  1. "Slammed so it's Bouncy" ...that thing is the height of a 4x4 truck in the Karmann Ghia world.
  2. I like your thought process here. Race on Sunday sell on Monday type of thing... Personally I'd suggest the miata or E36 or something front engine and rear drive. Kit car Lotus' scare me somehow I'd feel safer on a bike than on one of those. I'd love to give Chandler shit about selling the vette cause it was a great car but his miata proves that something relatively simple can be fast as snot when driven well. OR....establish new ground for the shop. Friend of mine in KY is stupid fast and a lap record holder in just about anything he sets foot in. He decided he wanted to build the ultimate miata for himself and did an LS3 swapped, wide body miata that will outrun most anything it comes up against. In doing so and showing how fast the car was he gained a customer base of people that want him to build them the same car and he's done several of them now and established a name for the shop as one of the great places to go for that particular car build. Find a platform where you can do the same and all of a sudden building a track toy for yourself results in building the business even more.

    I'm back!

Good stuff...I drive past on the way home from work every day and the new buildings plus ramped inventory is impressive to say the least.
  4. If the same amount of engineering thought went into the car that went into his safety equipment then no thanks... Sets out to run a speed record with harness bar only coupled with harness over the sides of a stock seat which isn't going to work right and a seating position that places his helmet touching the roof of the car. Would have rather seen him with just the stock 3 point belts and be done with it.
  5. you guys started talking about 500E and I thought we were actually talking about something cool in here: http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv349/crankandpiston/shizzle/500e5.jpg
  6. Was a few weeks ago. I haven't been to an airshow in years...I'm going to start going on a more regular basis I thought it was great fun to watch.
  7. For something that isn't going to be used on a daily basis the random orbital machine they sell at harbor freight is a good deal esp with the super coupon. I bought one in a pinch when one of my porter cables went out and it's still alive and kicking...admittedly i don't use them much these days except on my personal cars. The new crop of long throw products is impressive and puts the old units to shame if time and effort of are value to you and you don't mind the initial buy-in price. The new Griots machine looks nice but their old RO was a piece of shit. I went through 4 in a year before I gave up and threw 3" pads only on mine. I'd stay away from them.

  9. I'm in love with this song that Gareth Emery has been playing in his sets lately. It's not officially released yet so every version has distortion or crown noise or something else goofy in it...can't wait until it's officially released.
  10. I've tried S&W 3 times just to insure I was giving it a fair shake...I've never been impressed. It's not bad...it's just not great and I see no reason to pay that much money for something that isn't worth writing home about. Merlot > all in my opinion. We have some great food in this town and some equally great steak houses but Eddie's is #1 for me and about the only one I bother going to anymore. It is somewhere that I leave and want to tell people about how great the food / experience is. We were in Chicago in Jan for my wife's b-day and had Gibson's who carry on and on about how they are the only restaurant chain to have their own grade of USDA prime certification for their beef. It was great but we came home and had Eddie Merlot a few days later and it was just better.
  11. +1. Standard shipping if ordered early enough (probably too late now though) gets stuff here next day if it's in stock.
  12. Broke with just a few min left in the race while leading.
  13. The whole show should be Rory and Chris Harris like the Extra Gear segment is structured now. That is better than the whole rest of the show. I enjoyed Harris' M2 test last week but the rest of the main show was pretty weak. I hoped Sabine would get better but she either needs to stick with driving segments only or be the next to go.
  14. Chris Evans is leaving the show. Maybe that means it gets better? ...or it finally dies. Guess we will see
  15. I've never been the biggest fan of the styling of the Panamera...but if you've ever been in one or driven one you know it's one of the best 4 door cars on the planet. I'm sure the new one will be no exception to that.
  16. Love it. Great car and great color combo
  17. http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-X4-18-Volt-1-2-in-Impact-Wrench-Tool-Only-R86010B/203930523 WARRANTY / CERTIFICATIONS Certifications and Listings 1-UL Listed Manufacturer Warranty 3 year or LSA with registration https://www.ridgid.com/us/en/three-year-limited-lsa
  18. You're correct...I wasn't considering the value of the warranty. But I'm seeing 3 year warranty not lifetime. Again...understood. My livelihood doesn't depend on my tools. I'm pretty sure I stated above that the HF was a good fit for my particular use case. I then went on to explain it's shortcomings in my opinion and how I'm looking to purchase a better unit to work with the wheels on my new car. The first one lasted 4 years and I've had my current unit for 2 years. For someone who doesn't depend on these things on a daily basis I still stand by my opinion that it's a good bargain option.
  19. Yeah it's the good one. I've been through two of them over the last 6 years. It fits my use case. I can throw it around changing tires at the track and not really worry about it. But having used the M18 it's absolutely better but still tough to justify the price in my opinion. The ultimate test for the M18 will be of it will remove the center locks on the turbo. If it will I'll buy one.
  20. You realize this is no battery ($75) and no charger ($30) and no super coupon... So rigid at $235 or HF at $105.
  21. I have this unit...and it's better than i expected it to be. HOWEVER...it won't do big stuff. It'll take off wheels and tires up to about 110 ft / lbs. but that's the limitation. You can almost always find a way to buy it with coupons and sales for like $80...and the extra batteries are $15. Of the cheap units it's actually my favorite. I have to borrow my brother's M18 unit to do axle nuts and bigger jobs though.
  22. What kind of car. Is it lowered? U haul trailers suck unless you've got some regular ass regular car with a lot of ground clearance.
  23. I'm not huge on this look either but I think some people pull it off much better than others. the RWB porsche's come to mind as something I find striking and well executed even if it's not to my taste. This example it not really my cup-o-tea. The lighting in the photo highlights the paint mismatch between factory vs. bolt-on parts.
  24. The parking meter is supposed to be at the front of the car / space...how hard is that for people to figure out.
  25. It's a Birel B25 kids kart with comer c50 engine. I found a nearly new 2012 chassis with competitive engine for a reasonable price ($1500) and jumped on it. The guys that are serious will only run a new chassis for a couple of seasons then replace them. I don't think he will race it anywhere this year. Goal is to get him comfortable and see where it goes next year. Any day that there isn't otherwise an event at circleville they have open track for $25
