Performance wise? According to the mag reviews they still dominate ( trade offs against the ZX-10) - if you believe them. However I was talking in regads to anyone considering a liter bike and not partial to an R1. If you want an R1 what the other bikes sell for won't matter.

I agree. I see used bikes listed for 2 grand or more over what new ones sell for on E-bay at times. The owners aren't trying to screw anyone - just they paid in excess of 12 grand and are trying to get some of their money back .. It's next to impossible to sell a used bike in the same year it was introduced - especially late in the year when dealers are heavy discounting, offering warranties and can pull financing. I doubt he'll make the sale without some really heavy discounting. Especially in light of the prices of new CBR1000RR's being in the low 7's.

No not really. Guys that turbo Civics usually do not set their sights on a Corvette right off. Generally they simply want to smoke every other civic or car in its class. Not a good comparison. There are far more similarities between a liter bike and its smaller brother than between a Corvette and Honda Civic.

Why would you want to invest $$$ to make a street 600RR go faster when for far less you could probably trade up to a 1000RR? Insurance? I understand why for a V4 since there are no 1000 V4's ... yet
