  1. +1 on the flex plate. Take the inspection cover off the tranny and look really carefully at the flex plate for cracks. I went through something very similar for over 6 months trying to chase down a noise on my truck and it wasn't until the flex plate got really bad that I was finally able to isolate the issue. I swore the bottom end of my motor was coming apart. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/FCB34098-E837-471B-BC26-32B8E08840CB_zpscbqg80wq.jpg
  2. Welcome - great stable of cars you have there!
  3. My wife refuses to buy me car parts, detailing supplies or basically anything fun for Christmas. She knocked it out of the park this year and booked us a trip to Nurburgring , SPA and Stuttgart to visit the Porsche museum. Been practicing the 'Ring on iracing all day and researching rental options for lapping when we get there.
  4. What's this thing weigh with AWD? Isn't this the one with the stupid commercial right now where it's making V8 noises running around in the snow so that Russia can hear it?
  5. We've actually been thinking of replacing our E55 with one of the newer TT V8 cars. Would love to hear your impressions after you get a little more seat time in the car...and tune it :-)
  6. hrummm....I'm not necessarily a Hamilton Fanboy though I do really enjoy watching him race. Personally I think he's the best and most ballsy talent the sport has had since Juan Pablo Montoya pissed everyone off. Just so happens he's in the best car so it makes things look easy most of the time. I'm excited to see the new cars and see if the Mercedes struggle...because I think he'll really show how good he is then. Driver of the year for me goes to Kimi. He finally got comfortable in that car and had some great races at the end of the year. I'd really like to see both Ferrari's fight for race win's on pace not alternative pit strategy.
  7. Danny Kvyat would be an interesting person to see in that seat as well, he has to be fairly disgruntled and ready to move after being demoted mid season. I'm not sure he can get out of his contract either.
  8. only way he comes back at that age is just driving sports cars for the heck of it. Webber tried that for a few years and got bored of that quickly and now has gone into full retirement acting as just a consultant now for Porsche.
  9. Kinda shocking all around. He said he's climbed his mountain and is going out on top. Not something you commonly see in the racing community. Most of those guys have the drive to keep on racing long past their prime as long as teams will continue to have them.
  10. I don't have facebook...so I guess I can't join.
  11. I hope it works it's only been used a few times. I'll hold it for you, I should be available to meet up any evening other than tonight for exchange. shoot me a text.
  12. Great for Auto-x and or track days to help keep yourself better anchored in factory 3 point belts. http://www.cg-lock.com/index.html Mine is an older version but literally used a handful of times before I got rid of the car I was using it in. http://www.cg-lock.com/images/bl/beltpull.jpg $20
  13. I haven't bought anything on Black Friday in years. Caved and bought a new tool box as I'm trying to change up the garage some to make it more user friendly. Now I need more garage accessories!!!!
  14. E36. Stop choosing front drive stuff.
  15. Yup, Once you get the oxidation out of the way the rest is a breeze and the DA made quick work of it.
  16. In this case the paint really needed lots of love being single stage, oxidized and covered in track slag. I went pretty much straight to a rotary with a short fiber purple wool pad and meguiars M100. Orbital would have eventually don't the same job but the oxidation was quickly clogging pads and making a mess to clean up so rotary was more effective here. For generally track slag cleaning you can use Mothers R3 or a simple citrus based all purpose cleaner and it will generally take the black rubber marks off. However, if you examine closely under proper lighting you'll see that the paint actually needs to be polished in those spots to really be as perfect as possible. I'd recommend polishing twice a year to get rid of the track garbage and really get everything pristine.
  17. I've instructed in a couple including one that was pretty highly prepped. They're ok I guess but not a platform I'd pursue personally. If your passionate about them then go for it. There are certainly a lot worse options out there.
  18. Rules have changed. Cars that are OEM or close to OEM are allowed to go as quick as 10.0 and up to 135 before they need any safety equipment. http://www.dragzine.com/news/nhra-amends-roll-barcage-rules-for-08-later-street-vehicles/
  19. Even though that same 918 / LaFerrari / P1 test was covered by other sources awhile back I still really enjoyed the show. The Mike Skinner was pretty funny in my opinion.
  20. I went to one of their events as a guest when it was held at Auto Assets last year...wasn't a huge fan of the guy nor the club.
  21. I was always on the GIAC side of the fence, but APR had some innovative products back in the day that would be worth a look this time around. Honestly it's more about finding a shop locally that supports one of the brands in the event you need support vs. finding the one that makes the most power and has horrible customer support.
  22. was gonna say I've seen the pictures of the blue one built for SEMA. Pretty cool in some ways, not in others. FYI, at current conversion rates that's only $14k for the kit. That's cheaper than RWB...
  23. My wife has driven an E55 on all seasons (not snows) the last 6 winters without issue.
