I couldn't agree with you more. Bravo and Brio are my two top choices.

I'd have to figure this is all you're going to get unless you've got a solid plan for how you can make the sponsorship mutually beneficial. On a small local scale I don't think you'll do enough for a sponsor to get them to do anything other than discounts for you. Then again, like most of us here, I'm really blind to your plans. Maybe a further explination of what you intentions are with your car can help us to better guide you. So: How do you plan on being a benefit to the sponsor in return? Will your exposure be local only or on a national level? Will your exposure be in track competition, car shows, etc? Can you guarantee any media coverage: Magazine, TV, news print, etc. Can you guarantee a schedule for exposure for yourself and the sponsor? My suggestion is to lay all of this out and put together a proposal document or presentation. Have an idea of what you're looking for from a sponsorship rather than leaving it up to them...and more importantly use the points above to be able to jusify what you're looking for. Meet with potential sponsors and throw them your pitch and see what happens. Andy

I miss my Small Block S-10 that I built in HS. Had a couple of opportunities to buy it back and sometimes regret not buying it back just to have it around. Moving forward however, I've decided I'm no longer getting rid of cars...just going to have to find a place to start keeping them all.

If you just got into your house this year then next year is when you'll really start to see the benefits on your return.

With maintenance in the mix the Gallardo falls down the list 'cause you'd have to get a used one to be under budget....and again while they won't be as super expensive to maintain as one might think the 04's and 05's which fall in under the $150k price are all out of warranty because Lamborghini only offered a 2 year warranty up until '06. They've now extended it to 3 years. So...GT3 or R8 would be what "I'd" buy, Because both can be had new for the money, both come with a 4 year 50K mile warranty. However, Ford GT and ZR1 are obviously solid choices too, and better all out performance cars. Just not as "my style" as the first two.

Negative. You're forgetting that the Gallardo is the first car that Audi built after taking over the company. Maintenance really isn't a huge cost with that car. Brakes are standard steel on the Gallardo and not carbon ceramic or anything. A quick search of the internet found aftermarket brake pads for as cheap as $110 per axle. Sure the disks will cost you $300-400 each but even the first year cars out there ('04s) are still LONG from needing to have any rotors replaced. If one was seriously looking at a Gallardo the biggest known issue on them is that the Clutches seem to be weak. Actually it's that Morons buy the car and think that they can do clutch-drops to launch the car quickly forgetting that they're driving an AWD car. Clutch replacement is $4000 and mostly all labor. ...not that I've looked into these cars or anything. Andy

Banned from my garage for 1 week.

In order of preference. 1) used Gallardo 2) new GT3 3) new R8

I'm no FD expert, but I've detailed my fair share of them and for a For a 15 yr old FD that's lived on a track it's in outstanding condition....and when I'm done with it, it will be immaculate.

615's tend to have a pretty big section width, knowing this I'd do the 255's (maybe even the 245's) and not risk the 265....and get some negative camber in that darn thing!

Not to add fuel to the fire but we could invite Cleveland Racing to attend as well, since Nelson is in their back yard, which may make for a larger group. andy

Good call...and the Prelude club got a discounted rate too. I think their club members only had to pay $100 for entry fee since they organized a group outing. I bet if we got 10-20 people together and wrote Kerrie that she'd do the same deal for us for any random funday. Even though I"m not a "certified" instructor I'd be more than comfortable helping out new people if they felt they wanted me to ride along. Instructing is more about keeping people within their own potential or the car's potential prior to showing them how to go faster in the car....provided they at leas know the basics. Andy

I doubt you'll be able to make Mid Ohio happen, if you do it will be VERY expensive. I attended a private rental at Mid Ohio a couple years ago and while I don't know the total cost involved I know it was $400 or $450 for the single day....well worth it in my book, but very hard for most to justify. Also for some reason Mid Ohio is being very picky with their dates...Porsche Club and BMW club have bids in for events and have yet to get a solid dates back from Mid Ohio. Nelson is doable. Last year's rate was $5400 for a private Rental (mon-thurs) for the day which includes everything from corner workers, track staff, insurance etc....BUT you'd need 50+ cars to really make it worth doing seeing as how the planned Fundays are only $120 and there's rarely 50 cars at a funday. Speaking of Fundays @ Nelson...April is approaching fast...can't wait to get back on track. Andy

It really is for sale...that or Matt sold it because he doesn't live on that side of town. He's not very active on the boards but that car is very nice. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43159 -
Game ON! Come to Nelson Legdes with us too! p.s you're already failing at keeping the DS II's clean :0 http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/DSC01480.jpg Don't feel bad...even when Smokey's are clean they still have adhesive residue on them 'cause he's too lazy to remove it. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/Picture033.jpg Andy

Correct...My assumption was that it was dropped to a no point speed...insurance will still see it as a speed no matter what. If you can get an equipment violation out of it your insurance will not know any better. I found this out the hard way when I plead a Reckless-Op down to a 2 point violation years back...while the state only added 2 points to my current tally the insurance company still counted it as a major and it fucked my rates for 5 years afterwords. Now I write / update the code for an insurance company...and I know the business rules much better
-
Insurance company won't care if you fight it and get the points dropped...they'll still surcharge you for it even if it's a no point violation...unless the violation gets thrown out completely from your driving record. (I experienced this first hand prior to even working for an insurance company) If you're borderline with the state to getting a points suspension then fight it...if not it may not be worth your time as your insurance rates will go up regardless.
