How old is your child? I recently purchased a kart for my nephew to get him started. He's a little young at 4 but I figured why not. SCCA aloes kids as mentioned above...need to be 5 to participate. Circleville has a kartint club that regularly races there but as I understand it they haven't had any entries in the 5-8 year old class in a couple of years. There is another track over near Hamilton which does have an active 5-8 year old class. If they are older than 8 you should be able to find a series for them to participate in at just about any of the kart tracks in Ohio Pitt race and New Castle are also not too far away if you really get serious about it. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/2C702697-8C44-4439-9A6F-4753BCABF8F5_zps6b0u8osu.jpg

NASA does it that way...the issue is there's still way to many ways to cheat the system. FIA and other organizations are looking at all the live data that the teams are also looking at and looking for anomalies. GPS mph is simple but telling stat...you magically gain 3mph one lap and it's confirmed you weren't in a draft and there wasn't any weird environmental factor they know you're possibly holding back the rest of the time. They're even monitoring boost pressure. I think it was one of the caddy's in the world challenge series that was recently penalized for over-boost in a race. It was actually from hitting the rev limiter but the organizer stuck to their guns and said rules are rules, figure out how to not make it over-boost in that situation. Big brother is watching in racing these days. IDK how they make decisions on cutting boost vs. limiting RPM's vs. different size air restrictions but I'm sure there's some magical formula that they have.

If you'd like to do that go race in F1. Since very few teams can afford to do that they go production car racing instead where the spirit of the rules are to make multiple platforms competitive with each other. Otherwise these would all be spec series races where everyone is in an identical car. I like the brand variety that is seen in these series I think it makes them more fun. Corvette is in the same boat here. The engines in the corvette in this series are smaller than the street car engines and make less power...I think the race cars are 100hp down on a completely stock street Z06

Balance of Performance adjustments are nothing new in these series. Anytime you're dealing with multiple platforms you're going to have to make adjustments from time to time. In my opinion they are going to give the new guy the benefit of the doubt until they prove that they are too fast and then they will make changes. The data that the organizers are capturing helps tell them the whole story on who's got the advantage over who. Heck if you remember at Daytona this year there were multiple penalties given out after the race and BoP adjustments also made when they figured out people were sandbagging most of the race and when it was time to go they could suddenly turn out laps that were 2-3 seconds quicker than they had run the whole weekend.

What should I look at that's manual, RWD and a convertible
AudiOn19s replied to Trouble Maker's topic in Passing Lane
My M3 and my 3.4L 996 both ran low 13's (the M3 was actually just a touch quicker in the quarter at 13.1 vs. 13.4). Those were both coupes so add a little time for the additional weight. These aren't show stopping numbers by today's standard for sure but for what the OP has described will be his use case I'm sure they will be plenty of fun. -

Given those criteria and my own personal taste I'd look at the E46 M3 and 996. Porsche 996 notes: Unless you're buying from an enthusiast on Rennlist don't expect to find one that's had the IMS fix performed. RMS leaks are hit or mis. My old red 996 had no leaks during my ownership other than the coolant expansion tank. If it were me I'd treat the IMS as a mandatory preventative fix. Some of the early 99 cars had issues with porous cylinder walls...most of those failures have flushed themselves out by now. The dash on the 99 cars was a dimpled plastic, not the nicest. If you can find a car that was optioned with full leather interior it's a real win as esp on the 99 it makes all the difference. M3 notes: Make sure valve adjustments were done at regular intervals...you can DIY if you buy the right tools. Expect most of the bushings to be shot esp the rear trailing arm bushings. Rear subframes are prone to cracking, not easy to check, not hard to fix but lots of labor as it needs to come pretty far apart to do so. Expect the cooling system to need full overhaul at around the 100k mark. BMW has really great leather...but it doesn't wear or age well esp in 'vert. Either car I think would meet you needs and price point. -
It comes with the tool / key for the center lock lugs, you just need a 3/4" torque wrench or torque multiplier. Torque spec for the center lock wheels is 444 ft / lbs.

It's PDK. All Turbo S cars are PDK. you could get a 997.2 turbo in manual but they are pretty difficult to find. The PDK thing was the toughest decision for me but honestly it's the best fit for a car that we intend to be 95% street car and driven by my wife on a regular basis. Not to take anything away from her she's a fairly talented driver and has tracked the GT3 and her old turbo 6 speed numerous times, but in the end if I'm being brutally honest the PDK is the right fit here. Launch control is pretty darn ridiculous too.

Car came out of Vegas. It was actually not on the market. I knew of the car and knew it was what we wanted and tracked it down and convinced the guy to sell it to me.
-
uhhh...I just don't have plates for the car yet so since the GT3 is going to Mid Ohio this weekend we "borrowed" the plates off of it for a couple of days.
-
yup...she got up early to take the long way to work this morning in it. Red calipers = steel brakes Yellow calipers = carbon ceramic brakes

I think the cell phone pics are making the color a little bit lighter than it really is in person. It's traditional Guards Red that's been a Porsche staple for years and years. I'm interested to see how the wheels look once I lower it a little bit more and close up that wheel gap just a touch more. I have the factory 19's for the car too.

Finally found a replacement for the turbo, holding out for exactly the color combo we wanted was worth it in the end despite me almost caving on a couple of instances and getting something different. 2011 Turbo S. Almost every option possible except rear aerokit wing. Current mods - GMG springs, 20" HRE wheels and Sharkwerks "exhaust" (muffler bypass). Going to be able to put the champion intercoolers off the old car on there, will be tuned with Cobb Accessport, and need to do something about those 600 cell factory cats to really open it up. All in good time though, for now we'll give it a couple weeks stock power before I start to turn it up. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/56EABF4F-03C7-49E2-9AA2-029A591FDBA8_zpsn7iuuko4.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/248E8AF4-D254-43E8-80D5-C883259305DC_zpsbowiv0jl.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/7793DF2E-82C9-4A14-BCF0-DF0173DC4008_zpsnogzpbdx.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/E883DC15-E1EA-44BC-8A18-289B9507AA24_zpssr65rmho.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/27AC7C1A-9604-43AF-943F-92B4D96A3508_zpsaczcqakg.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/B458AD85-8125-4B96-829A-D12FC3D53D78_zpsixrhtumf.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/D5F6B5B1-F0E4-4CD3-A834-3CE292D9B8B7_zpsagtgfog2.jpg

I was actually at a client's office the other day and all of the parking up at the front of the building was back-in parking only. They said it's such a high traffic area in the front of the building that it's much safer to mandate that parking be back-in only.

surprised soo many think that LeBlanc was horrible. I mean I don't think he was great but I honestly thought he did better than I expected him to.
-
I only watched parts of it, will have to go back and re-watch the rest tonight. Evans is annoying, I didn't enjoy him at all. After they said that LeBlanc was going to co-host and after watching some of the specials they shot with him I thought he was going to be horrible but I actually think he was better than I was expecting him to be (so slightly above horrible) I too was hoping that Sabine and Chris Harris would have larger parts in hosting....possibly they will in the future. The only thing I actually laughed at was the rather candid comments they got out of Sabine on how poorly the corvette actually handled.

HRE's look good too!!!

We already have a date planned to work on that driver mod feature.

They just completed the full track last year it's a great place to visit now. There are several groups that run there during the week, they even have random test and tune days. ...plus the kart track which is also pretty good.
-
I"ll be instructing at all of them I mentioned above. The Audi Club event is generally more laid back and not necessarily the fastest group in the world, but their group size is much smaller than the PCA events which means less traffic and better "quality" track time. Tough call on the experience level. Knowing what I know about your skill level I think you would not fit well in the beginner group as it's generally painfully slow, but based on your previous track experience you are probably going to get stuck there by most organizations. I think your pace would be good for intermediate with most groups but you'd have to work really hard on awareness of what we try to teach to the beginners that you wouldn't generally be getting by skipping up to intermediate.

poop...I got your text I've been slammed with work stuff. I'll be at OVR PCA at Mid Ohio in 3 weeks. Think it might be full already though. Also be at Audi Club @ mid ohio in late July. Let me know if you want details on that event. Looking at Auto Interests at Pitt Race the first week in July too. After that IDK...probably doing Watkins Glen in August then more Mid Ohio stuff in September and VIR in October.

hopefully this doesn't jinx it...but we're very very close to having everything completed deal wise on the replacement. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/IMG_8593_zpsvvh5xqnx.jpg

Happy B-day Clay.... we share something in common that I never knew before!
