "being a reactive idiot". Civil suits don't carry the same burden of proof, and if he wanted to go after you after you "beat him pretty damn bad", then there's a good possibility that he'll win. Medical bills aren't cheap, and if you're the guy that caused them in the first place, then I wouldn't see a problem with going through the court channels to make sure that you pay up. How's about you handle the situation like an adult and have a conversation with him about where your money is? If that doesn't work, then you start the legal action. The OP is lamenting the fact that he doesn't have time to interview, it seems to me like if he's not being paid anyway (and communication to that point between him and his boss are breaking down anyway), then the only option left is legal remedies and that takes time to process. In the meantime, take a day or two and get some interviews in.
  9. So you don't want him to fuck with your family's well-being, yet you have no problem opening yourself up to criminal prosecution and civil suits that would far outweigh the amount you'd be owed plus any possible damages? How does having a felony on your record factor into your "family welfare" calculus?
  10. I don't know dick about building houses, but I can tell you that if you're looking to do a new construction, run multiple CAT5 (CAT6 if you're feeling frisky) to at least every room in the house, and at least 2 runs per panel. Wireless is a wonderful thing, but RF can get pretty spotty in a house sometimes. Wired networking is easy-peasy.
  11. I want to hear the whole story before I fire up the outrage-o-meter, like when the last gun company went all OMGWTFBBQ over BOA's holding of transactions due to a massive spike in sales. I did have a healthy LOL at the FB guy who mentioned something about a bitcoin CC.
  12. Well, I guess that will just put the collective minds of the parents who lost kids there at rest. Thank 7lb, 8oz baby Jesus that a AR wasn't actually used.
  13. infowars = made up derp to stir up stupid people so Alex Jones can make money on link traffic.
  14. I've got a Trane heat pump, and swapping my thermostat out was the first and easiest thing I've changed on my house. If I, a librul socialist moron with shit for brains can do this, you should be just fine. As was said, just label or take a bunch of pictures of all the wires as they currently are.
  15. It's nice to see that the rest of the world can experience a little jbot.
  16. yeah, um, that's kinda Gump's thing.
  17. I'm sorry, I didn't know I had to prove both my arguments and yours. They're your half-assed arguments, go prove them yourself.
  18. I know you're just trolling but we do mandate training to operate a car on public roads. It's called the driving test.
  19. As accurate as that statement is, I think you'd be much more likely to be on the receiving end of a MWAG call in Ohio than you would be in Utah. But I've never been to Utah, so what do I know.
  20. Should move to Utah, they're cool with open-carrying AR's around, I'd just figured it was a 2nd Amendment lover's playground.
  21. I was waiting for someone to trot this out. Difference here being that cars aren't designed to shoot pointy metal things out of a tube at high speed.
