  1. There it is. I'll buy small items, but I'll never use eBay to sell anything ever again, not with the relatively easy to use and much faster craigslist. I don't have to worry about someone sniping the auction, don't have to be concerned with someone retracting a bid, just "if you want it, here it is, and this is how much I want for it".
  2. Now you know what it felt like to sit through generic issue ad after generic issue ad during the election, against Obama, or Brown, or whatever other Democrat Crossroads GPS or AFP thought was "vulnerable". Spoiler alert, Crossroads GPS didn't get a single one of their candidates elected. These ads don't work.
  3. So you're OK with a city ordinance that compels you to do something, even though the language of the ordinance has loopholes you can fit small planets through, thereby making it completely irrelevant? How do you enforce something like this? Or was this just a bunch of people wasting time in passing completely worthless and probably unconstitutional legislation? The stated rationale was to "put a security sign on the front of the village". This was because they don't have enough people to have an incorporated police force. Instead of getting a incorporated police force, or at least spending a little coin and equipping some competent and properly vetted volunteers, they go the easy/free route and just mandate that everyone carry a gun. Liability is off the city, they don't have to spend any money, and think they got something done.
  4. Dude, you ain't kidding. Where the fuck you been, bro?
  5. IMO, it's too early in the Fiat era of Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep ownership to firmly declare that the quality/feature issues that plagued these brands are over. At least they got out from under the thumb of Cerberus, whom I'm sure would have been content to run them into the ground and liquidate the assets. Still sucks that they took the bailout and are still 1.3 billion dollars in the hole with no intention of paying that back.
  6. You're phoning it in. Try harder next time.
  7. You clearly don't work in the IT field. Bugs like this are entirely and completely preventable with proper QA and usability testing. Furthermore, in this era of modularity, I should be able to download new firmware to flash my device without having to box the thing up and ship it out on my dime for a simple software upgrade. The disconnect with "Identify issue, notify customers, provide solution" and what's happening here is that even though the issue was identified, the customers were never informed, and the solution is so onerous as to not be a solution at all. That's not the way you run a business.
  8. When you wipe out because your tires are down to the cord and you have a concussion because your old helmet wasn't up to the task, and road rash on your hands from the slide, then I guess you'll know which one you should have bought. I seriously can't believe this is even a question.
  9. It's a feature, "fully equipped on-site laboratory"
  10. I have the same exact floor plan, only flipped (and the original owners never opted for the master full bath option, assholes). It's a good house, easy to heat, cheap to maintain. Hope it goes quickly, I've been hearing some encouraging things on NPR about the nationwide housing market.
  11. Yes, you're very hipster, hating gopro before it was fashionable.
  12. First edition? I thought the RRoD/overheating issue extended out a few hardware versions until they figured out the proper heatsink to put on the chips. I could be wrong, I decided when all that stuff went down that I wasn't going to buy one for that reason, that I just couldn't trust the hardware.
  13. Agreed. But shipping a known-broken firmware with that kind of glaring issue, that's just insane. Does anybody do proper usability testing anymore?
  14. I'm putting in a firewall rule to deny your IP's. Tell the Chief for me that it's nice to find someone who pays in cash.
  15. Between this, Mojoe's issues with the Hero3 battery, and the improper DMCA takedown (you mean their legal department doesn't know the difference between "trademark" and "copyright"?) they're doing a very good job of torpedoing any goodwill they had.
  16. Get a staple gun, a tablet, and a beer helmet. Watch the howto video on the tablet while you stretch and staple the shit out of the seat with the gun. This is going to take two hands, hence the beer helmet.
  17. My best friend got out of the Marines in 2002, I believe his MOS was signals intelligence. He managed to transition that into a nice cozy career in telecom working for a variety of cellular carriers, you might want to look into that for your Satellite experience. Good luck to you man. I can tell you from a IT perspective hiring has picked up a little around Cbus, if you need some contacts for IT recruiters around the area I'd be happy to help.
  18. holy 3 year old thread batman
  19. Dude, it's retail. You're seen as a easily-replaceable cog, even more so in the last few years with the higher unemployment and larger labor pool. I wouldn't expect a whole lot of upward mobility in that position, especially if the powers-that-be there view you as someone who will jump ship again at another "opportunity". I'd follow up on the Menards thing, though.
  20. true dat. I sometimes think about going back to my old gig armed with all the info I learned while I was away, and all the ways I can fix problems that I either didn't know I had, or had no idea how to solve. Then I remember how much of a colossal idiot and terrible manager the VP was, and I'm content right where I am again.
  21. These right here. Pay cuts suck man, but your situation could be a lot worse.
  22. My "issue" with MC clubs is all the bullshit high-school politics and manufactured drama that seems to come up with them. I'm not going to name names, but I know that by virtue of having the MC patch on your vest (or the rockers, I can't remember and honestly don't care), there's significant amounts of ring-kissing that needs to be done, and having to placate more-established groups to make sure they don't kick your ass. I don't claim to know all the social constructs of all the MC clubs out there, but the ones that I do know of I can't imagine why anyone would want to willingly subject themselves to that kind of environment.
  23. Yeah, what I want might be a little more complex that that. On top of that, every time I've tried to dabble in site design it's ended badly, and I'm really not inclined to learn a whole new ecosystem right now.
